...When my history teacher in 10th grade kept telling the class that Les Miserables took place in the 1848 revolutions, rather than the 1832 revolutions.
Ah, the joys of being a history geek.

Well, I have a picture of Javert on my notebook(the one that's in the Javert thread). And people always ask me "Who's Javert?" And they pronounce every letter the way it looks. gonk

For me, not being able to pronounce Feuilly, I have no idea how to pronounce it.
I hate it when people think that it was in the original 1789 revolution. How can they not know that?!
Also in a Broadway production, they pronounced the "s" in "Enjolras". They really should know better.

Oh, also, I hate it when people diss Les Mis when they haven't even read/seen/listened to it. They just diss it because it's "a stupid, boring musical". It erks me. stressed sweatdrop

What really annoys me is fangirls and fanboys, actually. sweatdrop I mean, come on, we all know this obnoxious display of "love" toward the characters is a familiar sort of attention-whoring.
For the real fans of characters, I applaud you, and think you're cool! I think it's...er...just rather great to have fans actually care about the characters, and not view them simply as sex objects. I doubt anyone who has actually read the book and understood and seen the musical would do that, so I'm glad. <3
I too am irked by mispronounciation. "Gene Val Gene." mad Really.

When Katie Holmes butchered On My Own on national television. There was an episode of Dawson's Creek where Katie Holmes sang "On My Own." Before that happened, I was really into Les Miserables and "On My Own" was one of my favorite songs.
Then it really got annoying when my classmates started playing it on the piano and singing it. I'm like, "Cool! You know something from Les Miz?" They're like, "Uh...what's Les Miz? This is from Dawson's Creek."
Ignorance!

...This stupid Spanish chick in my class who thinks she is cool pronounces every letter...
...NOT SPANISH. FRENCH. FREEEEEEENCH. Outrageous accents, flying cows, great wine, bad attitudes, and barricade boys. Lather, rinse, repeat.
NOT YELLOW RICE WITH PEPPERS IN THEM.
GET IT RIGHT YOU DITZ! AND YOU SAID YOU WANT TO BE AN ACTOR! FAT. CHANCE.
*dies a little inside*
It bugs me...so much... No one listens when I try to explain, it is French. You do not say every letter. If it is sooo much trouble, say Les Miz.

There's this rather daft boy in my math class who always takes one of my five copies of Les Mis from me in class and reads aloud the excerpt concerning prostitutes. U.U I left a picture I drew of him in his locker accusing him of man-whoring. Immature, yes, but it did give rise to his anger, much to MY amusement.
