The only thing I've seen on the matter, can essentially be summed up as a guy heard it from a guy that didn't even really have too much to do, if anything, with the development saying that that's the case but then they decided not to have it that way but maybe be used in the future.
So, yeah, unless you can provide something a little more concrete than what I managed to dig up, don't really worry about it because it isn't true.

Eh, the closest thing we have is the novel written by that freelance writer, but you're basically right. It isn't true, since the story is more like published fanfiction.
