ok, this is kinda hard for me to ask, it's REALLY embarassing...

I just don't feel comfortable talking about this kind of thing with either of my doctors (medical or "special friend") because they're both male, and my only other Bipolar friend is male...

Umm, ok, here I go... For the girls out there, or anyone else who might know, is it normal for a manic episode to kinda throw off, you know, girl time?? redface

Well... Emotions can effect your "girl time". If you are stressed out, or something, it delay it.
Maybe a manic episode can do the same thing? I mean, it is a state of high emotional activity. I don't see why not.
Sorry if that didn't help you at all. confused

Yeah, it can.

I'm 19 and still not regular with that, not even when I was off the meds.

Hope that helped. :S

I'm not bipolar, but there have been times when I have been extremely stressed out, loaded down with personal problems and with no where to turn for help, it has definitely thrown me off track for a few days, up to a week.

im bipolar among other things, but im only 15 and a half if you want to be specific..ive had my period for 3 and a half years now, but my period isnt regular.. it neevr hasd been o.O; tehres this medacine called anti-spaz, eitehr that or birth controle pills can make it regular, and not as bad ^^; i get every symptom tehre is for 5-8 days and god do i ever feel liek im dieing - -; so if you want it regulated, without side affects of birthcontrole pills go to your local farmasy or herbal shop, and buy anti-spaz ^^ it really helps, and your perfectly normal hun, dont worry

I will say, if being bipolar DOES affect my cycle, my bc is stronger than whatever chemicals my brain puts out. The bc ring is the only thing I've ever found that will keep me on a calendar.

If you do want some reassurance some of the drugs given to bipolar patients can throw off your timing and make that time of the month hard to predict. The pharmacist told me.

The list includes most of the drugs I've heard of used for bipolar and epilepsy so unless you have really bad cramps or whatever its probably fine. And as my doctor has always told me - it may just be normal for you.

Epilepsy is seizures caused by things like flashing lights.

If your cramps are that bad, hit the birth control.

Also, medication can throw it off, or make it go away, I've been on meds for two months, and haven't had anything, and it's actually kinda nice.

Any episode can throw off ur period, it happens to my friends when they r depressed. Stress, and any chemical inbalance can throw off ur hormones, and an inbalance in hormones can throw off ur menstral cycle, and it is also common for medication to throw off ur hormones. basically anything that can throw off chemicals in ur brain can mess with ur production of hormones. and yes, i am a guy, not a girl.

Wow! This is interesting to me. I've been having problems with my period since I started them. This would explain a lot for me. I just had surgery because of how bad it had gotten. A 7 and a half month period is no fun. crying I took birth control a couple of years ago and was at the lowest dose, and managed to have a ton of lung clots. So that wasn't an option for me. The surgery was to get an IUD placed, a DNC done, a hysteroscopy, and a biopsy. They say I might also have endometrial hyperplasia. Which is a blood disorder, fun! The implant might even get rid of my periods! Oh, also if this doesn't work, I'll have to get a hysterectomy. Which is kind of freaky to me. sweatdrop
