whatever did the stupid female mean by 'it's about time to move on' ?
it made absolutely no sense to him even though he tried as hard as he could to come up with something. Moving on meant he would have to take an action that would change things... and whoever said he wanted to change anything. And the odd haze his mind was swimming in didn't help at all either. Moving on meant to progress... not become stuck like he was.
Not that he asked for it. Not that he asked for the rain that night. Not that he asked for the car to come straight at him. Not that he asked to die in the first place. It was meaningless to die. It was meaningless to die like that.
Not to mention he was stuck in that uniform... the one he was wearing back at the shrine. If anyone dared call him a girl again... he was sure to commit murder, laws be damned and all, he was just tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. Really... what kind of era were those people here stuck in, anyway? Didn't they know it was rude to make comments about every random person you met in the streets? There were a couple things called 'common sense' and 'dignity' and nobody he met so far seemed to posses either ranging from the gatekeeper who mentioned it was a shame for such a fair young maiden to have to die to some lecherous street thugs he had to beat up with his broom to make them leave him alone.
To top it off, even though Seaki would never admit it, not in a thousand years, he was very... irreversably lost.

The black-haired man gave a sigh of relief, leaning back on his chair as he glanced at the pile of papers on his desk. He was finished, finally. Saiko was never the type to leave work undone, even if he didn't like it. It just never happened with the sotaicho - which is why he was often thought of as responsible. Oh, if they only knew! A single gold eye turned to the window overlooking Soul Society - or more specifically, the Gotei. A sad smile spread across his lips. He wondered how the other captains who have lost their lives would look at him now. The former sotaicho was currently guarding the king, Amiyano Saiko his replacement for a century already. Maybe he should go check out Rukongai; it has been quite a long time since he went to check the area. After all, in his line of work, he didn't really have a lot of time.
Saiko stood up, taking the sword lying on the wall and placing it on his hip. He turned his head to look at Rukongai - what little he could see, anyway - before taking off the white haori he wore over the standard Shinigami clothes, placing the haori haphazardly over the arm of his chair. With a smile, he walked out, and looked around, only to find no one. "Where is everyone?" he muttered, eyebrows furrowed before his eyes landed on a familiar shinigami under his division. "Ah, you!" he said, immediately causing the shinigami to stand in attention, "Whoever comes looking for me, tell them I'm in Rukongai, alright?"
"B-But sotaicho! What about your haori? And the fuku-taicho?"
"Don't worry about that, don't worry~ I can handle myself, after all!" said Saiko with a smile on his face. Well, there was no doubt he could handle himself but still! With a wink at the man, he jumped onto the railings, said, "Well, have a good day, Masato-san," before jumping down onto the building below, running across the rooftops at such high speeds, Masato completely lost him.
He wished the sotaicho would be mature.
* * *
"Can I have this?" he asked, smiling at the woman, his hands outstretched to give her the coins he held. Saiko took the tempura to his mouth, taking a bite out of the seafood, smiling to himself as he walked away. Ah, he knew it was a good idea to go out to Rukongai. It had been a while, yet the place still retained much of the busy life he remembered. That was when he spotted a young miko (he could tell from his clothes), Saiko's eyebrow raised at the broom the miko was carrying. He - at least, Saiko assumed it to be a he - seemed lost, too, often looking around not in curiosity as much of the other children did but rather ... it was a different look. Really, what was the guy he assigned to guide souls doing? Probably sleeping again somewhere. He really must find more responsible people to help these new souls. Don't the shinigami do so, however, upon burial? Oh, well. He wasn't going to complain.
Saiko tossed the stick in a makeshift garbage can, walking behind the miko before he tapped said person's shoulder. With a smile, he said, "Hello, are you lost?" Well, this was part of his job, wasn't it?

Only god knew how many times he had found himself in dead-ends... or returned to what appeared to be the district's busiest street. Nothing seemed to change and he was about to give up and exasperate, not to mention that he wasn't quite in the mood to just walk up to someone and ask them for directions. He was a bit too childishly proud to do so. If he was going to find a way he would do it alone. No need for others, not now, not here that it didn't matter how long it would take him.
However this time around something actually was different as someone approached him and gently tapped his shoulder, asking if he was lost. Mostly due to surprise and instinctive reaction -he didn't want any weird guys on his trail and he had stumbled across many of them already- he jerked away, raising his broom to smack the other -who he just noticed was a taller, handsome looking man with one eye covered by a medical eyepatch- at the top of his head while at the same time yelling "Do I seem lost to you????"
He blinked afterwards, quickly pulling his broom away. He scowled. Even though the man didn't seem to have any ill intentions and he was by far the only person that he had spoken to that seemed relatively normal... he wasn't about to admit it. He wasn't the person that would admit to making mistakes like that even though he knew he was the one faulty.
"Y-yeah..." he stuttered a couple moments later, looking at his feet as if they were suddenly of such great interest that demanded total attention.

He wasn't polite at all. No, he sounded more annoyed and pissed off than anything, the look on his face and how he gripped that broom of his. Instead of being intimidated - then again, why should a shinigami be intimidated by a miko? - he found himself amused by the boy's actions. With the amused smile on his face, Saiko said in the most polite tone, "Well, yes, actually you do seem lost. Have you just arrived here?"
Saiko looked at the boy up and down. He really did seem to be a miko what with the uniform - but really, he had never heard of a male miko. Ah, times were changing indeed. Naturally, it would, especially considering Saiko had lived as a human five hundred years ago. His eye trailed up to the mess of black hair sitting atop the boy's head, amber eyes looking at him before falling to the floor at his feet. Saiko tilted his head before a smirk crossed his lips.
"Ma, ma, no need to be embarrassed~" he said, raising the boy's face using his index finger below the chin , smirk still evident on his face. Oh, yes, it wasn't exactly well-known but to the people who do know the man, they would know he was a bit of a flirt. Maybe not just 'a bit' but he certainly was a flirt. He dropped the smirk, now nothing but a smile, before he continued, "I assume you'd want to go to the shrine? Or would you rather look around Rukongai first?"
