A ton of fun and laughs! Set in Flower Bud Village, which might or might not mean that this is or was the Homeland first (See Save the Homeland for details), this game is totally about more realistic farming in a small village.

Your 2 main goals are to find all 100 music notes hence the title of the game, and to get everyone to be your best buds.

You can choose whether to be a boy or a girl, and whatever you chose, you can be sure that it will be filled with adventure.

I know personally that I have had a really good laugh when playing it. And, its best to buy this game. It is one of those types that is worth it to buy.

As far as I know, its available for the Nintendo Game Cube.

*groans* You mean A wonderful life Special edition for the PS2.

Yes, Magical Melodies is a great game. I like this game because of the many things you can do. It really teaches you what town farming can be like.

Fishing out several fish and knowing what the best way to make the fish is. For hard shell fish like Crawfish, Lobster, and Crabs, the oven is the best way to go.

If you find squid of any kind, due to its saltiness, you should add a teriyaki sauce first before baking it in the oven.

The Manieure dishes basically are fish wrapped in batter and then cooked. Breadfruit is basically fresh bread (yummy), and then if you add butter to it and then fry it, you basically get a batter, and with certain fish, that's delectable.

Deep fried Rainbow trout, deep fried Char, Deep fried Salmon, deep fried Yamame, Deep fried Maple Flounder (McDonalds's Fillet of fish sandwich) these among others are the best when deep fried. They do not have sole fish, which I am surprised because that is yummy when wrapped in batter.

Then there are some fish that is just good with herbs and baked in the oven for a certain length of time. Salmon is one of them.

Then there are some fish such as tuna that you can just place it in a frying pan and you get Tuna steak. That is yummy, actually.

The point is, with fish dishes alone, this game teaches you how to cook using basic instructions.

I learned how to make banana smoothies from this game. Bananas, milk, mixer. Simple, huh?

Apple juice is apple and mixer. Basically how you make apple juice is you core the apple first. Then you put the apples and some water into a blender and mix really well. You get Apple juice as a result.

See? Something on Magical Melodies that you can make at home.

Haha no I really mean Innocent Life S.E for PS2 sweatdrop

Yea MM is really like real life

I like it when you can put bonfires on the ground ^^

Whos your favorite character in MM?
PostPosted: Thu Mar 04, 2010 10:35 pm

Um, Blue Jay, if you have a new game that you know of in the Harvest Moon series, doesn't that go in the Other towns of Harvest Moon? I think mom put the subforum up for like other Harvest Moon Games that Mom has not yet played, but might if you give enough info.

Anyway, I found out a secret of Magical Melodies. To choose a mate faster, and befriend the villagers faster, discover their favorite things.

For example, to befriend Alex Trent the doctor fastest, give him High Quality turnips. You can get these by simply first finding a spot with the darkest soil. Usually in the lot beside Blue Sky Ranch.

Best put your farm on the beach its the biggest. There is secret number 2!

You can get free turnip seeds if you go to Spring Farm by your place on Spring day 3, providing that it isn't a day that Spring farm is closed. Normal closed days are Mondays or Wednesdays depending on the gender of the farmer and the season the farmer is born in. So, if you like Doctor Alex Trent, you can do that.

There are many happy gifts, not favorites that Alex likes too, which will boost his hearts one speed slower than the favorites. Herbs and Cureall fish will do that.

Think of the villager friendship mission in a point system.

Favorite gifts is 3 points
Happy Gifts is 2 points
Normal gifts is 1 point
Dislike gifts is -1 point
Ewwwww gifts is -3 points.

Do not give the ewww gifts.

Garbage will do that such as boots, fish bones, and cans. Also stakes will do that.

If you give wood found on the ground, you can give that to the carpenters Woody, Kurt, or Joe and it will count as a Happy gift each.

To know if you have given a favorite or not is if you see three pink hearts circling over a character's head.

Louis's favorite is Moonstone, which is easy to find in the mines. He will make a sound like he's about to be a man and dirty his pants as the pink hearts circle around his head and then he will say something to the effect that he is very grateful.

Ray the Fisherman who gives you a free copper fishing rod also loves Moonstones. You'd think Ray would have fish as his favorite, but no, that's a happy gift because its like helping his career rather than being super personal.

Lyla who owns a specialty shop loves pink cat flowers in the summertime. She is pretty easy to shop for. She also likes pink yarn, which can be made by using the dye pot, a pink cat flower and some yarn.

Please note that you need sheep in order to make yarn and you need the yarn maker too. Before I forget, also note that you should never ever dye special yarn for it degrades it. Normal or dull yarn dyed is best.

Each character has its good points. For instance, Kurt is really easy to win over.

Wait until the summer, plant a bunch of tomatoes, buy the mixer, mix up tomato juice and viola, he's yours. Oh, and if you give him Blue Mist flowers in the fall, then bonus.

Another easy character to woo is Ray. Like Bernard had just finished saying, give him moonstones and he's yours.

Basil is easy character number 3. Dig up potana roots with your hoe in the Moonlight Mine. You don't even need a hammer to do that. The other thing that Basil loves is red herbs. So, pretty easy and not so hard on your HP either.

If Carl's your man, get a pot from the tool shop and cook up as many green herbs as you can. Give him the herb tea for him to be yours.

If you like Joe, which he is the kindest of the husbands (I've tried this out myself), then you'd better start cooking up expensive fish. He takes longer than the other men, but I guess good things take time.

Blue loves Amethyst and good milk/eggs. Best buy the eggs and milk from the Blue Sky ranch to sort of cheat to woo him. But, noble gifting would be to try and build your chicken coop fast and then one egg so that you can get the bonus that comes with that. You get to raise all 5 birds yourself, and you can't help but feel happy. Otherwise, wait until winter to dig up as many amethysts as you can.

Dan loves Apple soda and grapes. He is a bachelor... I think... but he takes a good while to woo. He is likely the hardest one to get.

If I forgot Louis, then he loves Moonstones. He's as easy as Ray, but you have to wait until late summer to unlock him.

Again like Bernard said before, Alex loves high quality turnips.

A great way to getting the largest rucksack the fastest is buying the town square plot shortly after placing your first house on the beach.

The plot costs 5000 g, but is easy to get in the first year.

Once you have the land, next step, lumber and building the barn.

Continue with your shipping method to earn fast money, but never forgetting to get the lumber.

There are 2 ways to getting the lumber.

1. Using your axe and getting rid of the trees in your way on the beach (I would do this)

2. Buy lumber at 50 g a piece from The Carpenters.

Why would I choose option one over 2? Its cheaper and you get more bonuses with it, like music notes, upgrades of tools, and it provides more space for other important things.

After getting the Barn built, go there to get your pet pig.

Then save up for a sheep. Sheep are cute in this game and I mean really cute. They hop up and down showing that they are excited. I never get tired of that.

Once you have the sheep, work towards your yarn maker next and your dye pot.

Next step, have the sheers, and befriending Martha.

Give her yarn and lots of it to befriend her fastest. One daily should do.

Once that is accomplished, she will tell you when to give her the last yarn so she can make your rucksack the largest.

Here is another cool tip, on rainy days plant as much as you can. No watering needed that day! Then, after you've done the watering the following day, fish at the lake where the winter mine is.

I just confirmed by giving Alex, the doctor on this game, a High Quality turnip (sells for 180 G), that its a favorite of his.

Turnips grow between 4-6 days depending on the quality of the soil. The higher the quality the higher the price.

If you win the Swimming festival, you get a power berry and a music note. Try to win at all costs. Ha ha!
