as a baptist i believe you do not need bapism for salvation looko at Acts2:38 it reads :

then peter said unto them repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of jesus christ for the remission of your sins and you shall recieve the gift of the holy spirit

the thing about scripture is sciprure always backs up scriptue

look at Romans 10:9

that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shall be saved

THERE IS NOTHING IN THAT VERSE THAT SAYS ANYTHING ABOUT BAPITIZM

so u ask so y do we have baptism baptizm is a symbol that u known him as your lord and saviour but baptizm is not a nesscity thx byiiie

I hope this helps, I don't know if it will or not. I have ever don't really see baptism as being needed, but I do think that one of these days I would like to be baptised, because I think that maybe it will help with me getting closer to Jesus and not really feeling that much of a separtation between me and him...If that makes sense.

Also I do think I will have my children baptised when they are young, because I really want to reinforce Christianity in my home when I'm older.

There is a difference between baptizing with water and baptizing with the Holy Spirit. I believe that it is impossible to enter into the Kingdom of God unless you are baptized by the Holy Spirit. That is, accepting Jesus Christ into your life and accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour. Baptizing with water is a testament of your faith. Just like a ring in marriage symbolizes unity and commitment to your spouse, baptism, in my opinion, symbolizes your devotion and commitment to Jesus.

However, baptism means different things to different people. I just was baptized this past summer. Br2, my sister (who's 7 years younger than me), was baptized three or so years before me and moomoolaroo (who's 10 years younger than me) was baptized last year. I find baptism to be the "next step" in my walk with Jesus, and since I have been baptized, God has shown me so much.
