Appearance: Hibiki has a rather tall and sinewy body. Her blond mane usually hangs loose and untamed unless she has good reason to wrestle it back under control. She has dark eyes that she has been told are the same shade as her late father's (much to her dismay).
Personality: Hibiki is eccentric, to say the least. Independent and free-spirited, she always bridled under father's guiding--and in her opinion, overbearing--hand. While she is usually cheerful and outgoing, anyone who tries to control her too much is likely to see just how much of a temper she can have. Nevertheless, Hibiki is a diligent worker, and is willing to go to great lengths for those who have managed to get into her good graces. Although they were never very close as children (due largely to the difference in their ages), Hibiki has desperately tried to hold onto her relationship with her half sister, Hana, especially in recent years.
History: Hibiki was born in Telgar Weyr to the brownrider H'dar and greenrider Nathella. Despite being weyr-raised by two parents who were dragonriders, Hibiki never had much of an interest in dragons. Even so, due to the pushing and pestering of both her parents (but especially her father), by her sixteenth turn Hibiki found herself standing on the hatching sands of Telgar Weyr. That first time--as well as the next two--Hibiki walked off of the hatching sands alone.
Fed up with her father's impatience for her to impress, and still unconvinced that it was what she wanted, during the spring of her nineteenth turn, Hibiki impulsively left the weyr with a group of traveling traders from Telgar Hold. Although she had simply intended it as a means to escape from the weyr, Hibiki soon found that she enjoyed the life of a wandering trader. Seeing new places, meeting new people, and never staying for too long in one place suited her restless nature. By the time the caravan had returned to Telgar Hold for the winter, Hibiki had proven herself a capable worker and managed to wrangle herself an assured position on the next spring's circuit.
However, her return to Telgar Weyr was less joyous. During the time she was away, Hibiki's father had begun to focus his ambitious plans on her now thirteen-turns-old half-sister. This was a relief more than it was anything else. What really hurt was that her mother's attitude toward her had cooled because of the betrayal she felt by her daughters sudden disappearance the previous spring. Still, that made her decision to travel during the warmer months that much easier to make.
Hibiki never really recovered her relationship with either of her parents. When her father was killed in the first threadfall two turns previous, she barely made an effort to make it back to the weyr for his memorial, and to this day her relationship with her mother is still strained. However, Hibiki still makes an effort to regularly visit with her half sister while the traders hole up in Telgar Hold during the winter months.
