So, Gaia's graciously given us a spiffy new feature. We can now mass PM every existing member of our guild once a day for a small fee and give you all sorts of updates... thus opening so many possiblities!

But, what do you want us to do with this power? ninja

Note, sending announcements to our 487 members will cost the guild account (that little thing you can donate to on the home page) a 368 whopping pieces of gold. So it's not something we want to use EVERY day, but it wouldn't hurt to send something out once a week or ish.

We can do a few things with this... We can...

- Have a Guild Newspaper!
( opportunity to encourage activity by telling all the interesting things! O; )
- Inform members when a game or Guild Event is starting!
(Imagine 487 people in a game. Shoo!)
- Inform users of Event threads (like Halloween Forum)!
- Weekly digest on new topics & who died, who lived, and the game update!

Just think!

Now, would any of you be interested in doing this? And do you have any different ideas?

bi weekly or monthly is as often as we should send anything out. I am in favor of monthly or only for specific events that are BIG (masquerade, captain/kroo elections, such)

Bi-Weekly sounds reasonable. If we have a newspaper, that's still reasonable and gives more opportunity for folks who have crappy homework or college crap to still participate.

I think specific events are a given. Makes it simpler. We should also probably put one of those "You are receiving this message because you are a member of the GCSG guild, if this is wrong please correct it" things at the bottom of them.

Never actually SEEN a guild announcement, so I don't know if it does it automatically.

I think monthly is a good start. If it gets more popular it can become a bi-weekly thing.

Weekly game updates sound awesome.
I'll donate more money to the guild if we need it.

I still think monthly is the way to go, because I'd feel like every other week would get repetitive and there wouldn't be much to cover.
But it's still a nice reminder. :3

I changed my mind after I posted to monthly.

And for ultra special events of course.

Whatever it is, it must haf pretty graphics. Give it a good gaia-y touch.

Actually, Monthly is probably best....thing is, beginning, mid or end of month would be my concern.

Maybe begining, with stuff like "This is what is planned for this month: blahblahblah"

Along with notes about "check out this and that" as well as allow people to toss in an ad or so at the cost of donating to the guild for it or something.

I dont think it matters.

Anything interesting that has happened or will happen soon is fair game I think.

I don't think you should have a monthly thing... Cuz after a while I'll just not pay attention anymore, cuz I'll be like "ohh, the guild is telling me something, that's nice". And Yeah, I'm NOT the only person who'll do that.

I think you should send them out like, at the beginning of every game, for sign ups, and then at the end for wrap up/new GM announcement and stuff like that.

Though that might get redundant also, it will at least let people know when they should be around for the game.

You can add all those updates about the guild to those announcements. But sending out monthly things won't be as exciting as it sounds.

imo we can try monthly and if it gets repetitive or stupid we can change/stop.

Yeah, but what we NEED people for is game sign ups. We can have people coming in here all the time, but what keeps people here is the game. So I think we should be worried a little more about the game and keeping IT going than telling people what's up in the guild. Like what will be up? some new thread? a couple things are being worked on by a couple of people? An event coming up at some point? Those are all things that can be made clear in a simple thread.

I don't know how to like explain this so it makes sense to everyone, cuz it makes sense in my head, but like you know, not when I'm trying to type it.

OK, lemme try. You guys are assuming, everyone who is getting this monthly announcement is interested in getting this monthly announcement. That makes sense right? you guys assume that people getting this are all for having the Sniper Game being tops. But it's not true. Because at the most we probably have like 25% of the member list active at the moment. So just think, you get some announcement from some guild you joined 10 months ago, and haven't been to since, what will you do? You might come back for a few days, and then pop back to your old routine cuz nothing is happening.

SO, sending out an announcement at the beginning of each game, and maybe at the end IS a better idea, AT LEAST FOR NOW! Once we have people coming back to the guild, we can go ahead and send out monthly updates.

((Do you see my point? Cuz this might still be confusing, because it's late and I rarely ever make sense when I'm tired))

I don't want to hear about signups every game.

in a monthly newsletter we can always update people on the state of the game and when signups are/are likely to be.

I mean we wouldn't just not talk about the game in a guild newsletter.

having MULTIPLE things going on in the guild to draw people in is a good idea.

the game is a big one. but it's not the only one, and I know I don't want something EVERY game, cause games can be short?

Unless, unless, we had one every game talking about things going on? Like, game is starting, the last game was cool and ended like this (like list roles and basic end game stats), these are any changes to the guild, w/e.

Considering how its more like Gaia's constant barrage of announcements than a useless PM that will rot in your inbox, it seems a tad more okay to do "sooner" than once a month.

It's really only just a popup saying "1 Guild Announcement", you click on it, it shows it, and you can move on with your life.

Not quite as annoying as some are making it out to be. It's not like it'd be used to do something like "i has an egg do u want" everyday. More of a controlled maybe once every 2 weeks thing. Encourages activity because it tells users what's new in the guild and what's interesting.

Using one at the beginning of a game might help boost numbers. I know we've been getting quiet and less people are going "oh I missed it" because they're not here. but it'd help.

I'm going to work on a test one as a proof of concept. You can decide how "annoying" it'd be to get one after looking at it.

EDIT: Photo has a point. I don't know if we'd seriously have enough material to do a biweekly announcement. Maybe I'm just more defensive that it wouldn't be annoying.

I don't want to hear about signups every game.

Then turn off your announcements.

I think a reminder like that would be useful.

OH GOD GUILD ANNOUCEMENTS ARE SUCH A BURDEN. I MIGHT BREAK MY FINGER CLICKING. WOE IS ME.
