Name: M'ran
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual, except in mating flights
Rank: Bluerider/Weyrharper

Appearance: M'ran is solid but not large. His muscle is mainly located in his arms and legs, though he doesn't have quite enough of it to throw himself out of proportion. His hands are at odds with the rest of him, long fingered and delicate with callouses from plucking harp strings and using drums. His face is smooth, with a high forehead and long nose supported by a strong jawline. His hair is short and neat, swept to the side usually, and a shade of blonde that is almost a light brown. There are a few stray locks that usually hang into his face. His eyes are very dark, unless direct sunlight shines on his face it's impossible to tell that they are blue.
Personality: M'ran lives for two things: his music and his dragon. He's what you would expect from a harper: subtle, humorous, and intelligent. He is also driven, and constantly strives to improve his musical skills. Sometimes he will go for days on end without eating, stopping his work only to care for his dragon or to take short naps. His specialty is not composition, but the creation of musical instruments. Not all of his experiments in this field are a success: the most memorable occasion was when he made a small pipe that produced a range of sound so high it rendered him deaf for a few days. He's thinking about selling that one as a self-defense weapon once he figures out how to stop it from blowing out the user's hearing. M'ran is fond of children: he sees them as the future of the weyr and a great source of joy. They almost represent the promise of a new day to him.
To his dragon, M'ran is more devoted than even to his music. Vidrienth is M'ran's life, a great contribution to his inspiration. Often the two of them can be seen off in a quiet corner, the blue dragon listening while M'ran sings or plays music for him.
History: Morran was a young, talented student in the Harper Hall for almost all of his life. As a child he had an unusually flexible voice which caught the Hall's attention. Once in the Harper Hall for a few years, though, he discovered that there was much greater joy in creating musical instruments than in singing. Not that he neglected the other areas of his education; he was diligent in all areas of his training simply because he loved music. There were a few other students who looked down on him as a show off, but for the most part he was too friendly for many of them to hate him.
Morran was on his second stint as a journeyman in Telgar Hold when dragonriders rode on search. When he brought out the youngsters he was teaching to be considered, one of the greenriders pronounced Morran to be a likely candidate himself. He was almost too old to be considered, but with Thread coming it was important to have lads old enough to fight while their dragon was in prime condition, so Morran was allowed to come. At the age of 21 he impressed Vidrienth.
Pet(s): None

Dragon: Vidrienth
Age: 3
Color: Blue
Appearance: He is slightly undersized, but more than makes up for it with speed and endurance. His wings are longer and wider than would be normal for his body size, and the muscles at their base are very pronounced. This, combined with his lighter build, makes him fast and steady in the air, and also gives him a strange prancing gait on the ground. His hide is a uniform, dark sapphire blue, darkening to almost black at the tip of his tail. But his wingsails are the shade of a clear summer sky and almost completely translucent. This same shade colors the very tip of his muzzle, almost making him look like he has a beard.
Personality: Vidrienth has a regal bearing to him that's unusual for a blue, especially a smaller one. Like his rider, Vidrienth has great love for music, but not just the kind man makes. He will often sit and listen to the sounds of leaves in the wind or the bubbling tones of a stream over stones. His favorite spot is next to the lake where he can lay in the sun and listen to the little waves lapping at the shore. He has dignity but not an excess of pride, which often helps him keep good standing with the browns and bronzes. He never shouts and rarely gets angry. Vidrienth's voice is like the whisper of a low woodwind when he's happy, like a fanfare of brass when he's excited or feeling courageous, and like low rolling drums when he's angry or irritated. He will often hum along with his rider or on his own and has an excellent memory for melodies.
