No, ice punch isn't really one of her powers, just an amusing roleplay snippet.

ANOTHER BANNER

Thanks goes to Arri for finding me this myth after my long search for a winter goddess, and whatnot. Raina is the cumulation of several years of plotting, dreaming, and thinking. The character came first, the mythbase second, and somehow they still manage to be cohesive.

YET ANOTHER BANNER

Long before Christianity became in vogue, Frau Holle held dominion over domestic chores in Germany, a patron of witches and spinsters alike. It was said that when snow fell, Frau Holle was shaking out her feather bed, and the goddess herself was closely tied with Winter. She was a protector of children, and the leader of the Wild Hunt, riding forth from her court within the Hörselberg, with the dead fast behind her, surrounded by the souls of unborn children. She was worshipped and beloved by her people, and they gave tribute to her when they harvested their crops, leaving a portion behind for her. This pleased the goddess, and she kept watch over their crops. For many years, she still held strong, despite the growth of the new Christianity, and was venerated in the surrounding lands. There came a time, however, that worship of her was scarce, belief in her was hard to find. She began to fade. She did not fade out entirely, however, and one beautiful afternoon she heard the cries of a farmer, calling out her name in fear and panic.

Frau Holle came upon him, and saw that his field was on fire, the flames licking at the farmhouse, and the barn. In a moment of clarity, she realized that she would be able to put out the flames, but not to survive the use of the power that was keeping her from fading out entirely. In her final moment, she became a snow storm, smothering the flames, taking the heat of them into herself. Frau Holle melted away into nothing more than a memory. Unfortunately, her powers, though minimal in her final days, had managed to keep much of the Wild Hunt in line. In her absence, things began to go awry. The spirits who rode out still came down from the mountain, but they were not halted by the will of the goddess who had led them for so long. Seeing this, the spirit of Frau Gode was displeased, and vowed to return to the world that she had left to set things right.

Yeeaaah, this'll be spiffed up soonish.

BANNER HERE GUYS

User Image

    Name: Raina
    Gender: Female
    Stage: Teen
Mythbase: Frau Holle/Frau Gode (same goddess, different name), Germanic
Appearance: Long white hair, wintry skin, ice crystals
Powers: Snow cloud ( the ability to manifest a cloud of snow in which to hide), cold resistance, ice skin, deathly chill (a mild sense of impending doom)

Snow Cloud: Useable when Raina is very frightened, forms a small cloud of snow which is vulnerable to heat and short lasting. It essentially just provides (or is intended to provide) Raina a means by which to make a hasty retreat. If she is tired, the cloud is weaker, and does not obscure her well. She cannot manifest the cloud in normal situations such a parlor trick. If she is injured, the force of her fear will increase the duration of the cloud, but it will behave as though she is tired.

Cold Resistance: Due to her wintry nature, Raina is able to function and survive in near sub-zero conditions. The downside of this power is that extreme heat is harmful to her, and heat in general will weaken her. This power is passive, and cannot be turned off by any means that she has found.

Ice Skin: This manifests as a hard layer of ice above her skin and is subject to heat as all of her powers are, providing her with (limited) protection against physical blows. It will not protect against gunfire, for example, but in general does somewhat absorb blows dealt by fists (and knucklers) or blunt objects. It is not invulnerable, and will crack as blows rain down and eventually disappear. Raina considers this to be her most powerful ability.

Deathly Chill: Also a passive ability, deathly chill follows Raina where she goes, and only strongly affects those who are near death, or very ill. Those people will have a faint sense of impending doom, as described above, which cannot be controlled by Raina herself. Individuals who are hale and healthy will not experience this at all. A person affected by the power must be able to see her.

Personality: Moody, prone to fits of icy temper, and selfishness to counter the raging maternal instincts of doom which seem to smack her around whenever she comes across needy younger children. She feels particularly rebellious where that subject is concerned, and will fight to keep from responding to her gentler urges. As a young (and to her mind independent) teenager, she keenly resents that particular carryover from her previous life, and strives to ignore it where she can. Often, she is unsuccessful, and finds herself falling into old patterns. When she does not feel like her individuality and freedom is being threatened by traditional female roles, Raina feels free to be the schemer and the thinker that lurks beneath her surface. She is coldly logical at times, almost to the point of being at odds with the soft intuition that plagues her. When she feels she has been slighted, or outmaneuvered, she will go out of her way to rectify the situation, sometimes going to extreme means to accomplish her goals. That usually involves getting revenge in some way, shape, or form, and it’s not generally pretty.

Raina is intelligent, sometimes petty, and prone to acting on her own interests in general more so than others. She feels a certain dispassion for other people, largely because they are ‘not like her’, though as previously mentioned she does have strong maternal stirrings, so she is inclined to be protective of children, whether she likes them or not. With as little contact to outside influences as she has had, she is somewhat awkward in relating to other (unfamiliar) people, inclined toward stumbling over herself. If she feels a strong affinity or liking toward someone, she will go out of her way to impress them, often going to some fairly ridiculous extremes to do so. If she does not like someone, she will be as distant as possible with them, and if they pursue a relationship (be it a friendship or otherwise) she will make a concentrated effort to drive them away. Neutral parties will largely be viewed as play things on which to enact her own personal brand of social experimentation.

OH HO HO HO BANNER

Guardian: When it came time for Raina to be reborn, she was found by a keta by the name of Zalur, descendant of Sidu. In general, keta are not encouraged to adopt children, but exceptions are made for those who live long enough to see their own children grow to adulthood, and beyond. Zalur is the daughter of a clan chief, and chose to take Raina in as her own child. Her decision was somewhat disputed, and would have continued to be so, except that her father then proceeded to have two other children, assuring that his line would continue unbroken. Raina somewhat resents Zalur’s mothering of her, feeling that it draws still more attention to her than she already receives for being so far different from the keta. Her “daughter’s” resentment is a somewhat recent development, and it has not stopped the keta from attempting to “straighten out” Raina’s queer, almost feminist behaviors. She has patiently taught her all of the feminine tasks, and is pleased that they seem to come naturally to the girl. Weaving especially is easy for Raina, which has somewhat smoothed over relations between them (though the teenager resents this as well).

... Needs more.

OH HEY BANNER

World: Raina was reborn on a planet of bird-like people, where she is considered quite strange. They are humanoid creatures, covered almost entirely in feathers, with clawed hands and feet. They are not winged, however, and they do not possess the ability to fly. Legend speaks of an earth origin, but there is no evidence to back up that particularly wild tale. Though they cannot fly, they are able to hover for a time, taking advantage of the low gravity of their planet. The planet itself is called Ketar, and the people keta. Ketar is part of a seven planet system that orbits a star that they have named Sidu, in honor of their fabled first ruler. Ketar is the smallest planet, with the lowest gravity, and it is covered by a dense forest, with trees whose roots are massive, in order to cling to the surface of the planet. Culturally, keta are tribal nomads, who live in the trees, and between the enormous roots. It is said that they were once a great civilization, headed by the aforementioned Sidu, and that they were very long lived at that time. The modern day keta have relatively human life spans, with a couple exceptions. Those who are descended from Sidu and his clan tend to live longer, perhaps three hundred earth years at most. There are few remaining who can claim such blood ties.

Seriously needs more detail.
