Right, so, to save forum load problems (and to make my life easier and more orderly- something that it is NOT irl), all my works worth mentioning these days are up in the writing arena.

They all relate to each other, but to compensate for my writing weaknesses (in this case, being able to finish at least ONE story I start due to getting bored in the lulls), all the chapters are going to be posted out of order indiscriminately as I get the urge to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), and it will be the esteemed reader's job to put the pieces together and discern the order of events.

Sound fascinating? Or just curious? Well, decide for yourself. There's three sections up at the moment. The first is the definitive beginning of everything and carries the namesake of the series as its title:

1. Bad Timing (in the author's opinion, the best)
Second to be published: The Escape (in the author's opinion, this one needs the most critique)
Third to be published: Dream a Little Dream of Me... (in the author's opinion, she's got no real opinion on this one. xd )
Fourth to be published: Tenebraerum A very, very small piece that hints at heavy things for the future.

If the writing arena is frustrating to you, I've also got everything posted on Fictionpress.com: >LINKAGE<
Feel free to rip it to pieces there as well. 3nodding

Random advice from Charlie:

I found that "keeping a vague idea of the storyline in my head" really only works for short stories. By writing an outline before starting my most recent story, and by breaking each chapter into 4 writable chunks, I've been able to write 3 3/4 chapters so far! (each chapter is about 3,000 words. So far, this is my longest story and it isn't even halfway done yet.)

So although you might hit a plot bump or seven, knowing what's supposed to happen as well as what's going to happen next will at the very mean you know what's going on. Of course, it still doesn't help you get your characters from point A to point B all the time, but at least you know where Point A and Point B are.

Ahh, thank you! This is something I've tried before, but what happens whenever I do it is that it gets too complex, too elaborate, and then I get overwhelmed by my own creation and inevitably drop the project. neutral

What I do these days is write a section, get an inkling of what I want to transpire next, and jot down maybe two or three points, like names that come to mind or themes I want to carry, or a situation I want to work out, but beyond that I don't shoot for anything exact because it ends up being suicide.

What I love about the first chapter of this particular work is that I knew little of what was going to happen when I sat down and decided to write and it was amazing. I simply heard sentences in my head and wrote down what I heard. Truly this is what Grecian Bards meant when they said the Muses spoke to them. It was a really unique experience. That's why I've decided to try writing this particular project this way and see what I can get and learn from it. smile

Personally, I need to have my plot planned out scene-by-scene, and shame on me should I get lazy and try to sum up several scenes in one bullet point. That way, if I ever come off the falling action of a chapter not knowing what I'm doing anymore, I can always consult the notes I left myself. It also helps me haul myself out of tangents. And tangents are inevitable. At least one per chapter. The more often I check my notes, the sooner I catch it, the less time I spend writing things I'll just delete later.

Hello! I'm bumping my thread because very soon I'm going to begin work on another chapter of 'Bad Timing'.

Those of you who haven't already, please read the first post, read the three chapters that are up, and please rate and leave your comments on the writing arena entries (or start there and come back here if you'd like to give a detailed analysis of what you think).

All feedback is precious, so thank you! smile
