The only true path leading through the forest, it is only visible when the moon shines brightly. It is surprisingly safe, despite the dangers of the forest, anyone could even sleep there without coming to harm from a fiend.

A hooded and cloaked figure made her way down the path, shrouded in the shadows cast by the tree branches arcing above her. The shades seemed to trail after her, catching the edges of her pitch-black cloak, following her like dogs following their mistress.

Almost silent footsteps followed the figure. If she were to look behind her, she'd see the redhead walking as softly as her shoes permitted. She had not intended to go unnoticed, she merely wanted to see how long it'd take the cloaked figure to notice her follower.

She turned on her heel, whipping around with the speed of a serpent. The shadows at her feet reared up, subsiding only when their mistress spotted her follower.

"Alnette."

"Ah, Lady Emma." Alnette bowed politely. "I'm glad you were able to notice me. Many dangers stalk these woods." Her eyes glinted mischievously in the moonlight. "So, what do you think?"

She curtsied in return, sending the shadows back to their corners with a glance.

Many dangers? Well, me, I suppose.

"It is certainly interesting."

"I can't claim credit for the enchantment her, unfortunately. That, like most of the Necropolis' defenses, were my predecessor's doing. However, the hundred undead soldiers lurking in the depths of the woods, were my idea. I care very much for my people and their safety."

"I imagine that you do. Even as a visitor, I can tell that." Her head cocked to one side, an oddly birdlike gesture. "Your predecessor?"

"The man who was the baron before I was. His family name was Argalt and his family ruled this area for a very long time, until his death. Much of everything around here is his doing as I haven't had the chance to alter things to suit my tastes without harming anyone."

"I see. You have done an excellent job." She smiled, readjusting her cloak about her shoulders.

"Just wandering. I've always enjoyed the night, especially on clear nights where you can see the moon. It makes me feel refreshed." She gazed upward at the moon. "What about yourself?"

"A reprieve." She said, sadness entering her eyes. "Another attack on the estates, and we saw fit to flee. My husband suggested that I hide out here...he has gone to seek aid."

"I see..." She closed her eyes. "If you'd like, I could lend you use of part of my army. It's the least I can do for a friend."
