This is a question I have been asked a 100 times over. what is the difference between daycare and preschool?
I also want to discuss the choice to go back to work or stay home and what your options are and what you need to look for if your looking to enroll your child somewhere.
I just thought I would open the subject up and we can discuss it.

I felt weird about sending my Alex to day care. It felt like having someone else raise him. Luckily since my husband and I are in our 30's we were able to work opposite shifts for a while so we could trade off. Now that I'm on a leave of absence from work and going back to school, I may just stay home with Alex until he's in school. I don't think it's a bad thing to send your child to a day care so you can work. In most instances it's hard to make ends meet without two incomes. My income would have completely gone to paying for childcare so it didn't make sense to us. On the downside, Alex doesn't have any kids to spend time with. He is quiet and shy around kids at the park.

I'm thinking about running my own little house care center for 3 or 4 kids in the area, so I can stay home with Zu but still have a good paying job ^_^

Villian that is how I got started.check into your area regulations. It can be pretty hefty fines to not fallow them. what state are you in and I can get you the information?
4 and a robot- Check into a family home childcare in your area that teaches preschool. it is just a few hours a day and your little fella would get the socialzation he needs with out breaking your wallet. I have done it a few times. It works out great smile and there is a small class size not like at a big preschool that he may feel overwhelmed.

I hated sending my daughter to a preschool because I didn't know the owner personally she was my sister's boyfriend at the times mother so she was close with my mother and sister but not me.
I have happily though found daycare with personal friends of mine and I feel so much better and at ease sending my daughter there. Gives me the nessary comfort to be able to go to work without concerns.

I love what I do! Taking care of kids and getting to watch them grow is a blast! Would anyone be interested in seeing pics of my family home daycare? I could post them if you want to see. It is a home and daycare at the same time. I get all of the play centers in while attempting to keep a home environment smile I like the best of both worlds!(plus I have to live here!)

Devoted Daddy I plan on homeschooling. and I am a stay at home daddy. I've thought about homeschooling as well but am worried about being able to teach my son as the things he needs to learn. I'm no genius.

There are some home-schooling co-ops, where many parents who want to home-school get together and help each other out. Also, depending on the state you're in, there are still rules and regulations on homeschooling (mostly registering the child and standarized testing, but some states may ask for more). My best friend and his wife home school, she was raised that way, and it works out really well for them.
Personally I have no problem with Sophie going to the public school system. (It would kinda be hypocritical of me if I did... I teach two year olds and I plan on going back to college for a Lit Ed degree). Realistically, the only problem I have with the public system is that a lot of the curriculum seems like it's being "dumbed down" so that every one learns to the test. However, at the same time, while she's going to the school system she'll be exposed to ideals and cultures that I can't provide her with, and those are important to me... I want her to be able to see and judge for herself what she believes in (though keep in mind that I'll be setting an example of my beliefs that should give her pause to think on them). Simply put, there are some things I do not have access to education wise that the schools do.

I worry about class size and lack of funding for schools. I live in AZ where they are having problems with the state budget and it seems like the first place they cut is schools.
