~~~Damascus~~~
Damascus is the northeastern city in the kingdom, and also the first city Altaïr visits in order to carry out an assassination.
The most impressive feature of the district and probably the city is the Omayyad Mosque of the Merchant King's Palace. Believe it or not the interior of The Palace is lightly secured, unless one of the Merchant King's lavish parties is in full swing. Slightly north is the Sarouja Souk Market Quarter, where traffic is moderate and so is security. Sarouja Souk holds the reputation of being the largest market in the Holy Land. It is split into two separate large structures that run from east to west.
The Omayyad Mosque and Grand Courtyard dominate the district, the Grand Courtyard north of the Mosque is an interesting place.
A female guard was on patrol in the Grand Courtyard of Damascus. She was standing quite still with a stoic look about her, loose, brown hair tossed about in the wind. She stood with a pike in one hand and her other hand rested on the hilt of the sword at her hip. Her face was stern and lips pressed together into a thin line.
She was tense despite the natural beauty of the gardens surrounding her. Exquisite roses and flowering shrubs filled the air with a pleasant, sweet aroma.
A cloud passed over the sun momentarily and the garden was cast into shadow, she shivered and her armor creaked slightly. She was tired of being on watch but the city had their best guards on high alert ever since word had leaked out that the king was hosting another party. She had already grumbled about it to a few other guards but what could they do if it was the Captain of the Guard's orders? Let alone what could she do as a woman?
Jean frowned as she saw a small urchin peek around the garden wall. The thin boy ducked back behind the wall quickly with a scared look on his face. She sighed and walked towards where he was hiding, intending to warn him that he was not allowed to be here.
Jean removed her hand from the hilt of her sword so as not to unduely frighten the boy. As she rounded the corner she saw someone dart behind a hedge, not boy sized at all. She peered around the corner and saw the scrawny boy jump down off the wall on the other side. Her brows furrowed and she spun around, moving as quietly as she could and drawing her sword from its leather sheath.
The man had not been in clothes like the boy at all, all white actually, and she'd spotted a flash of red as well. She sidled towards the hedge where he'd hidden himself. Just because she was a female didn't make her a weak spot in their line of defense. She could see another guard a few rows of hedges up from her and she motioned for him to take her station. He nodded thickly, vexed by her drawn sword. She glared at him and he scampered into position.
As soon as she was relieved of her post, Jean plunged the tip of her rapier into the shrub where the man was supposedly hiding. Nothing.
She saw movement on her periferals and spun, running after the sprinting assassin with her sword brandished and at the ready. "Stop! Assassin!"
{OOC: this is just a random assassin dude of mine own invention, basically an NPC, protect him if you dare. >:3}
Sin tells Rax to protect his fellow assassin just by tapping his shoulder. then Rax jumped the guard and sin swiftly pulled the assassin out of danger
(((Uhhh It's the captain again...i understand that u want to make your character mysterious, but you can still add more detail to your posts without revealing much about him. Past-tense posts too, please smile )))
{He is a freakin' mystery to me, I don't get his purpose. Please give me more substance to reply to. It makes this absolutely harder on me to compose a reply when you haven't give me much to work with at all. Describe more so I know what happened and how. Simply knocking a guy out of the way doesn't mean he's safe. How does the dog jump at my character? This is all important!}
Jean fell back as the massive dog jumped on her. It's jaws snapped at her, but it's teeth couldn't connect with anything. It's claws simply glanced off of her armor.
Meanwhile the young, male assassin got the wind knocked out of him. Suddenly there was this other man yanking on his arm and he lost his balance. He stumbled forcefully into a pillar and doubled over, coughing and trying to get air back into his lungs. "W-who are you?" The young man gasped in a thin voice, he was at most sixteen years of age.
The guard gritted her teeth and shoved the dog off of her torso. It's claws raked her cloak and tore a significant hole in the fabric. She growled back at it and brandished her sword. She addressed its master. "You dare to aid this criminal?!"
((im sorry))
Sin looked back at the guard and said "he was just doing his job, just needed to get some food for the clan but he ran out of money, this fool, i assure you he wont do this again and if he does he will get what's coming to him. Oh and any your guards mess with any clan member of mine again your guards will get their share of pain" he said in a dark cold way with sharp eyes and sharp teeth bared and his nails slowly turned into claws
The guard's eyes were livid and her brown hair whipped around her face as the wind picked up again with more force. "You assassins are wanted wherever you go. There will be no end to your persecution! You Saracens have taken our holy land that belongs to King Richard!"
She spat at the dark clad assassin. "You cannot ask me to stay my hand simply by your say! I act under my own orders to protect."
The young assassin's eyes grew wide with fear at the two figures before him. The young woman was surely braver than he could ever be and this man was taunting her even!
His legs seemed to have turned to jelly as he tried to stand. He grabbed the edge of the very same low wall that had felled him and got to his feet unsteadily and unobtrusively. Maybe they wouldn't see him if he snuck off...
{Thank you, that's a bit better.}
Zero was watching the entire exchange from the top of the castle's overhanging wall. This world needs not an exchange of force, but an exchange of open dialogue around one table. She sighed. If only that would ever happen.
A quick glance around told her that nobody was watching, so Zero jumped over the stone wall, landing behind a small shrub with a soft thud. The hidden blade slid from it's guantlet with a twitch of her pinky finger. She crouched, watching through a bare gap in the leaves, waiting for the opportune moment. After a few tantalizingly slow seconds, the taller assassin lunged at the guard.
Now! she thought, and leapt instinctively from behind the bush and skidded through the dirt in front of the guard, parrying the assassin's blade with her own. "Sin," she hissed, clenching her teeth, the flat of her blade pressed against his sharp claws, "Let there not be any more bloodshed today."
Behind her, the female guard was shocked, but hadn't abandoned her battle pose. Leave! Zero thought desperately, Just leave... Sin's a beast when it comes to confrontation, I cannot hold him long.
Jean started to swing her rapier sideways towards her opponent when a girl ran between her and the assassin. She stopped her blade midstrike and tipped up her blade so as not to stab the innocent.
She was confused for a minute but saw desperation in the girl's face. She recognized the girl by her garb for an assassin but she'd actually come between the two fighters. "What is this? Confronting your own kind. This is certainly a day for oddities! Pourquoi?"
Jean picked up movement in the bushes again and her brown eyes caught those of the frightened boy assassin. She frowned at him. "You started this, acting so guilty, boy." Her blade tipped down and pointed at him figuratively.
The young assassin ducked his head behind the low wall, frightened by the woman's blazing glare. He certainly didn't want to meet the end of her blade this day.
He scrambled to his feet again and dashed through a hedge, branches catching his assassin's guise and scratching his hands and face. He grunted and pulled himself free, leaping out into the street on the other side of the wall and skidding to a halt in the crowded flow of traffic. A large man shoved him but he wove through the mass of bodies until he was finally across the street and fled up a ladder down the nearest alley.
Zero tensed her muscles and pushed Sin back with the flats of the two blades. He skidded backwards a foot or two in the dirt. "Come on, Sin." she said firmly. "The boy is safe. We should return to headquarters." She slid the larger sword back in it's sheath.
Lyra looked around Damascus, looking pretty much like everyone else at the moment. She held a small black wolf pup in her arms in a blanket, so he wouldn't get caught by the shoes of the others walking around them. Cain yawned, now napping, and Lyra grinned. Get sleep now, cause you and me will have to get back to work later... She looked around. She was running out of supplies for herself again. She finally broke off from the crowd and slipped into an alley, where she put Cain on the ground so he could wake up and stretch.
Sitting on the roof of a building, Tak looked around. She sighed, on the ledge and letting her legs dangle off as she looked down at the crowd of people. She spotted trouble, but it soon disappaited, so she had gotten bored again. She had her sword drawn and in hand, and she was spinning the sheath as she observed everyone. She stopped and sheathed the sword and put it down, sighing. Her hand went up to her tattoo automatically, as she thought about it. I still can't remember...who gave me this tattoo, and what it means...
[[Jerusalem]]
Luke sighed as they reached Damascus. "Yes.. Please keep these. Including the food." he said to the animalkeeper, paying him and leading the two horses into a stall. He and Jake walked into the actual city. "Nearly not as big as Jerusalem." he sighed. The guards were quite lazy here. Even with swords, the two walked in easily.
Jake adjusted the knife in his boots for a second, then walked forward. They walked into a dark alley, glancing around. "Time to get a good look of this place." he smirked. He jumped, spreading his arms and legs, climbing up the walls swiftly, being followed by Luke.
Luke and Jake smirked at the large marketplace. "This'll be interesting.." they said in unison.
Lyra turned as two boys came int othe alley. She hid behind some crates and watched as they climbed out of sight. Cain wagged his tail as he followed their movements. He nearly ran to growl at them, but Lyra held him back with her shoe. She walked back int osight when they seemed gone and looked around. "Guess we should restock, buddy. This should be a good spot." She kneeled down and loaded her dart blower. She waited until someone stopped to conversate with a merchant. She aimed and blew out, and the dart flew out. It whizzed past the man's pants, catching the bag of money on his waist and trapping it against the wall near him. She signaled Cain. The wolf pup ran through the crowd and jumped up to snatch the bag, but was seen by the man who she took the bag from. "Hey!" He yelled as he charged the pup. Cain jumped in surprise and ran to the alley. Lyra cursed under her breath and scooped the pup and moeny into her arms. She quickly put the bag away and put Cain in the bag hanging on her back, adn jumped up to grab onto a pipe that ran down the wall of the building. She climbed out of sight ofthe old man, who looked around confused. She made her way to the buildign rooftop and sat down, catching her breath. "Shoot, that was close..."
Tak stretched. She was bored. She stood up and walked to the alley side of the building. She climbed down and into teh crowd again, to start walking. No one gave her and her crossbow nad sword a second look. They could tell, she was a freelancer. She was know nfor helping out the people sometimes, but mostly she hated being told what to do, so no one asked her for favors.
Luke quickly turned as he heard ruffles, growls, yelling, and speaking nearby. "Who's there?" he asked, flicking his right arm and purposely shooting near the head, but not actually grazing the person. It spun at a great speed, then clung to a roof garden's leg behind her.
Jake was also turned, ready to draw his sword. "I don't think she's any harm.. But I might be wrong." he shrugged, taking his hand off the hilt of sword. As Luke walked over to grab his knife back, Jake sighed and followed, jumping a roof to be where the girl was. "And you are?" he asked, resting his left wrist on the sword the hung on his left side.
