Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokemon. The world is widely inhabited by creatures known as Pokemon. We humans live alongside Pokemon as friends. At times we play together, and at other times we work together. Some people use their Pokemon to battle and develop closer bonds with them.

However, some people like me don't like that happy attitude and use Pokemon to take over the world! Hello, my name is Almus Rayne and I am here to explain to you how Pokemon work in the main RP of this forum. Here I will explain what you can and can't get from Professor Rowan, unless you come up with a really good reason. I will also explain what Pokemon you can catch and when. The final thing you will find here is a list of what is considered Ancient/Legendary and what that means in regards to this RP. Enjoy catching your Pokemon and using them for whatever friendly or unfriendly way you wish.

Rowan Forbidden Pokemon

There are many different ways and reasons a person could luckily obtain a wild pokemon at the beginning of their adventure. Maybe they did something special or paid some hefty cost and thus were given a special pokemon by Professor Rowan. That is why this following list was created. All of these pokemon are forbidden to be given out by Professor Rowan no matter what. You can still obtain them through special means but you just can't get them from Professor Rowan.

Abra, Azurill, Cleffa, Clefairy, Dunsparce, Farfetch’d, Feebas, Gastly, Grimer, Heracross, Igglybuff, Illumise, Kecleon, Lunatone, Luvdisc, Magikarp, Minun, Nincada, Nosepass, Pichu, Pinsir, Plusle, Sableye, Seviper, Shuppet, Solrock, Spinda, Tropius, Volbeat, Wynaut, Zangoose, and any pokemon unable to catch until badge four as well as second evolution pokemon and shinny pokemon.

Note that the phrase second evolution pokemon has an exception to first generation pokemon. For example: Jigglypuff, while now second evolution, counts as first and is available as a starter pokemon.

Suggested Pokemon Encounters

This list does not apply to the Pokemon you get from Professor Rowan. Please see the Pokemon of the RP thread for more information.

Use this as guidelines for finding and/or catching pokemon. While it's fine if you see a pokemon earlier than listed, please please please avoid catching the pokemon until the right badge level. I arranged this list so that the RP remain fair and that god-moding is not used. Do note that, you can catch pokemon earlier than listed as long as you PM me with a very good reason. Nothing like catching a Spiritomb with no badges will be accepted though. Just remember to use your common sense and patience when catching pokemon.

Note: Most evolved pokemon are not included in the catch list. Use common sense when catching evolved pokemon. Please avoid catching third evolution pokemon at all - just evolve your pokemon up to get third evolutions.

---{Key}---
- (S=#) : Means they are found only in a swarm. The # represents about how many pokemon should be in the swarm not counting that pokemon. The only way to catch one is to remember that the others will be trying to stop you. You have to fight them all at once, not individually. If the pokemon in the swarm has a higher evolution, the swarm will consist of the next evolution up. If the pokemon that would be surrounded by a swarm is a final evolution, the swarm will be of that pokemon. In other words, if you look down you will see that 1 Dratini is protected by 15 Dragonair and 1 Gyardados is protected by 7 other Gyarados.

- * : Means these pokemon are extremely hard to find and/or chase down and/or defeat in a battle to catch. Do not just waltz up to them, use a Caterpie, throw a pokeball, and have them caught. You need to work for it and really convince this forum's GMs that you earned that pokemon. Also, try to avoid going after one of these unless you really want that pokemon. If you aren't obsessed with one of these pokemon please leave them alone for someone else who is. We would like to not have any doubles of these. If someone already has one of these you can still go after another one if it means that much to you

Ancient and Legendary Pokemon

There are many Pokemon out there that go well beyond what is considered rare. These are the ancient Pokemon who are either extinct and revived through modern technology, Pokemon left over from ages passed who live in nearly sealed off environments, or the ultra rare Pokemon that just became so powerful after hundreds of years and never died. The other type are what we call legendary which are unique breeds of Pokemon that rarely reproduce and have been famed by people for their power and beauty. A list of what is to be considered ancient and legendary in this RP can be found below.

-Ancient Pokemon

Ancient Pokemon are simply those who existed during times before man. There are four ways to encounter one. Find a research facility studying Ancient Pokemon as someone there should own a revived ancient Pokemon themselves. Find the NPC Jeff the Traveling Wanderer. Find a fossil and have it revived for you (fossils can only be revived after badge 6). Finally, find a cave that is almost completely sealed off that have ancient Pokemon still living within it. Such a cave can only be found by a Mod pointing one out during the adventure. Everybody is limited to only one of these Pokemon. Here is the list of all Pokemon considered ancient in this RP.

Aerodactyle, Anorith, Cranidos, Kabuto, Lileep, Omanyte, Relicanth, and Shieldon.

-Legendary Pokemon

These Pokemon for the most part should be avoided entirely unless for a very special reason. They might be included on and off during this RP for storyline reasons but at those points a Mod will be the one to make them appear and disappear from the presence of the RP. You may see one run or fly passed you but only at a distance great enough so you can see them but they cannot see you (i.e. In episode one of the anime, Ash sees Ho-Oh but it is very far away and fly away from him.) A legendary Pokemon will never appear in, on, under, above, around, or near a town. All legendary Pokemon are considered private NPCs owned by the Mod team. Here is a list of all Pokemon considered legendary in this RP.

Arceus, Articuno, Azelf, Celebi, Cresselia, Darkrai, Deoxys, Dialga, Entei, Giratina, Groudon, Heatran, Ho-Oh, Jirachi, Kyogre, Latias, Latios, Lugia, Manaphy, Mesprit, Mew, Mewtwo, Moltres, Palkia, Phione, Raikou, Rayquaza, Regigigas, Shaymin, Suicune, Uxie, Zapados
