You begin the game as what is known as a Summoner, a person with a summoning device on his/her arm that summons powerful ancient creatures to battle. Your goal? Challenge and defeat all rivals to become the best Summoner in the world!
The basic object of this game is to battle and defeat opponents for experience, the experience gathered after battle will be divided between the Summons you used plus yourself. You will need to level up just as much as your Summons need to as a weak Summoner can be easily defeated in battle even with powerful Summons.
Now that you understand the basic concept, lets get down to some of the details. [Read the next post for more information]

1. The Use of Summons
Most Summoners use Summons for battle, battles tend to be sport for Summoners and is needed to help the Summon grow. First, take note of the device on your arm, that is known as a Summoning Armlet. This allows you to summon a Summon, but not by itself, Summons are spiritual creatures born inside crystals so a crystal is needed as well as a Summoning Armlet to allow your Summon to take physical form. Now that we have an understanding of how to summon a Summon, lets move on. You may have noticed but your profile starts off with a health number on your human character, this is not an error, it is definatly meant to be there. When you summon a Summon your health number becomes indirectly linked to that Summons health number, so if your Summon takes damage, so do you. If you lose contiousness your Summon will lose it's form and return to it's crystal, so be careful, watch your health as well as your Summons health.
"Hey! My Summon has less health then his/hers!" This may be due to the Summons stats or level, more on this in the next post. [Read the next post for more information]

2. Summon Stats and Levels
Each race of Summon has it's own basic stats and stat increase amounts. Where as a Summon like Baby Zee has alot of Health and Stamina, a Summon like Flame will have standard stats but a slightly higher amount of magic power. Why is this? Well this is to make the Summons more versatile, each Summon has it's own strengths and weaknesses assigned to it's stats. This allows for people to pick and choose for a Summon that compliments his/her own style of gameplay ability. So why are some Summons stronger in all stats then others? With some Summons they begin very weak but their stat increases from level to level are higher then other Summons that seem to begin with strong stats. But this is only one of the reasons, another is Crystal Level. You may have noticed by now but the Summon Crystal Shop has crystals only available to certain level Summoners, they have a Crystal Level assigned to them to prevent weaker Summoners from getting a large advantage by picking a powerful Summon that they can't handle straight away. The higher a Crystal Level, the better the stats of the Summon when it is born. The last reason may be the race of the Summon, where as most Summons begin with stats equal to their Crystal Level, some Summons have weaker stats (Imp) then Summons at their Crystal Level. Summons may be weaker then their Crystal Level due to the abilities they learn later, as such more skilled Summoners can pick these to challenge their own abilities and gain a uniquely strong Summon for all their efforts.
"What does growing mean in Summon Wars?" Growth of a Summon is put down to it's appearance, when it's appearance changes so does a Summons natural abilitys, like growing up. [Read the next post for more information]

3. Growing Up A Summon grows up as it levels, unless you say you don't want it to. The advantage of a grown up Summon is that they have higher stats and can learn some more moves. The disadvantage is that any move they can't handle is no longer available to them and you may not beable to learn moves that your un-grown Summon could have learned at certain levels.
So their's a good side and a bad one, pretty much your choise on what you do. When a Summon grows up you can clearly see it, they can only grow into predetermined Summons though. Some Summons have the ability to grow up more then once, the growth stages are as follows. Child - Adult - Final Final forms tend to be much more powerful then Child forms, however they do learn less techniques.
"Great, but I've seen most of this stuff in another game, I'm guessing the battle system will be pretty simple and favour stronger Summons." Actually no, there is a feild you have to traverse and moves that can be used at different distances aswell as a few more variations that make this game unique. 4. Summon Wars Battle SystemLet's begin by explaining the feild you'll be playing on, a standard 5 by 5 feild. This means the feild will be 25 squares in size. On each feild you can summon (by normal rules) only one Summon. This one Summon will be summoned on the furthest most square from your opponent in the middle of the board, we'll talk more about this placement when get to a lettered grid. So here is your feild, not too exiting is it? Bear in mind this game is new, so there may be different feild types in the future. This is what's known as a standard feild, there are no hiding spots, no advantages to specific Summons just a 5 by 5 map. So at the start of the game, chances are your Summon will either be heading over to it's opponent or setting up a strategy, your strategy could involve numberous things due to the differences in all the Summons. 'So pretty much you have stand next to the opponent in order to deliver an attack right?' No not quite, some Summons use ranged attacks, currently some Summons can attack two spaces infront/behind or to the side of them and some Summons can attack every square around them at once, including diagonal. However, yes, with some Summons it may be nessessary to stand next to the opponent and 'Beat them up'. Okay, so we already have an understanding of the standard feild, the moves Summons can use and a basic understanding of where our Summon is when it begins battle. But how in the world are we going to tell our opponent where our Summon is or where it is moving without having to draw the feild each time we make a move. Well, I tink I've solved that problem, each square on the feild below has a letter assigned to it from A to Y. So why A to Y? Well there's not enough squares to go to Z and the alphabet seemed like a good idea...Still does actually. Now to tell exaclty where your Summon is on the feild, well to be honest the first character to make a post decides, they'll add their Summon to the feild and then you have to add yours to the opposite side of the feild. But they're limited too, they have to summon to either C, O, K or W. So if they choose C, you're assigned to W and if they choose O, you're assigned to K...Or vise versa. There really is no advantage of choosing where to Summon, none what so ever. Next I think we'll talk about the stats with regards to the battle system. [Read the next post for more information]

5.Summon Stats on the Battle System All the information on a Summons Profile that is relevant to the battle system is layed out below: Type: [Element type] Form: [Form taken] Stats Health: # Stamina: # Magic Stamina: # Power: # Magic Power: # Defense: # Experience: # Experience until next level: # Techniques learned:
For now, we'll ignore Type and Form as that part of the game has not been implemented yet. In short they are for increased or reduced damage based on resistance and weakness. We'll begin with health, the most basic stat that everyone should know, your health details the amount of damage you can still take. In battle you should watch both your Summons health and your own health, should your Summons health reach 0 in battle, it returns to it's crystal, inable to battle for the remainder of the battle. Should your own health reach 0, you lose the battle...You can also lose the battle if you run out of Summons that can battle. Next is stamina, this stat details your Summons ability to make a move, each technique will take up the mentioned amount of stamina. If your stamina reaches 0, your Summon will not beable to use a technique. Each turn your stamina raises by 10%. If your stamina is less then 10, it will raise by 1. Similar to stamina is magic stamina, techniques that require magic stamina in order to be used will take up their mentioned amount of magic stamina. If your magic stamina reaches 0, your Summon will not beable to use a technique that requires it. Each turn your magic stamina raises by 10%. If your magic stamina is less then 10, it will not raise. Power is probably one of the most useful stats in the game, when your Summon uses a technique that physically strikes an opponent, the damage done will be between 1 and the number listed under power. The damage amount will be calculated by the Random Number Generator and taken off your opponents Summons health if they are in range. Magic power is based off of power, however when your opponent uses a technique that magically strikes an opponent, the damage done will be between 1 and the number listed under magic power. Once again the damage amount will be calculated by the Random Number Generator and taken off your opponents Summons health if they are in range. Damage will be reduced by the amount listed by defense, this stat shouldn't rise much. When you obtain experience, your experience stat goes up, this simply details how much experience your Summon has obtained. The next stat is to be used with the experience stat, we'll call this the level up stat for now. It tells you how much experience your Summon needs to have to reach the next level. It will always be higher then your experience stat. Finally we have techniques learned, obviously listing the technique your Summon has learned. Please note that all level 1 techniques are automatically learned by the Summon upon birth. When your Summon reaches specific levels it will learn a specific technique, the only way for them to unlearn a technique is for them to be no longer compatable with te technique, what does this mean? There is no limit to the number of learned techniques you can use in battle, you can use anything listed under techniques learned. The only real way to unlearn a technique is if your Summon grows up to a Summon that is incompatable with the technique. Now that we know how Summons learn techniques, we need to know the technique types. They are as follows: Offensive Defensive Passive Offensive techniques are when a Summon attacks another Summon either physically or magically. Defensive techniques are used like support magic, they can increase defense, make techniques miss or even increase the speed in which your summon moves. Both Offensive and Defensive techiques must be activated to be used, they take up your turn when used. Passive techniques activate at the start of a battle and are constant throughout the battle unless interrupted. They do not take up a turn.
And with that we have mentioned all stats with regards to the battle system. The final topic is about Summon Cards and their effect on the game. [Read the next post for more information]

6.Summon Cards If you thought we were done last post, you're half right. You already have all the knowledge you need to win standard battles. However there is more you may want to know, like, why is there a card shop? What do the cards do? Cards allow you to 'defy the rules' in a sense, some can increase your Summons stats, some can change the feild and I know of one that lets you Summon another Summon to the feild while you already have one on there. So there are the advantages in a nutshell, the ability to alter things to help you win a match. Also a Summon Card can be used like a passive technique, it does not take up a turn, however if you use a Summon card that card is lost forever, you could always buy another one...However Summon Cards are very expensive, it seems only advanced players have enough money to even buy one, so chances are you wont see someone use on while you're starting off.
So that's it for the tutorial, you're now ready for anything the game throws at you in battle. Goodluck. mrgreen
