To the one that I serve

This is something I wrote almost 2 years ago. So it comes from my BOS. I was wondering what your thoughts on the matter are:

The 5 Gods

Lord of the sun/King of witchcraft
Lord of Life
Lord of the Hunt/Lord of the animals
Lord of Grain/Lord of Plants
Lord of Death/Keeper of Keys/Lord of Wisdom

Spring=Rules by Lord of Life
Summer=Rules by Lord pf Grain/Plants
Fall=Ruled by Lord of Death
Winter=Ruled over by Lord of the Hunt/Lord of the animals

The 5 Goddess

Lady of the Moon/Queen of Witches
Lady of Life
Lady of the Harvest/plants
Queen of the Wildwood
Queen of Rebirth

Spring=Lady of Life
Summer=Lady of the Harvest/Plants
Fall=Lady of Rebirth
Winter: Lady/Queen of the Wildwood

While all the Gods and Goddesses are associated with witchcraft the God of the Sun and the Goddess of the moon are the King and Queen of the witches and wisdom/philosophy. The magical aspect of witchcraft for me is as much philosophy as it is spirituality and religious. That's where the magic comes from.

I wrote this thought pattern February 13 2008. Thoughts? Questions? Comments?

To the one that I serve

People have asked why 5 and here is my answer. It seems to me that in what I read the God and Goddess of witchcraft seem to fit in 1 of 4 catergories:

Sun and Moon
Life
Death
Animals
Plants

I now understand them tp be 5 separate deities.

This is great! I've always thought that it was odd that there seemed to be three aspects when it came to mainstream paganism, but really 4 seemed to be the magick number for me. There are 4 seasons, 4 major elements, why not 4 aspects of the god/dess?

The fifth you have added for me has been a constant...god of sun and goddess of moon. Wonderful! It blends my natural thinking of 4 with the general paganism view of God=sun, Goddess=moon.

Thanks, this is great!

I just have a very, different way of thinking. I think that all deities and their aspects come from one source. I never thought of it as just 5, but what you said makes a lot of sense.

I must state that aside from this I hold the belief that all deities are individual beings. This is a specific God and Goddess and these two have been revealing themselves to me. I believe that these are unique deities who may have some similarities with other deities, but are not those deities at all.

I still need to work more on getting to know these deities. There are some keys in what I have read in both Artisson's work and in the work Hedge Rider. I just need to gain more insight from them on how to make the associations.

I'm a hard polytheist- and I see people making gods to fit numerology instead of meeting gods as people a lot, so I can't say what I believe about this system until I was in ritual with them and got a sense of who or what they are- but without any direct revelation or reason, I'm not really in a position to comment on them.

I am a hard polytheist myself. It is one God and one Goddess that have those 5 faces or aspects. This duo are not any other deities. They are two beings that have 5 different primary aspects.

It sounds a lot like soft polytheism when you put it that way- the whole facets thing. I think people are multifaceted- and the gods may be too, but when someone calls me on the phone they don't call Riri: The Gardner or Riri: The Cook.

There is mythology to go with it. I just haven't written it down yet. Best way is to look at the sabbats as I post them in the guild. Those two deities are two specific deities in the pantheon of my tradition. They are not limited to those faces, but those are the ones worshiped. Same Goddess just worshiped in different aspects at different times.

I like what you've come up with actually.
It makes a lot of sense and I can definitely relate to it. I'd love to know the mythology behind it.
