We are all addicted and we know it, so probably we've learned some things while playing hours of Booty Grab when we could have been doing something more productive.

Share your tips here, O Booty Grab Gurus.

Examples:

~Are certain times better for grabbing (less 'game full' errors)?
~Do some fish give more Hermit Cats or Boxes?
~Which tanks seem to trigger more? Momo's, Meats, etc. or mixed?
~Which fish lag the most?

I'll share a tip I read somewhere and really works. You know how annoying mermaids are flipping around everywhere? If you tap a glowing tank while it's counting down they will stay almost still thoughout the game. Now, I can actually tolerate mermaids. biggrin

HOW TO MAKE A “I’M GLOWING” THREAD.

This took me awhile to figure it out but I finally did it.
This is copy and pasted and there is a helpful comment from blu_r0se towards the bottom.

1. Make a thread entitled "Glowing" or something with glowing in the title.

2. Post what you want to say (and to get your tank into the thread) Do not post again on the first page! This will bump your tank down to your last post where NO ONE WILL SEE IT! If you feel you must thank people, or promise to tap their tanks, do it in your first post!

3. Copy the url address of your thread

4. The quickest and easiest way to code this for people who don't know how is to go to mail. Open a new private letter. Click the "URL" button. Paste your thread address into the box that pops up. When it says "Web Page Title" post what you want it to say in your signature, for instance "BUMP here if I glow!".

5. Copy all the text from your message.

6. Go to the gear wheel looking icon at the top right of the screen. Do not click the gear! Hover over the arrow next to it, a drop down menu will appear.

7. Select "Signature". (Who would have guessed, right?)

8. Paste your code into the box.

9. Scroll down, and click on "Save All Changes".

Congratulations! You now have a recycled Bump thread!

True! To make it lag free go to your aquarium. You will see another gear wheel to the top right. Click it. Uncheck the second box so it isn't "High Quality". This will make your tank load faster, and your game play better so people (and you) get more gold!

Where are you supposed to post glow threads? I was wanting to make one, but without knowing where to put it, I haven't gotten to it yet.

From my experience, the best time to booty Grab is around 3 to 5am Central time. Less people seem to be on, so you don't have as much trouble getting to play those high yield tanks. 4laugh

I have a comment to add to SireniteeRae's comments about making a Glow Thread (which I know isn't exactly booty grab).

When you make a glow thread post your tank(s) on the first page.
Then DO post repeatedly until the page is full (15 posts) and then delete all but the first post of each tank. So for example my glow thread has my main and two mule tanks posted on the first page and NOTHING ELSE. When you get bumped and people see you glowing in the Aquarium forum it is your tank they want to see. This makes for a very lag free and fast loading first page of your glow thread.

Also, if you put a link to your glow thread in your sig or posts make it go to a REPLY BOX (not page one of your thread). It really speeds things up for people bumping your glow thread when they see you glowing some place else.

Okay, these comments ARE about booty grabbing. smile

Find which browser works best for you.
For me Firefox is the best all around browser I have tried. Threads load reasonably fast with it. Next is Google Chrome. BG thread pages do not load as quickly but individual tanks load faster. Last is Internet Explorer. I think it is a bit of a dog.

If you have mules you can have multiple accounts logged on to Gaia at the same time on the same computer if you use different browsers. I log my main onto Firefox and my mules onto Chrome and IE. My main in firefox is the one that goes through the BG thread pages until I find a glowing tank. I bump and play the tank. Then I right click on the URL in the open tank window and copy it before I close out from that game. Open new tab in Chrome and paste in the URL. Play second game, let the score save, then close. Open new tab in IE, paste in the URL again and play third game. Then I go back to Firefox and start searching for the next glowing tank.

Using that method many times I am able to play the same glow three times. It gets you more gold and helps the tank owner get closer to a full game.

This is also why I think IE is kind of slow. Using the same URL I am loading the same tank/game into Chrome and then IE and the IE game almost always takes longer to load AND lags more in the game.

If your internet is slow and you see a glowing tank but there is still a lot of booty grab page left to load click on the X in your browser window to stop the page loading. Tanks will continue to populate but it will stop other unnecessary stuff from continuing to load like signature art and photos and stuff. That way you can click on your booty grab Play Now link and load the tank faster.

Your internet connection affects how fast a BG thread page or an individual tank loads (duh! smile ) but once a game has loaded almost 100% of lag is attributable to your computer's graphic and/or CPU processors being overloaded. I have had plenty of opportunity to test this with my laptop being connected dial up (sigh) and also when I have it places where I can connect high speed. I've also compared with a friend's laptop to mine on the same internet connection.

This is why games that drop a LOT of gold lag for some folks. Your computer is trying to process a lot more individual moving graphic items on the screen. You can minimize that load some using the standard tips. Play a lower quality game, minimize other windows, do not have your computer trying to load other web pages at the same time, close other programs, etc.

Have your glow message typed up already in notepad. If I catch a glow in a strange thread I just type GLOW and post. If I catch the glow in my booty grab thread I have a standard message about how I saw them glowing in Dancing Dolphins Raining Gold, a link to the thread and a thank you for the gold. Having it ready and copied to the clipboard helps me bump quickly. If the glow link goes to a reply box I can usually post the bump message before the 5 second countdown is over.

If you do not have mules to play with you then booty grab with a friend using either an instant messenger (if the lag doesn't kill you) or Gaia PMs. I have done it both ways. Have the IM connection open or have a new blank message ready to send to your friend. Friend does same.

You and friend each play different Booty Grab threads. When one of you finds a glowing tank bump and open the game. When the tank window starts to load copy the URL and paste it into the IM or PM and send it to your friend. Friend does same from his/her thread. Recipient of link does not have to bump the glow thread because the sender already just did.

Sometimes the links to glowing tanks get flying faster than you can play them all. It gets a bit hectic at times but it's kind of fun trying to keep up and you make more gold. smile

Contrary to what some people say tapping a tank does nothing for making it glow sooner so if you are looping through a BG thread repeatedly don't waste time tapping every time. They don't count anyway. I'm not sure of the time reset but I think a tap from the same user only counts again after 24 hours or next calendar day. When I load a booty grab pages I scroll down the page looking for the booty grab symbol on the tank then load the next page. It goes a lot faster that way. Taps are nice when they count but don't do anything for making gold for the tank owner. Finding and playing their glow does. smile

The fishes that seem to lag the most are the monsters and fish that are very active durring the booty grab. The best way to counteract this lag is to minimize the screens behind the booty grab and to use less demanding settings (turning off the music the tank plays, playing in a smaller tank, and playing on the lowest detail setting)
