I personally think a guild-run EVENT would make a statement and get members interested again.
Something that's not just in the guild, of course... in the main forums, in towns, in arenas, even, we could get a group of entries based around scams, SOS signs, and reform.* Something like that.

I picked up a wingding shirt a while ago, so I would be happy to join if there's be an event.
(it's not like I have anything else to do with it, since I don't like the letters and hate the big chest XP )

I think the reason that the ardor on the topic has cooled is simply because we have been ignored. I have participated in tens of protests, signed my share of petitions, and done my best to try to get more people to join this guild.
However, at what point do we simply accept that no change will occur? I have not bought anything that required actual money or done any of the "free offers" in at least a year.
I have never been responded to when I message an admin or moderator (and I do not get excessive). Every other month or so I send a well written, decent length private message to a moderator and I have yet to ever get a response.
I am passionate about the gaia offers being removed from gaia. However, I was also very opposed to many of the changes that have been made to the cash shop as well. I have been ignored thus far, and it is hard to rally those not truly committed to our cause.
Just my two cents...

Erm, just a note. Don't message the mods. They have no say. Theyu don't work for gaia. Make sure you only bother STAFF MEMBERS about it, and make sure you only bother staff members that WORK WITH THE OFFERS.

yes they are ignoring us. they will keep ignoring us. I can not remember gaia ever implementing a unpopular change and then changing it back or admiting that it was a bad idea.

First, we have to get more members, and people who want to change Gaia. When we have maybe 3.5/4 of the Gaia members, in a like, decade, they might listen.... whaddyathink?

I don't think Gaia cares what it's members want, although that may change in the future. Have you noticed? Gaia's online numbers are dropping. They're losing members. Not enough to matter (yet), but if this continues I'm sure they'll start to get worried, and maybe they'll start listening to those who have legitimate complaints and are articulate about them.
Of course, online numbers will soar if and when they launch a great Halloween event, so they probably won't start worrying about losing members until next year sometime, after all the holidays are over.

Well, they'll have to pull out something awesome and hope for the right mix of users.
A too complex event with references to NPCs and backstory will most likely just confuse the really new users, the ones they are aiming at (when I joined I stumbled right in during the last of the zurg event. Didn't understand a smack).
The old users would get bored immediately if the level is too low, not to mention they will look for rip-offs from previous events (or at least me and some friends will, I haven't really done a poll on it or anything)

I have an Idea. How about a spam party? On Halloween at about 10:00 CST, everyone starts going on the event page and posts a bunch of facts about the offers system, and how we are completely against it. Just flood the event page and all the Americans (Since they're our target audience) will wake up to find all these posts on their thread, and most importantly, the mods and staff will see it too.
By the way since we'd all probably get banned from it, change your usernames on your mule account and move your items there.
Anyone tell me if they see a historical scene played out here.

No spam parties. Sorry, but we're not doing anything that can get anyone banned. If we do anything against Gaia's rules, it could easily discredit this guild and the cause.

Wait, since when is the Americans our target? Isn't the offers directed towards users who can't buy cash (which shows how great ideas go bad) - that is, users outsede the USA?

The offers are directed towards everyone, not just non-Americans... I HATE THE WORD AMERICAN. AMERICA IS TWO CONTINENTS. AAARRRRGHHHH...
Anyway, it's aimed at everyone because even if you could buy it, why pay when you could get it for free?
