I will start out by reviewing the very first Final Fantasy game. As most die hard FF fans know, this original Final Fantasy game was remade a few times. Once for Playstation one, another time for Gameboy, and another time for Playstation Portable. With each remade version, the graphics, music, and features were improved.

I can tell you this, the original graphics for the original Final Fantasy game released originally in Japan, was one of the most horrible graphics you could ever see in any game. Most of the backgrounds were nothing but a black shade, and anything that wasn't full of black, had a limited amount of various colours. Back then, the graphics didn't matter to gamers. They didn't have uber and realistic graphics we now see today in games. During the timeline when the first Final Fantasy game was released, what matter most to gamers was the new gameplay style. This is what began the Final Fantasy series, and this is what made it such a popular and phenomenal series up to this very day.

The game developers definitely seemed to want to keep with the updated times of the new and improved graphics. Which is why they must have upgraded the original game to show off its superness and allow the newer generation to play this funpacked but challenging game. Mind you, with the new improved, updated version of this Final Fantasy game. The gameplay and challenges seemed to be made more simplier for the newbies of the series, so that way they wouldn't be turned off from playing the game and getting more into the series.

Like with all Final Fantasy games, the music for the 1st game was beautifully composed and well done. Even during its 8 bit stage, the music still sounded fun and brought your mind into another world. With the many upgrades and remakes for the game, the music composition of course was updated as well, out of its 8 bit stage.

Final Fantasy one has one of the greatest orchestred songs, whether it's the Mayota's cave song, to the more well known prelude and Final Fantasy theme songs. No other video game on this planet will ever beat the magnificently done Final Fantasy songs.

The gameplay and replay content of this game has its various scales of play. The original version of Final Fantasy one was quite limited, but after more recent upgrades to the playstation and gameboy, more features were added on so that players can do side quests and go beyond from the main story to gain extra rewards and equipment.

The battles and boss fights were full of unique monsters during its time of an original creation. This game held a great cast of at least 100 enemies to fight from beginning to end. Whether you were fighting goblins or challenging the final foe, Chaos at the end of the game. Players could view new monsters across many world map fields, dungeons, castles, and several other areas within the game.

The final boss of the game wasn't anything very complicated. It was an enemy that had travelled from the future and sent four fiends also into past to fight your Warrior of Lights. After fighting these four fiends, that's when you go to fight the powerful being known as, Chaos.

Great gameplay, awesome music, splendid character selection and customization, and an amazing storyline. Whether it's the original version or the remakes, each one succeeding one another. All in all this game will hold its awesomeness and supremity as one of the best Final Fantasy games all of time, and it had to be one of the best to continue on with the series itself to become one of the best Video Game series of all times.

10/10

True, the first FF game didn't really give you as much direct detail as to where to head next. It was basically a running around type of thing until you found the right place.

i loved the first one although i only played the psp remake. i think i killed 5 hours per fiend cause i was lost ._. i didnt know i had a map till i got to Tiamat either. Luckily the wandering helped lvl grind alot and i killed every fiend really easily. only boss i didnt defeat was Chronodia. he was the secret boss only in the psp remake. Chronodia was a fusion of all 4 fiends and a couple other enemies. my rating for the game is a 10/10

I liked your review and this game. The game was adorable and well put together.

I agree with your rating, since I view this game as one of those "wow, now this is what I call original".

DemionicAngel - I don't know about most free roaming, the world map certainly didn't seem as large compared to some of the other FFs. I'd have to say FFXI is the largest roaming map, but then again, that's an online game so it has to be mega large. It is a challenging game when played for the NES original. ^^

Grimangel95 - Yes, it is confusing at times where you need to go next. And the time chamber or labyrinth or whatever it's called, I did a run through that place several times and defeated a few different versions of Chronodia, each time he drops a different equipment and has extra HP and such.

TehCookieCrispRox - Thanks for your compliment! Yes, it is an adorable game and is the start of this incredible video game franchise! I certainly hope there is never a final game of final fantasy!
