Congratulations, you found the Story Sharing and Critique subforum! As the name implies, this is the place you go to post premises, excerpts, chapters, poems, and/or short stories. But! Let it be known that our numbers are few, our regulars have lives outside of Gaia, and the time we spend critiquing you is time we could be spending writing our own stories playing Phoenix Wright. Or Jak X. As such, you will respect those who critique you. Maybe when you're rich and famous you can pull an Anne Rice and fire your editor, but when receiving critique as a free service, you should learn to put up with all comments, positive or negative.
On a separate note, I ask that you format your posts intelligently. Originally it was assumed that standard formatting falls within the realms of common sense, but recently this assumption has been proven false. As such, please refrain from posting your excerpts in enormous font, microscopic font, or retina-searing colors such as yellow, cyan, or pink. Also, please double-space your line breaks and leave your story left-aligned. Nothing is more difficult to read than a bright yellow, size 25 (or 7), center-aligned text-wall. Text walls are hard enough to read even without impossible font colors and sizes.
In short, be polite and make your font readable.

I'm sorry, which colors should we not use. I couldn't read them.
Just kidding lol....I'm sorry I have a strange sense of humor. xd

I have a question! Pick me! (oh dear, I get childish at 3 am!) what if we're writing a script for a comic book? The format for those is mostly left aligned, but the page and panel numbers are centered. It's pretty easy to read though. I'll be posting the script like that, unless you tell me I should do it some other way, than I'll change it! Thanks!

What about stories that violate Gaia's TOS? I'm not sure if they have a thing about violence, but I know they're pretty strict about keeping everything PG13 on sex and whatnot.

Noninimicus What about stories that violate Gaia's TOS? I'm not sure if they have a thing about violence, but I know they're pretty strict about keeping everything PG13 on sex and whatnot. That would automatically be a no-no: guilds also have to follow the TOS. I think it's fairly easy to keep sex within PG13 realms so long as you're not posting porn, though. Violence is pretty lenient, too, unless it's really grotesque somehow. (And honestly I wouldn't know how to critique porn so I wouldn't recommend posting that regardless of the TOS.)

And therein lies my problem. Grotesqueries are rather my specialty. So I guess I'll just have to write some new things specifically to post in this guild, lol.

Unless you're writing, like, guro, you should be okay. I can think of a lot of fairly gory PG-13 movies I've seen. Even in the GI Joe movie, which was more or less aimed at kids, one of the Neo Vipers dissolves rather grossly into nanomite goo, and that's after Breaker stabs his skull with sticks. And the original Destro (rather impossibly, I might add) is forced to wear a scalding hot mask that burns his face off.
I often find that people who think they write really sick stuff are either forcing it, or it's not as bad as they think. sweatdrop

I'm not entirely (or at all) sure what the term 'guro' encompasses.
