
Though the weather was turning cooler, there was still a sticky sort of heat at the height of the day. It was for that reason that 'rush chose to wait it out and only started moving now, when the shadows had gotten long.
He wandered out toward the edges of familiar territory, out where stories said that dark things sometimes lurked. Where mysteries bloomed. He wasn't daring fate--he wasn't that much of a fool--but he didn't like being caught off guard almost as much as he liked knowing things the others were still unsure about.
He nosed through some of the longer reeds, inhaling new scents. One in particular made him lift his head and twist his neck, ears shifting toward the new arrival. Or...had she been there from the beginning.
He took a step toward Last Whisper and called out, "Who are you?"

A voice startled her and she bumped her head before she managed to retract it from underneath the root she had been digging under. She turned to look at the speaker, her face covered in smudges of mud much liked her feet and hooves. It was the stranger that had walked past her, mere minutes before. Had he just noticed her for the first time now? She hadn't been hiding, had she? She glanced back at where she had stuck her front end moments ago and decided she hadn't been.
