Hey there,
after thinking about a few things on the general "Zombie Survival" I would like to tell all of you something.
IF you think that you are prepared for Z Day you are wrong.
First of all:
I hear many of you going nuts with kantanas, wearing a Deagle with them etc etc. First of all, I bet that IF the zombie outbreak will accure and you will be at work or school, you will NOT make it home to get your weapons.
You will get torn to pieces on your way there. Dont bother going home to find your minigun or flamethrower or whatever weapons you say to have.
Second:
People think they know much about zombies. After a long freetime research, I came to the conclusion, that if zombies will come, Rage or Undead, YOU WILL BE DEAD!.
The Undead( no more room in hell etc.) will NOT die. If you think you can blow their heads away, think again. How do you want to kill something dead already? Even IF you can kill them by destroying the head, you will not likely have enaugh ammo to kill a few million undead. And if you want to survive until they will die from hunger, I dont think Undead need to eat.
Rage Zombies( 28 days later), will hunt you down. The chance you will survive a Rage zombie outbreak it 10 %. Before you notice, some random hobo will run at you, you pull out 5 $ so he lets you alone, BUT WHAT IS THIS? HE IS CHEWING ON YOUR BRAIN!.
They WILL die from hunger, but considering that they WILL run, since its a virus or parasite etc, you wont run long enaugh to get them off your tail.
Maybe they can think( Big daddy from Land of the dead), then you could better already pull a bullet to the brain. If they use weapons, what means that you are fighting a OverHuman, there is no chance you will get rid of them.
Third:
Escape. Oh yes, the good old get the hell out of town.
I want to see you people stealing a car, then escapeing out of a town full of destroyed barricades and cars. Lets not forget the zombies.
The streets will be full. 99 % of the people will have the same idea as you will, escaping.
And the last point:
Our military and police, the friendly helpers during every situation.
Forget getting helped or evaced by the military. They will likely quarantine you then nuke the whole town before they go inside that hell hole.
Military and Police will have NO IDEA what they will be dealing with. They will say : "PUT YOUR HAND BEHIND YOUR BACK!". After that 5 Zombies will sprint to them, and before they fire, their hands are already torn apart.
Military and Police WILL FAIL! 100% I am sure they will.
The police will try to hold out streets and highways, but that wont help cause they will be overrun.
Conclusion: What should I do then during a outbreak, Mr. Dumbnerd?
Answer: Do what is needed to to, try to survive, just don't forget: What you see in movies dosnt mean reality.
MAYBE the outbreak will be like in movies, maybe it will be a 100% Death for humanity( apocalypse). Who knows.... only god.

It is pretty easy to spot those who haven't thought it through very well when they claim what weapons they'll be using. I mean, seriously, if you can't even list the model of gun you'd like to use then there's no chance that you already have one and you won't make it to the gun shop in time to loot it. Good weapons need forethought and training before they're effective in battle, and some types of weapons are best used when you've got a partner to compliment your attack style. I still think an axe or hatchet/hammer combo (hammer to quickly knock the hatchet loose WHEN it gets stuck in a Zs neck/head) with a reserve sidearm would be best for most, though it would require a high level of strenuous physical activity. And honestly having a buddy next to you with a staff or crowbar to just knock them away as you kill them would be great. One to focus on (re)killing or otherwise the Zs or otherwise rendering them a non-threat and one to focus on keep the rest at bay while the first works.

I agree.
To be honest, if its the fast rage ones, dear sweet nibblets, I've screwed. If its the slow ones...Eh, I think I can work it out. I'm waiting to be 21 so I can legally own a gun (Damn age restriction laws..), my sisters husband is a cop so he will be able to help me learn. He owns a glock 17 (also a rifle and more types of handguns), so I'm thinking that'll probably be my first gun that i shoot. Though I'm hoping with time I learn how to defend myself and learn more about guns. One thing for sure, if it happens when I'm with my sister, I'll be pretty ok. She also knows how to shoot guns. -.- Hell, her going on nine year old daughter knows about them and I think they've let her shoot it a few times.

Yeah, this is why I choose conventional weapons that I know I own. Unfortunately, I can't go all samurai on a hoard of zombies, because my father's katanas have dull blades.
Why is that?
Because they're for display purposes only.
So I'll use what my school has to offer (since known my poor a**, I'd be stuck in class when it suddenly took over Downtown, it also doesn't help the school I'm transferring to is near one of the many hospitals here) which will probably be a crobar from the Auto class, or even a couple of baseball bats from the gym.

COnsidering that most of everyone here will be stuck in school for the majority of the day during the week, it's safe to say plans are pretty much ruined. Luckily, being in High School, and a Senior to boot, I get to drive to school, and I have first dibs on thr close spots. NOw, I don't drive since Idon't have a car, so that's pretty much moot, but it's still a point.
Pretty much all of my friends drive, though, so I have a ready ride straight home if needed.
All of my technical calsses are technology-based, so I'm ******** there. But that's what a good friendship between other students and the teachers is for! Knowing my tech teacher, he'd put everyone he could fit in his truck and GTFO! He's already told us that if we have an actual intruder in the building, rather than the bullshit drills they give to get the ******** outside, filter through the cars, and hit the woods as fast as possible.

Stuck in a school? well there's ropes, knives, and sports equipment in there, not to mention janitor tools. get to these first, and you've got a fighting chance.
The likeliness you'll survive is only about 3% and thats if you're good.

It's extremely expensive for anything that's not utter s**t. Even the $10k ones can be snapped over a knee. It's a SLICING weapon. It's useless for anything but slicing. It does not cut. It does not crush. It does not slash. It's shape makes it horrible for stabbing. The arcs used in the styles cause an impact that might create a minor wound, and then drags the blade all the way across, which is what causes the actual deep gash. THe ultra-hard edge can be chipped without really trying, and once it's chipped it cannot be repaired. It's traditionally made out of HORRIBLE steel. They use iron SAND! That's scraping the bottom of the barrel already. They fold it to make up for the inherent impurities and faults in the steel, and they stole THAT idea from other countries. For countries with good steel, it does nothing to help the steel, and is only a method of chest-thumping for their blacksmiths. And let's not forget the overly-complicated methods of care, and overly-complicated techniques. The Zweihander is too large to be of use to the average person who has not been trained from early childhood. The techniques that employ it are simple and effective, and the Zweihander itself can kill a target wearing full plate. It can crush and hack, and it can still stab if needed. But it's simply too large. A SHORT SWORD, on the other hand, combines the few pros of both. They are generally about the length of the Katana, if not a bit shorter, and weigh about as much. Their design is great for hacking, slashing, stabbing, and crushing, while still being maneuverable. It is designed to be used with one hand, leaving the other hand free for other things. A Kukri is also another option. It's a Nepalese replacement for the Axe. It's a bent machete, that's about 6 times thicker than a normal machete, that is weighted specifically for war and splitting. The thickness prevents it from becoming lodged in bone, and the weight makes it easier to use one-handed. The shape is simply interesting, but is what causes the balance. As for crushing the spine, crushing the head is just as effective, actually ensures a kill, and going for the spine lets them get even closer than going for the head does in melee. It's simply tactics that melee is stupid and will get you killed, because you have inherent weaknesses, such as feeling pain.
