It was a very lazy day for Akane. She had nothing to do at all. She wondered if there was something to do. She gazed up at the cloud-covered sky. Today didn't really seem like a very good day to do anything. Neither did yesterday. She yawned slightly and laid back on the grassy hill-side that she was sitting on. If today wasn't a good day to do anything then when was a good day? Perhaps not tomorrow but maybe the day after tomorrow? She wished that there was some sort of school that she could go to so that she wasn't so bored and tired all the time.
Sighing loudly, she closed her eyes. Maybe a five minute cat nap might be good for her. After that she would go out and find something for her to do. It wasn't very good for her health to be this inactive for a very long time. Maybe she could run along the river that ran through the area? That wouldn't be a very bad idea. Sighing, she opened her eyes after a few moments and stared up at the sky. If only someone could come by and give her some encouragement to get active.

Katsuo was wandering about the area as usual, avoiding everyone and everything that had become mundane; his brother, their family, their home, and all the things that came with that.
It was peaceful down by the river he was walking along, and peaceful was a thing Katsuo wasn't comfortable with, so he decided to walk up the hill next to it to find some activity inside the town itself. Along the path he'd picked, he saw a girl lounging on the grass. He was fairly certain it was a girl, this time, though she did happen to have some masculine features. No, he was pretty sure she was a girl this time. He walked closer and saw her eyes were closed. Was she asleep? No, she opened her eyes, but continued to look partially asleep.
Katsuo decided he'd introduce himself. He stepped into her range of view and waved. "Hey there. Whatcha doin?"

Akane nearly jumped when someone approached her out of nowhere. She hadn't expected anyone to be around here. She bolted upright, opening her eyes all the way. Where had that man come from? She looked around, as if expecting more people to be around but she didn't see anyone else. She sighed softly. At least it was only one person who had scared her out of her daydream that she was having.
She turned her attention to the newcomer and gave him a confused look. "Just staring up at the sky," she said to him, responding to his question a few minutes after he had asked her it. She relaxed her tense body slightly and pulled her legs up towards her chest, hugging them slightly with both arms. "What are you doing around here? I thought I was the only one who came around this area."

Katsuo chuckled softly at her reaction. He hadn't meant to startle her that bad. "I was just walkin' around and ended up here." He looked around to see if he could see what she was looking for. "You want some company?"

Akane flushed slightly when she heard the man chuckle at her reaction to him suddenly being beside her. She turned her gaze down at the ground and plucked out a few blades of grass while he answered her question. She didn't really expect him to answer her.
She shrugged slightly at his question. "Sure, I guess."

Katsuo flopped down heavily next to her. He'd been walking for longer than he thought he was and brought up his sandaled feet and moved his ankle around. "So," he wanted to spark a conversation to avoid silence. Oh how he hated silence. "You seen the flier for the moon viewing tomorrow night?"

Akane nearly jumped when Katsuo flopped down next to her. She pulled her legs up against her chest and wrapped her arms around them. She suddenly felt nervous about being this close to a boy. The only boys she had been around were her brothers.
She nodded her head slightly when he asked if she had seen the flyer for the moon-view festival. "Yeah, I did. I had planned on staying...staying home for that." Her voice was slightly soft, though it was high enough for Katsuo to hear her. "I don't really know anyone around here so it would be...awkward for me to go to something alone."

Katsuo grinned. She was a shy one. He'd always had a thing for shy girls in life. Maybe because they were a challenge? At least that was his outward reason. He really just thought they were cute.
"Why don't you come with me then?" he asked. "I know some people, and I could introduce you." It might be a little early to be asking a girl on a date, having just met her moments ago. But that was Katsuo.

Akane blinked a few times and looked up at Katsuo curiously. Was this guy for real? Was he really inviting her to the Moon-View Festival? She shifted slightly where she sat. She had never gone to the Festival without her family so she didn't really know what to do. Though she was older than she was in the living world. Maybe this was a good time to stop mourning her own death and moving on with her afterlife.
She slowly nodded her head and smiled warmly at Katsuo. "Alright," she said slowly. "I'll go with you."

"Awesome." Katsuo was indeed 'for real', though he wasn't exactly looking for some sort of long term relationship or anything, just some fun company for an otherwise boring event.
Festivals were usually pretty boring if you didn't go with somebody and Hina-nii wasn't interested for some reason. Still, going with a lovely girl would be a lot more fun anyway.

Akane's smile widened a little as Katsuo said 'awesome'. She had never heard that term before but she assumed that it was something positive. "So...what do you want to do now?" She didn't really know what to do. She was planning on wasting the rest of the day but now that she had met Katsuo...maybe this would be a good time to make some friends.
