Has anyone read any of Anne's stuff? She is most famous for her Dragonriders of Pern series. =)
I started reading her in 4th grade when I got my hands on a 3 in one copy of the first three DRoP books. I've been captivated by her stories ever since. :3
I'm trying to read/find her older works right now. I read The Ship Who Sang a little while ago and I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I'm trying to find the second book in that series, Partnership. I also just read Crystal Singer and Killshandre... Um, they were ok. Not my favorite of her books but definately interesting reads. I LOVE The Tower and the Hive series! I'm trying to get my hands on the final book. I'd also like to read the Pegasus books that came before. Until I can get the other books I'm looking for, I am rereading the Acorna books. That series is one of my all time favorites. blaugh

I haven't read much of hers, but I loved Dragonsdawn, which is sort of a prequel to the Pern series, and is more science fiction than anything else.
I also read her short story "The Ship Who Sang," but not the novel.

Dragonsdawn is my favorite from Dragonriders of Pern. I picked up a nice first edition hardback last time I was at a used bookstore. <3 It was my first experience of Science fiction since the previous books were more fantasy based. It was kind of like putting a toe in the pool before taking the plunge. x3 I will say, the ending of that one made me cry. crying
Well, the novel is a collection of short stories which includes the original short story The Ship Who Sang. It took a sudden turn on me at the beginning. Definately wasn't what I was expecting. =)

Ive read The Coelura, a few DRoP books, and all but the last book in the series that was started with The Rowan. I'm in love with her Science Fiction. Not to say that her Fantasy isn't fantastic, but I really feel she shines in the Science Fiction genre.
The Rowan, Damia, Damia's Children, Lyon's Pride, and The Tower and the Hive are the books in the series I'm talking about, and that's the chronological order of the story. Its really a truly amazing series of books, and I hope more fans of Anne will give her winderful Science Fiction as much of a chance as her Fantasy.

I have a copy of The Rowan floating around I've never gotten around to reading. Maybe it's about time.

I just recently finished reading her Talent saga. They were a good read. Well worth the wait of tracking down that booger of a first volume. xd

I discovered the other day that we actually have a copy of the first DRoP book. For some reason it was in my brother's room, and he's 10, so I don't know why he has it. I may just be stealing it off him when I can get the rest of my books read.

I love her DRoP books and have read them all. I haven't read any of her other books, but that's because her work is fairly difficult to find. (At least in my area) I had to take to the internet in order to buy the books of the DRoP series because I enjoyed them so much.

-sigh- It is. That's why I constantly scour the used book stores. Amazon.com is pretty good too. I ordered 3 books from there a few weeks ago. 1 was in large print, but after having such a hard time finding it I didn't complain too much.

Ironically... I have not. My mother bought me the first three series in the Pern series, I think. When I returned home this past summer, I tried to send them back to my apartment... and my box of books was lost.
So many manga, and my yearbook, all lost. It saddened me. : (
So! If ever I manage to grab them randomly, I will certainly read them, as I have been meaning to for a while.

Honestly I don't like her works. One of the very few authors actually I dislike, just her writing style doesn't compel to me.

Yes, I love the Dragonriders the best out of her stuff. I have only finished one and a half of Acorna, but I do think it is interesting. My favorite Dragonriders book is "Masterharper of Pern" since Robinton is one of my favorite characters. I also really like the mini trilogy about Menolly (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, and Dragondrums) "All the Weyrs of Pern" was really great too, because it elaborated more on the sci-fi part of it. I've read the first one "Dragonflight" about three times. Mostly because I wanted to start reading them all over again, but then I get caught up in something else. I am a multiple book reader. sweatdrop
