I met this guy in school and I think he may be gay. Generally my gaydar is pretty lackin but 4 him i got a big signa, problem is I dont kno how to ask someone. I've only had one bf and he just took a chance and kissed me. Cant do that, my social status just reached an acceptable level and if he is straight then he'd go tell all of his friends.I know if I just ask him he'd deny cuz he thinks im straight and would never admit it if he is gay. What do i do gonk

Why is it necessary that you know his sexuality?

Taeryyn Why is it necessary that you know his sexuality? Because he's interested in hitting on this fellow, it would seem.

Well does he spend an inordinate amount of time in the boys' locker room?
Seriously though - the only way to know for sure is to ask. Do it casually - if you seem him a lot, just say something like, "Hey, just wondering, but I heard a rumor that you were gay. Is it true?"
Check out his reaction and then go from there.

Let's see:
"Accidentally" drop some gay porno or a gay magazine from your bag and gauge his reaction.
See what he thinks of gay rights.
Ask him if he'd rather ******** or . I did that all through high school and it gave me a pretty good idea.
None of these are helpful at all, yet I can't bring myself to delete them.

Personally I'd just ask him right out if he's gay or not and if he asks why I'd tell him that I wanted to see if he wanted to go out. And if he overreacted and got violent I'd just beat the s**t out of him(Of course I'd try and calm him down first or something violence is a last resort). But thats just me.

Relax. If you get to know him better, he'll get to be comfortable with you. And if he feels it safe to say, he will. Plus, if you decide to ask casual until he makes that move, then you can be certain that not only does he like guys, but he may very well fancy you.
Just don't rush it, I've made that mistake, and it ruins friendships more than it helps make them.

Plus, if you decide to ask casual until he makes that move, then you can be certain that not only does he like guys, but he may very well fancy you. Just don't rush it, I've made that mistake, and it ruins friendships more than it helps make them. I think that's the best advice I've seen here. On the other hand, however, that could be extremely painful if he turns out to be homophobic. It can be so much easier to be friends if you both know. You have nothing more to hide, and they know you've given them your trust. It's definitely not for everyone, but I always feel so much better that I'm not keeping a huge secret from them, and I know that these people accept me for who and what I am. My strategy would be to ask about his opinions on gay rights. You can usually tell from a person's reactions whether they're homophobic or not. And from there, if he's okay with it, you can ask (sensitively, please) whether he's gay himself. That's the best I can think of...

Interesting responses, I honestly didnt expect that big a variety of answers to this common problem. I'll try I couple of 'em but some are flat out not smart especially that gay porno idea. I'm not sure where you live but In the USA you gotta be 18+ to hhave that plus its not permitted in skool.

...A simple solution to all of those problems would be to just come out of the closet.
