Just finished a playthrough of Earthbound today, and amongst my endgame wandering I ran into a guy in Summers who said this line:
"I wonder what porky Pokey's doing."
Given the mix-up of the spelling of his name between Earthbound and Mother 3... what's up with this? Kinda weird!

I think I remember that, but I figured it was just some kind of insult/description.
Basically saying he's fat.
Or maybe it was an actual error in the script. o-o

My major beef is that "Pokey" was labelled a mistranslation and was officially retconned in Brawl, but if it was actually an unintentional mistranslation, then what was up with the actual word appearing right next to his mistranslated name? Maybe the translators were just in the dark (or it didn't occur to 'em), but it's fun to think about... I mean using that word to make some kind of pun is just too strange if the name "pokey" actually is a mistranslation! xd
Maybe I'll have to wait until Tomato gets further in his M2 vs. EB project to see xp

Whoa, I never noticed that... maybe the guy is a visionary? Or a time traveler who knew of Pokey's name change to Porky?
Hm, I want to find this guy. But I'd have to play the game all over again...

My guess is that they couldn't call him Porky in America because of the presence of the cartoon character "Porky Pig."
