Oh yes, I forgot to mention this. They expect to release their own version of towns soon (the screenshots look breathtaking) and their own MMO at some point, at least, that is what MysticD (yup yup, that's right!) said. ^___^ He suggests we all take Mandarin classes this semester. wink Here is the actual quote. I'd like to try some of those outfits on, but I don't really feel like making an account. I don't know any Chinese, so I know I wouldn't stick around. I hate it when people come on English sites when they don't speak a lick and act like they own it, so I'm not going to do it to other people. Looks like they have enough anglophones making asses of themselves, as-is.
Edit: I lied. I made an account to try on the clothes. But I'm still not going to post. It's crazy that half the topics are in English. Do they have an international dumping grounds like Gaia does?

We didn't really discuss Gonline. Kinda, but not really. Haha. I saw some of the clothes and screenshots that a lot of people like, but I feel like we have enough items as it is. We don't need any more. [/speaking for herself] @___@ haha
Yeah there are a lot of stupid GDers in there but it looks like such a nice group of people, like Gaia when it use to be a small community. crying If there are MCs there you better get the first one (LOL). Years later that'll be a lot.

It does remind me more of Gaia than Gaia, but there's still the issue of the language barrier. I'm not going to try to teach myself Mandarin just to get addicted to another avatar site.
And I don't see why we couldn't get some of their items in our stores. I love the concepts, but the pixel quality isn't as high as we're used to, now. It's more akin to early Gaia stuff. So it would make sense to put them as fairly cheap gold shop items. I really like a lot of their shoes and stockings. The pointy high heels with the little bows on the back? Do want.

Considering I stopped bothering with Gaia safe for changing my avatar (and cursing about my lack of gold ...320k is like superpoor these days) I don't think I want to start on *another* Gaia.
But the logic behind it does interest me. This Chinese Gaia is being developed by the same company as normal Gaia, so the profits of both sides flow in the pockets of the same folks. When Chinese Gaia says "we're going to make better versions of Towns and zOMG", doesn't that mean that normal Gaia should *also* get these better versions? Obviously there will be some lag between them as the translators do their thing and the coders try to hammer out the compatibility problems with features Chinese Gaia does not (yet) have.
The concept of launching a second Gaia is genius, though: normal Gaia has been managed horribly and every new feature has just been added to the site with no regard to the overall concept of Gaia. Chinese Gaia gives them the opportunity to make a whole site that is internally consistent and will - as a result - be less riddled with bugs and glitches.

Actually, Aldo, it's not owned by the same company. From what I understand, our Gaia sold Chinese Gaia the rights to use its coding and pixels. I think there is also an agreement that we can use theirs, but you know it will be years of begging before they even put the clothes in stores. (It really can't be that hard to add new clothes. It just can't.)
I lost the post that explained it really well. All my search is coming up with is item petitions, now that the total n00bs have gotten wind of it.

i kind of want to go and try out the stuff, but i haven't gotten around to it yet.
as for MCs, i don't know if i'd pay for one, even if it would be worth tons down the road, if it's the same story as here - that you pay real money for it. i'm not sure i'm quite ready to pay my real money to a chinese website that i can't even read, and that has to adhere to really restrictive laws about what can and can't be discussed.

I liked the Clover dresses, too, Xan. There's also some really pretty windblown dresses that remind me of spring. But mostly I think they have a lot of very cute exclusive shoes.
And I somehow doubt we'll be sharing NPC's. Oh... but what if GOnline is actually Mirror Gaia? Dun dun dun!
