Revres Under Fire The continent of Revres is said to be the greatest in the world. Technological, magical, and practical evolution from its people has brought this area of the world to the forefront of power, beyond any other continent in Gaia. Its people, spread out amongst four countries, lead simple, peaceful lives, mostly, but petty border disputes and an average crime rate make it fall just short of Utopian. Despite changes throughout the world, even in 2009, the continent and all its countries are still highly traditional. Citizens of Revres have no contact with those of other areas of the world, and they tend to prefer a policy of isolationism, as they have done well to avoid the wars of the past. Beyon
The northwestern country of Beyon, the largest of the four by landmass, is the source of knowledge on Revres. The University there, when built over five hundred years ago, served as an informational hub for all who wanted to study. These days, Beyon still serves this purpose, as nearly every researcher and scholar keeps feeding their findings and information to Beyon's database via computer link. Most of the world's knowledge can be found there, so there has been a significant "brain drain" over the years, as many highly intelligent individuals have moved to Beyon to study and grow. Beyon is ruled by Queen Almia, known as the Scholar Queen. Her knowledge and experience is revered by all. Niead
Niead, making up the southern portion of the continent, is the strong arm of the country. The second largest country on the continent, its people work hard and fight for a living. Its government is allied with all four countries on the continent, and its military stands always ready to handle threats from outside Revres. There has not been a conflict for over 1,000 years, when King Greil of Niead led his army into battle and struck down invaders from other countries beyond the sea. Unlike other countries, Niead's monarchy is not decided by lineage, but rather by strength. The top generals in Niead's army will, at the end of each king's reign, participate in a fighting challenge. He or she who remains standing at the end is crowned the ruler of Niead. Niead is currently ruled by King Ryan, who married another of the generals at the time of the last king's passing, Queen Kara. Kara lost by the slightest of margins to Ryan during the fight for the throne, but he soon wed her, and she rules by his side. Aeginvok Aeginvok holds the distinction of being the most magically inclined country. Scholars say that Aeginvok's very soil "holds such magical power, no man could ever hope to master it all." Its rivers, lakes, streams, fields, and cities all reflect the amazing abilities it grants its citizens. Of particular interest is the Twilight Fields, a place where the magic takes the most physical form; each day, the entire field, sky included, is a different color, ranging from red to violet. It is Aeginvok's most sacred location, where it is said that the magical forces are the strongest. Aeginvok's elected leader is President Kieran, a master mage with an understanding of magic rarely seen. Nordesvok Nordesvok is known as the country of peace. It has had no border skirmishes, its country surrounded by a vast mountain range. Nordesvok is most notable, however, for its policies involving nature. Cities work with nature, and can not destroy them. The entire country is dedicated to preserving and becoming one with that which was there before them. Trees, grass, animals, anything not man-made is held on a very high pedestal. Some say that the more in tune with nature a Nordesvokian is, the greater control they wield over it. But it's nothing but an unsubstantiated rumor at this point. Nordesvok is ruled by a triumvirate of leaders. Volke, the priest of the land and water; Caryn, the protector of the birds and beasts; and Kai, the ruler of sky and air. This country, more than any other, maintains secrecy. They rarely make outside contact, and stricty forbid anyone to enter their country without express permission from the triumvirate that leads it.

Rules I make the rules. Avoid any form of godmoding, from power playing to quakering. You must RP at a minimum of Bravo-rank to participate. You don't HAVE to be currently ranked as such, but you better RP at that level if you want to be in this one. If you want to join, start looking at your writing style really hard for places to improve. Make sure you have a profile posted in the profile thread before you start. Don't crash the RP. Act realistically, and don't make a scene where it doesn't fit. Spell Check! Most browsers these days have it! Don't ignore the red lines under your words, people! Keep OOC to a minimum. The last thing we need in here is a bunch of side-talk. Read the background and plot information carefully. Don't go doing or saying things that contradict the established plot line. You can not be from Canada. Canada does not exist in this world. Neither do any of the other countries in real life. Rank and file. If you don't rank high in this guild, you don't rank high in the RP. That means you're taking orders. But there's plenty of action to go around. Tell us what your character thinks and feels. A bunch of quotes do not an RP make. Your character has emotions, guesses, feelings, thoughts, intuition, and fears. Incorporate your characters internal reactions into your RPing. That's what separates a Charlie from a Bravo RPer. However, to counterbalance this, I'm not expecting a massive post each time. Especially in combat, long posts can be difficult, because it is a turn-based system we work with. There's only so much you can do and think in a span of time measured in milliseconds. Obey the laws of physics. Within reason, at least You may be a magic user, but don't do anything horribly outlandish if you don't have the means or the reason. Stick to your own plotline. Just because you didn't go on one of the missions doesn't mean there's nothing for you to do. Hang out at base and chat it up for a while, and you'll probably get called out to do something. If you don't post, I won't see your name, and you won't be called on to do the next mission, get it? Refer to yourself in the third person. We can see your username, but this doesn't tell us what your character's name is. Plus, it's a uniformity issue. Everyone needs to RP in the third person. This is a serious RP, so remain serious. A joke here and there is fine, but don't do anything overtly ridiculous for the purpose of humor. Scratch that--don't do anything overtly ridiculous period. I reserve the right to add and/or change rules when necessary.

Chapter 1: Beyon Burns The Gaian Mercenary League is a force to be reckoned with. Stationed in the foothills of southern Beyon, the League is called upon both by the citizenry and the government to handle whatever problems they face. Sometimes they are paid handsomely, but other times, they work pro bono, striving for the good of the country, as well as the trust of their fellow countrymen. Due to Beyon's lack of a strong military, the strongest and most skilled fighters in Beyon, able to rival that of the Niead military, join the Mercenary League. The League was founded by a woman named Adaire several years prior, but leadership had since been passed on to a cyberpath called Gear. The League continues to fight both for profit and for the good of the country, though the latter inspires some criticism from some of the more self-interested members. The story thus far: The League receives a request to protect the Queen of Beyon. A small team of Mercenaries travels to the Imperial City to speak with the Queen. The Queen reveals a massive conspiracy to eliminate the rulers of all four countries on Revres. In Niead, Xeg, Wielder, and Gear are ambushed by an army of demonic spawn. They begin to assist the Niead Army in their eradication. In the Imperial City, the League's protection team, lead by Kaneharo, were attacked by a barrage of mythical creatures. After securing the Queen, the group attempts to escape with their lives...

To Gear of the Mercenary League:
This letter is a formal request for your services. As an agent of the Imperial Guard, I expect you maintain confidentiality in this matter; we don't want widespread paranoia. However, we have been approved to pay your fee for your services with the best agents you have to offer.
Her Majesty Queen Almia has been threatened. She has received several threatening letters, and we are unaware of where they have come from. They seem to indicate that they will assassinate her. We obviously can't let this happen.
Her Majesty is due for a public address on the 14th of Coldfall. This would be the prime moment for someone to strike her down in front of all the people of Beyon. We ask that you address this matter as promptly as possible.
Thank you for your confidence,
Robert J. Drake Captain of the Imperial Guard Scholarly Country of Greater Beyon

Gear stood from his desk once he'd read over the letter. It sounded pretty desperate, considering how infrequently the government enlisted their services these days. Then again, to assassinate the Queen...well, not even the Holy Guard could let their pride get in the way of her safety. All of Beyon would fall to shambles if this were to happen. He would need a crack team of Mercs to take on the job. Reaching for a button on his desk, Gear cleared his throat, and his voice was soon broadcast over the entire base.
"Attention Mercenaries. Those of you not gainfully employed at this time meet me in the war room. We have an alpha-level mission to fill, and I'll be looking for a group to accompany me on this endeavor. You have five minutes. Gear out." Flipping off the intercom, he pocketed the letter and walked out of his office door. The weather was beautiful that day, so he indulged himself; he took off from outside the TOC, and flew slowly to the other side of the base. Normally he could get there in less than a minute, but he gave his men five to get to the war room, so why not take his time? It'd be his last chance to get any relaxing flight time in for a while, more than likely.
He wasn't sure what it was...but something about this mission didn't sit right with him. He certainly wasn't a precog by any stretch, but still...something in the back of his mind told him that there was going to be a lot more to deal with on this mission than he'd bargained for. Or was getting paid for. Maybe things were just too quiet lately? As Gear flew, he began to organize a list of power types he would want to have in this team. He'd need a few more techies, but a few mages would go a long way. A couple snipers, perhaps? Maybe a ninja or two. He chuckled at the idea of having ninjas doing protection racket missions, but hey, it was a possibility in this League.

Rade, who was busily reading his way through a medical journal, heard the call over the intercom, but it took him a minute to process it. Then he stood and, with an unhurried swagger, he began his walk to the war room. Wonder what's happening this time. he thought I haven't been employed for a while.... He fiddled nervously with his cane at the thought of a mission. His steady gate allowed him to arrive at the War Room seconds before Gear arrived and with the spare time he leaned against a nearby wall. He immediately opened his briefcase and injected a few milliliters of a strange transparent liquid into his bloodstream, changing the blood from a dark blue color to its normal red.

K' was enjoying his time-off. He rarely had a chance to relax and just enjoy life. Such is the life or a mercenary, he often reminded himself. However, every now and then, he would have at least one day off where he could just slack off for as long as he wanted. Yes, K' could be considered a lazy guy, but when it comes to his job and duties, he's quite the opposite.
"Ah, yes. This is the good life." K' said to himself. Right now, he was lying under a tree, both of his arms behind his head acting like an improvised (And not comfortable at all) pillow. He was simply staring at the sky, looking at the cloud's movements, the birds, even the small dust particles. He could do this all day if he wanted to.
However, his empty thoughts were interrupted by the familiar sound of a voice. It was the intercom, of course, and it meant that it was time to work.
"Well, so much for that." K' sat down and patted his clothes. An alpha mission, he though. This was big-- no, scratch that. This was huge! So that could only mean that the payment would be just as huge. K' smirked at this thought as he stood up and stretched out.
Hands on his pockets, he started walking towards the War room at a steady pace. He noticed a couple of people were literally running in the same direction. Of course, everybody wants a piece of the pie, he though. After a couple of minutes, K' arrived at the War room. He knocked on the door once but since he noticed that there were already a couple of people inside, he decided he might as well just go inside too. Without saying a word, he walked to the back of the room near a window and waited for instructions.

Gear was flying towards the War Room when he cyberpathically called up the phone in his helmet. He dialed up his contact in the Beyon Imperial Guard. It rang for a few seconds before he got an answer.
This is Rick Stone. Go ahead. "Ricky!" Gear said as he flew, knowing it would annoy the tar out of the Holy Guard. "Why so serious?" Sergeant Major, did you call me solely to quote movie lines, or does this call have some merit? Gear smiled. "A little of both. How have you been, man? How are the wife and kids?" There was a slight growl on the other end of the phone. That wasn't funny the first time, it's not funny now. Gear laughed. "Oh, come on. Don't tell me you don't plan to settle down with a nice girl, a house with a white picket fence, 3 and-a-half children..." Sergeant Major Gear! he yelled over the phone, becoming annoyed. Then a sigh...and a few moments to calm himself. Sir, if you do not state the purpose of this call, I will have to discontinue it. "Okay, okay. I just wanted to let you know that the League will be sending several men tomorrow morning for the address. Relay that to your boyfrie--I mean, Captain, isn't he?" You promised you wouldn't-- "Don't worry, this is a secure line!" he laughed. "Come on. If someone tried to hack this, I'd know it right away, wouldn't I? Lighten up a little. Anyway, yes, I'm confirming that we're accepting mission 85475031." You couldn't come up with a better name? "What? Like Operation: Dr. Tran? What is your obsession with Dr. Tran? I meant something like, Operation: Protect...the...queen. "Oh yeah, Ricky. That's an AWESOME name. I'll get right on that. Gear out." He disconnected as he began to approach the dome. He was enjoying himself at least. He needed to be in a good mood for this mission, and he hoped the mercs he took would be the same.

"Hello K', haven't seen you in a while, been watching the clouds again?" said Rade with a smile, and flicked his cane upward so it pointed at K'. "You know if you don't train, your skills will rust. Speaking of rust, where's mister mechanic himself, I expected him to be here already." he lowered his cane back to the floor, and began tapping his fingers on the top in impatience. Gear, where are you? I need physical work to get my blood flowing, I'm almost out of the elixer.

"Impatient as always, I see," Gear said as he entered the room. "Guess we're busier than I thought with only two free Mercenaries. I'd rather we had more for this particular mission, but...well, we'll have to make do." He cleared his throat before speaking, and switched on the shield of silence barrier to prevent outside ears from listening. A quick electronic sweep of the room destroyed any bugs that might be hiding within the confines of the barrier. "We have a message from the Beyon Holy Guard. The queen received an assassination threat. As you may or may not know, she has an address she makes to the people every year on the 14th of Coldfall. As you further may or may not know, today is the 13th of Coldfall. We didn't exactly get much warning.
"At any rate, I'm going to need your full cooperation on this one. This is an alpha-level alarm, the second-highest level mission we can acquire. I shouldn't have to tell you this, but if the Queen is assassinated, or if someone even attempts to do so in public, it will cause rioting in the streets. The Niead National Army has been notified of the situation, but they won't be able to make it here until after the address tomorrow. I'll need you to come with me and give the site the most thorough sweep you can, keeping an eye out for would-be assassins. Are you prepared for this mission?"

"Things are definetly busy around here recently. Gear, I am ready to depart whenever you are. I have been craving a bit of fighting recently, to tell you the truth I kind of want someone to attept this assassination, so that I can set them straight." said Rade with a mischevious gleam in his eyes. "Though I suppose using the queen as bait is a little taboo."
Rade rested his cane and his shoulder and shifted his grip on his briefcase to a more comfortable postion. "So.... when do we leave?" said Rade with a smile.

Gear cocked an eyebrow. "I'll make sure to tell the queen you said that." He grinned and adjusted his visor before continuing. "Well, I was hoping beyond hope that there would be more people willing and able to take this mission, but I guess it's just the three of us. We leave now. Head straight for the hangar and board Jet M-4." With that, Gear vanished from view.

Kaneharo walked into the War room, although with his light feet, it was more of a hover. He knew it was a while since he last did a mission that employed his skills, so he patiently waited for orders. hmm, He thought. It seems that there are few here for this mission... Are we really this busy?

Sony ran towards the War room as fast as he could, for he had been sleeping when the announcement was made and he had just woken up. He hated being late to mission briefings, even though it was a habit of his. Damn it.....I hope I'm not too late....why does this always happen??? He thought to himself as he neared the room.

"About time you got here," Gear said, randomly intercepting Sony along the way. "Get to Jet M-4. I'll explain the mission when you get there." Gear continued to walk towards the barracks area. He'd forgotten something in his room he figured would be good to have.
