This takes place at the beginning of the Earth. It is a time before humans, when the animal kingdoms were the ruling power. But as the Earth begins to change and animals begin to evolve into something more menacing, the kingdoms must decide whether to keep fighting or to ally and stop this new threat. Zalao paced around his pack's camp. He kept glancing at shadows in the forest around them as if he expected to be attacked any moment. I have to calm down. If I let the others see that I'm distressed, they'll be nervous. I must have courage. For them. He stopped pacing and leapt on to the rock at the head of the clearing. "We need food. If we are to survive the coming winter, we must make our move now. We attack the Equines at nightfall." He looked up at the sky, seeing the sun was at noonday position. He noticed the leaves changing colors on the trees and closed his eyes thinking about how many more wolves they'd have to lose. "We'll be going through Feline territory, so I'll take volunteers first. It's dangerous, but we have to take risks to survive." With that, he jumped down and went off to be alone with his thoughts. He didn't like how thin the pack was getting, and the next closest pack was on the other side of the Canine territory.

Tiea has been watching the alpha wolf pacing around all morning and when he leapt off of the gathering rock he looked even more troubled than before. She got up enough courage to pad over to him, when she got within earshot of him she gazed at the young alpha with compassion. "so, whats on your mind, your highness?" she said with a little hint of humor as she sat down and tilted her head, compassion and understanding shining through her eyes. she looked at him, she hadn't realized it before but even on the outside he showed high levels of stress and worry. she looked at her own pelt and saw the signs of neglect in her grooming due to the worry for the alpha's mental health. (mental health meaning the stress and worry)

Zalao sighed and said, "Didn't I tell you not to call me that?" There was no hint of anger in his voice. He just sounded tired and weary. He avoided Tiea's eyes, looking instead at the ground and the surrounding trees. His gaze never stayed in one place for long. "What makes you think that something's bothering me?" He asked, straightening up, not wanting anyone to see him looking weak. I have a pack to lead. I can't fall apart.

Tiea sighed and rolled her eyes slightly "i don't know about everyone else, but I've been watching you lately. maybe something isn't bothering you , exactly...but i can sense something is on your mind, Zalao." she laid down and continued "i am not dumb, and i can tell something is on your mind...I'd like to help you, and wish for nothing in return. All I'd like to do is help put your mind at ease. your the Alpha and your mind is the most important thing in this whole pack. not the food, nor the water. Not the pups or the territory. the most important thing in a pack is the Alpha's mind and actions. and i would like to help your mind relax, I'll take some weight off of your shoulders so you can relax a bit. whatever you ask of me, i'll do in an instant." her voice was truthful and full of compassion and understanding. "do you not remember? i was a lone wolf, i know how hard it is to have every decision you make mean life or death...deal with starvation and winters. now i didnt have to thik about 20 or 30 wolves' lives in danger, only my own...but i can imagine the weight that is on your shoulders." she got up to leave "whenever you feel like talking, just call for me and i will come." she bowed slightly and smiled sweetly. then turned to leave.

"Don't you dare leave!" Zalao growled. He hadn't meant to say it like that, but it slipped out anyways. "Sorry, I didn't... I just... Never mind." He hung his head, feeling defeated. "I've never felt this way. I didn't mean to snap at you."

"We've lost more wolves fighting the Felines than we have in any other battle. They're currently in control of our major food sources. Winter is on it's way, and if we're not prepared, they'll attack! We're too weak, and too proud to admit it." He paused, thinking about everything he just said. "I've been the Alpha for little more over a year, and things were in chaos then. But it seemed easier in the beginning. It was summer, we were strong, we survived my first winter as Alpha..." He finally looked at Tiea. "You came into our pack. Things were just easier. But now I'm thinking that I can't do it alone..." He was starting to get some of his normal personality back. "I think I might be losing some of the pack's support. I need to do something about that..." He stood up and began to pace again, but this time it was in thought, not from stress.
