The Squad 8 training field is a large open yet dense forest. Large birch trees tower over you, their thick trunks create little room for you to move between while using shunpo. However the dense forest is perfect for you to train your agility, reflexes and ability to fight in a crowded environment. Use the trees to your advantage to gain vantage points, cover and use them to your advantage. If you really want to fight face to face in an open environment shunpo through the trees to the far end of the forest and there is a clearing where the grass has been eroded and dust and dirt can be kicked up easily as you shift.

Nakano walked into the dense forest. There were still things he needed to learn, and this was where he needed to do it. He was surprised that he had been made Lieutenant right away, so he had to do everything in his power to impress his new Taichou. Though he still had yet to make a proper introduction....

Either way, he needed practice. Nakano placed his zanpakutou on the ground before shunpoing into the trees. He made his way through the trees, trying his best to avoid hitting the trunks. Though he managed to rub against every single one of them, developing rather large scrapes. He also managed to hit a tree, hitting it with his shoulder. It was probably the most pain he had ever put himself through.

Ryo landed silently on a tree, sensing the approach of a reiatsu that was slightly unfamiliar to him. When Nakano passed Ryo realised who it was after catching a glimpse of him. Ryo also noticed his lieutenant almost collided with a tree and cringed as he almost impacted.

"Perhaps you would like to introduce yourself properly to me before you end up unconscious in Squad fours infirmary?..." Ryo said while landing on a branch in Nakano's path, which was slightly dangerous as Nakano was likely to collide. "I'm joking..." Ryo smirked, though he rarely made jokes, and moved aside to shunpo alongside Nakano swerving between the trees as he spoke. "I am actually impressed with your speed and agility. These trees are rather congested. However judging by your appearance your agility needs working on. Would you like to take a short break while you introduce yourself? I can aid you with your training if you wish." Ryo did not give Nakano the choice of a break as he shunpoed down to ground level landing with ease. He lent against a tree, arms folded, as he waited for Nakano to join him.

Nakano was surprised to see the Captain appear before him. He hadn't sensed him at all...one of his weaknesses. "T-taichou!" This was enough to distract him, sending him flying into a tree. After that, he was unable to continue shunpoing and ended up falling to the ground, landing with a thud. When he got up, he saw the Captain standing there, appearing to be waiting for an answer. Had he missed everything the Captain had said? His first time meeting the Captain officially and he screwed up already.

Nakano was quick to his feet. "Taichou-sama," Nakano bowed at him. "It is a pleasure to meet you! I'm Hikamori Nakano, your new Lieutenant." Though Nakano was sure his Captain knew this already. "I'm sorry you saw this...I'm not fit to be...your Lieutenant..." Nakano couldn't help but feel up set. He was greatly disappointed in himself.

Ryo raised an eyebrow at Nakano's negativity. "On the contrary. I would not have made you my lieutenant if I did not believe you could handle it." He scratched the back of his head, while pushing himself from the tree and walked up to Nakano. "I'm sorry I startled you, and trust me, I have seen worse mistakes." Upon reaching Nakano Ryo shunpoed onto a branch above him and motioned for Nakano to do the same. "The first thing you must learn is to not to be so negative about yourself. That way, you are unlikely to progress as well as your potential suggests." Ryo looked through the trees before addressing Nakano once more. "Let's look at this in a positive way. From what happened here, we know what areas we need to address. To you this may not seem so much of a positive, but to me, I think it's quite handy that I know how well my lieutenant is doing. This way I can help you in any way." Ryo looked intently at Nakano to see his reaction to this. "So...what do you wish me to help you with? You are welcome to carry on by yourself, but I can stay if you wish."

Nakano couldn't smile at his Captain. He was incredibly happy...but he couldn't smile. "Thank you, Taichou..." Nakano shunpo'd up to the branch as well and listened to his Captain. But he had to think about the question at hand. What did he want to learn? There were too many things...but he shouldn't address them all at the same time. But he knew the most important thing was to become stronger. And to do so would be to learn one thing. "I need to learn bankai...please Taichou..."

Ryo sat on the branch thinking about what was the best way to go about this. After much though Ryo thought of a solution. "Ok...There is a way, if you are willing to go through pain and exhaustion." Ryo did not say this in a way to scare Nakano but in the same way as if they were talking about the weather. "Firstly you will have to fight me. This is just the way I do it. Other Captains may prefer other ways but..." Ryo trailed off before leaping from the branch to one further away from Nakano. "So...Firstly, you will fight me. I will probably go into Bankai and you may release into shikai. Do not fight me and give up...fight me with all your determination and strength. Just because someone possesses bankai does not mean they cannot be defeated....At some point your zanpakuto spirit may show itself...This will probably happen when you are suffering...Your zanpakuto will then decide what will happen next, they may set you a task, or you may have to fight them. It all depends on the zanpakuto..." Ryo adjusted his feet on the branch so he was in a more steady position. He then looked at Nakano. "If you accept this training then you may now begin the fight..."

Nakano just stood there. Was he afraid? Yes. He was horrified. He knew he had to do this, and pain didn't bother him any more. But he was afraid of his zanpakutou. What if he couldn't do it? What if his zanpakutou left him? He was afraid of the outcome.

But Nakano jumped out of the tree, heading to retrieve his zanpakutou. And as he gripped the hilt, he couldn't help but feel himself shake. He was also just fresh out of school. Yes, ahead of the other students because he had gotten his shikai early in the year, but he had never been in real combat with anyone else. This would be his first battle against a another person. He didn't know what would happen.

Nakano took a couple of steps forward, raising his zanpakutou in front of him. Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Nakano said, "I am ready, Taichou." It was then that he released his shikai. "Roast you enemies, King of Fire." His zanpakutou stretched out, forming itself into a whip before setting itself on fire.

Ryo remained in place while Nakano retrieved his zanapkuto. He could tell by his body language that Nakano was nervous. "Have faith in yourself, Nakano. Your zanpakuto spirit is unlikely think you worthy of bankai if you doubt them and yourself." Ryo then crouched to see Nakano enter shikai. He raised his eyebrows in interest, watching it's movement intently. Without moving Ryo muttered "Sora made Todoroki". However no sign or change was shown by Ryo, so only Nakano hearing Ryo mutter would indicate the release. "So...Lets get started...You ready?..." Ryo sat on the branch gazing down at Nakano thinking...Which would challenge him and the fire more?... Ryo sighed. His choices often frustrated him but he did not want to release into bankai yet. Instead, Ryo decided to fight Nakano himself to see his abilities and techniques. Sliding from the branch Ryo kept his distance from the whip. Keeping eye contact with Nakano, a sudden rope of shadow raised itself from the shadow cast by the tree behind Ryo. After a split seconds pause it shot suprisingly quickly towards Nakano. Two more followed suit seconds after.

Mochi skipped into the training grounds happily, her heart and head in cloud nine. She was ready to train, even if it meant talking to Odokemonoshi. She felt that with Hei's help, she would be able to control and tame her spirit, though she already knew it would be harder than anything she had ever done.

Pulling her zanpakutou off her back, she held it in her small, pale hands and chewed her bottom lip, easily becoming deep in thought. She could feel the tickle of Odo waking and stirring around in the air, but tried her best to ignore him.

"Ignoring me will do you no good little Puppet." Odokemonoshi whispered in his silky yet entirely scary voice. He had appeared in front of Mochi and was smiling his usual demented smile with his top hat in his right hand, and his left behind his back. He was wearing something similar to Mochi's outfit, though his consisted of pants and a long sleeved shirt that had spikes pointing outwards on the shoulders. His head held no visible hair, and that fact just added onto his creepiness.

Her eyes widening, Mochi jumped at least three feet back and let out a loud shriek. "Y-you!" she chirped, her staff now on the ground. Her breath had become highly erratic, and sweat had began to glisten on her forehead. There were only two things she was truly afraid of: her zanpakutou spirit, and being alone. She had never been able to handle those things well, even though she'd been alive for so long.

Letting out a sneering laugh, Odo spoke again.
"Why yes, it is I, the beacon of your deepest fears." he said and moved closer, causing Mochi to take two steps back. He bended at the waist slowly, picking up her staff and twirling it in his left hand, his right still clutching the top hat.

"P-put that back!" Mochi yelled and balled her fists at her sides her face scrunching up in rage. She hated that she was so afraid of him, and that she didnt know why she was!

Chuckling, Odo continued to twirl it until it began glowing deep purple. When he stopped it's movement, the staff had a cerulean and black head now sat atop the now purple staff, it's malice filled eyes gleaming happily in Mochi's direction. A cold chill ran down her spine as she stared into it's eyes.

"I like that look of fear in your eyes Puppet." Odo murmured and disappeared from sight and reappeared behind the purple haired girl and sent out a wave of dangerously sharp cards. Turning to face her spirit, she didnt realize until too late that he was sending out a card attack. Her arms shot up quickly, protecting her face, but the rest of her body became covered in small paper cut like wounds that didnt bleed, but hurt like nothing she had felt before.

A sudden, intense feeling of rage bubbled up inside of Mochi, causing her to drop her arms and lunge for Odo. She went right through him, instead crashing into the ground in a fit of hair and dirt. After a cackle of laughter, the clown disappeared, leaving her staff in its sealed form. Sitting up slowly, the girl looked around, then down at her arms, which were still littered with small red lines.

"I-I'll get him next time."

It took Mochi several long moments before she could stand and get to moving again. Giving up entirely on training, the small girl picked her staff up gingerly and strapped it to her back. She poked at one of the cuts on her arm and hissed as it burned back. "Ouchie!" she whined loudly and stomped her foot, marching out of the training grounds in a huff. She was going to go around to each Division and look for someone to talk with. Hopefully she'd find someone entertaining.
