1. Member Qualifications:

Any member who wishes to participate in the UMC will have to be at least a Charlie ranked role-player. You receive your rank from a Crew member. Any other qualifications can be lumped with the invitation requirements. To participate in the UMC, you will first have to receive an invitation.

2. Invitation and Requirements:

The only way to participate in the UMC is to be invited, but invitations aren’t just handed out to everyone. In order to receive an invitation, you have to earn one. In the text to follow, you will find a list of the requirements that need to be fulfilled by any member who wishes to participate in the UMC so they may warrant an invitation. If you're looking to receive an invitation, please request to be monitored in the Request for Surveillance thread.

a. Actively advertising in community
--- For Missions
--- For Members
b. Active participation in the League
c. Productivity within the League

Each invitation will contain the same information. A basic outline of that information is: a small congratulatory speech welcoming you into the UMC, the Tournament start date, a character profile to be filled out and submitted, and a link to the Final Registration thread.

3. Profiles and Character Limitations:

Once you’ve received an invitation, you are asked to fill out a character profile. This character profile will be the character you use during the Tournament; which can either be the same as the character used inside the League, or someone else entirely.

Each profile will be reviewed by a Judge to ensure that a contestant’s character abides by the limitations we’ve set. If the over-all strength of one character seems to fall outside the limitations, then it will be brought before the other Judges and examined. If the Judges see a need to, they may ask the contestant to make certain changes to their character profile so their character falls within those limitations, as long as the contestant has been informed as to the reasons why such changes are being asked to be made.

Character limitations apply to the material weapons carried by, magical abilities of, and/or the physical attributes (strength, speed, agility) of a contestant’s character. By setting character limitations, we'll assure each contestant who enters the UMC to be on an even playing field against their opponents.

4. Competition Bracket:

Each contestant will be seeded randomly in the tournament bracket, to avoid any substantial complaints. As the tournament advances, the contestants in each match will be determined by their place in the bracket, who advances and who is eliminated.

5. Matches and Arenas:

Matches have a set deadline of a week, and each match could either end before the deadline or be stopped by it. After each match, a contestant will be given rest before their next match is set to begin. As such, each match will have it’s own thread in the Tournament Subforum, allowing us to house several matches at once.

Each contestant will enter a match against another contestant in a specifically designed arena structured around their character‘s weapons, gifts (or irregular abilities), strengths and weakness: all of which should be disclosed in the character profile the contestant should have submitted before the tournament begins. Arenas will be designed by the Judges of the match.

6. Victory Criteria and Elimination Method:

Every contestant will be judged in the same three fields. Those fields are the following; role-play ability, battle style, and literacy skill.

One’s ability to role-play depends on their ability to comprehend another character’s actions and/or words, incorporating another character’s actions and/or words into their own, knowing and following your character’s physical limitations, knowing your character’s weaknesses and strengths, and the over-all understanding of the written rules of role-play. AMP v2.0

One’s battle style is their personal style of combat. We will be judging this by a number of factors: Mastery of characters’ Powers/Weapons, creativity using their characters’ Powers/Weapons while also being practical, use of the landscape, their character’s tactics during battle, how affective those tactics are against their opponent, and how well they can adapt to any given situation.

Literacy level is the ability to understand an others post, their ability to communicate their character’s actions and thoughts in their own posts, proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation, and one’s use of the English language.

By applying these three fields when making judgment, each Judge will then rate each contestant with a score of 1-3 at the end of every match. The contestant with the highest score is the victor (maximum of 9).

7. Judges and the Council:

A Judge is a selected member who will be trusted to oversee upholding the Rules and Regulations of the UMC, observing each match in the tournament and applying fair judgment when deciding the victor, holding and updating the contestants’ character profiles, and performing any maintenance that may arise in the UMC.

The Council is the collection of Judges. To apply for a position in the Council and to be a Judge, you will have to submit an application form in the UMC Council Application thread. A list of all the current Councilmen can be found in [blank].
