 "Come'ere Hanta," Ziggitysassers called, unable to hide her irritation completely, "Don't go dragging your paws after yourself."
Nursing the small kitten had turned out to be almost as annoying as being pregnant with it, but thankfully Hanta had started to eat more solid food and was now slightly less dependent on her. Angotops hadn't offered much help - no surprise there - so Ziggity had kept mostly to herself during her first weeks as a mother. Raising a kitten had given her yet another reason to admire Underspots. She had raised two of the darned things without going mad, and that couldn't have been easy.
It was both a disappointment and a relief that there was only one kitten, but she had high hopes for the little brat. She'd be a valuable member of their group, and hopefully a royal pain in the backside for the Jellicles, but she would have a lot of growing up to do first. However, she was certainly big enough to meet their leader, even if Ziggity had started to doubt that they'd ever get to her given their current (lack of) speed.
She once again turned back to see what kept the girl. She suppressed a sigh as she realised that Hantatakk plodded along to the best of her abilities, but that the issue was that her short stubby legs couldn't carry her much faster than that. Oh, for the love of... Grabbing the kitten by the scruff of her neck she started moving in a quicker and much more satisfying pace.

Underspots was having a very peaceful, relaxing day. She had scaled a tree near the not-so-secret hideout of her and her minions and she was enjoying the calm air. She was also keeping an eye on a nearby nest. It belonged to a couple of birds who were extremely slow realizing that they were living near a group of unfriendly felines, Cocoa was considering .. informing them. She didn't need to see inside the nest to know there were no eggs, the birds wouldn't be leaving eggs unguarded. Or so she assumed, she was a mother, she had known better than to leave her offspring unprotected. Sometimes she doubted they could go without her even as adults.
"Hmm," she sighed, glancing off away from the nest, towards the ground once again. Was someone coming?

The place were she had decided to have her kitten was not far from their main den, but everything seemed to take more time with a kitten in tow. Motherhood had made her slightly paranoid about certain things, and some of the Jellicles did know the location of their hideout after all, so she had kept her kitten hidden until she had opened her eyes and was a less vulnerable.
"Boss?" Ziggity called after putting Hantatakk down.
Ziggitysassers was pretty good at making up funny nicknames, in her own opinion. Her victims weren't always very impressed, but that was part of the fun. However, she would never dream of calling Underspots anything else than Underspots, Cocoa or Boss.

Ziggitysassers appeared from just the direction that Underspots was looking when she took her eyes away from the nest. She gave a last merciful glance towards the nest before she abandoned her post to go and see what was happening. She had wondered about Ziggity in the last little while, heard that something was keeping her occupied and, well, this looked like an answer. So she hopped down from the tree, landing gracefully on her feet- an unexpected quality in a cat that lived outdoors and definitely looked the part.
"Good morning," she greeted her friend, smiling. She stood tall and confident, her head and tail high. Her eyes were on Ziggity first but then she looked down to the small striped kitten. How very interesting, and very familiar. The stripes and eyes were unmistakable.
"Who do we have here?" she asked, her smile softening a bit for the benefit of the youngester. She was a mother, but she was also quite smart. Scare tactics were not necessary for much of her band and no one need be mistreated here, especially a kitten.

Ah... There she was! She nodded a greeting to Underspots and sat down, curling her tail around her feet. Ziggity gave her daughter a gentle nugge with one paw.
"Answer the question," she said and gave Hantatakk an encouraging smile. She was quite proud of her daughter, despite what she might say at times, and today it showed.
"I'm Hanta," the kitten said, after looking up at Mommy to check if it was okay to speak, "Are you my daddy?"
Mom had said daddy might be where they were going and she had thought a lot about that on the way there. This cat looked nothing like her, but Hanta hadn't really met anyone but her mother and had yet to learn about mothers, fathers and where kittens came from.
She had led a sheltered life so far, and it was very exciting for her to finally meet more cats in her family.
