When Dudley was attacked by the dementors in Order of the Phoenix, he saw himself for what he truly was.

Wait, I don't understand. Dementors don't make you see anything, they just suck the happiness/soul/whatever out of you.

You know how Harry hears his parents getting murdered whenever he's attacked by a dementor, well Dudley, I guess heard or saw, himself for what he truly was. I looked it up online, and JKR confirmed that's what Dudley saw when attacked by the dementors in OotP. I don't get it either, but oh well.
