I have returned to my teaching post. As such the special assignment has been moved to the library.

This lesson WILL be moved to the Library on 12/12/09 to make room for lesson 3 which will be posted on 12/14/09 so I ask my current students to please complete this assignment before then. If you cannot and have a good reason why please let me know and we will work something out.

After reviewing the Special Assignment answers, it seems many of you want the dice system or other activities included with your assignments. While I dislike the idea of your grades being left up to the mere roll of a dice instead of critical thinking and context reading, I feel compelled to comply. So without further ado:

Lesson 2 - Wingardium Leviosa (win-GAR-dee-um lev-ee-OH-sa)

"Levitation Charm"
"wing" + "arduus" L. high, steep + "levo" L. to raise up, levitate

Causes an object to levitate.

Swish and flick is the basic hand movement for this spell....

Your assignment: Make the pineapple levitate.

Roll a 10 sided dice:

1 - 3 : You can't even manage a tiny inch of levitation. The pineapple explodes with a *splish* and you are covered with Pineapple goo. You get 5 House Points for effort though.

4-7: You manage to levitate the pineapple quite a few inches off the table. Well done. 10 House Points.

8-9: You manage to levitate the pineapple to the middle of the room, after which it drops and hits the floor with a *squish*. Not much style to it but the length to which you levitated it is oustanding. 15 House Points.

10:You manage to levitate that pineapple across the room and place it gently on the teacher's desk. She smiles at you and awards you 30 house points for outstanding work.

Notes:
I will check back and report your house points to Malzador. Please do NOT roll more than once as only your first roll will count. If anyone has any suggestions as to a more efficent way to conduct a lesson like this pm me with your ideas. Thank You.
