I played this game for a little while but I dislike the battle system for the game. The story itself seems interesting though from the start, but I'm still in the first city so I don't really knows what happens afterwards.

I didn't like it myself, so I switched to auto and just used the stylus.

Well, I have a question. Any tips on beating Mr. Hanekoma on This Day Ends With You? I was on Easy and he still kicked my butt.

If you're running auto, and are resorting to easy, then you are definitely doing something awfully wrong. Sorry to say this, but I'm glad Mr. H is hard enough to send lots of people on this issue, like you.

Real men, or whatever you could call to annoying people like me, play with the puck and juggle it all the way to 5x. Most follow it with the eyes, while doing something "generic" in the screen they aren't looking. If the puck is below, I use a massive damage pin while pressing down for the top screen. After Neko's MASSIVE x 5 Damage is done and the puck is going up, I look for a clear opening to attack with the partner for 5x DAMAGE COMBO while either avoiding stuff with Neku, using defending pins or using a pin that attacks while I evade, or throwing "small and wide" attacks like those ones where you slash Neku for projectiles. Then its back to Neku again and another MASSIVE PIN BLOW TIMES FIVE!

Enough of Puck rant. Healing Pins are a must, as well as massive defense. Go get some "report items" that boost your defense and buy some of those food that boost your Bravery by 20 or 50. Some, like the rubber Duck, can increase you defense quite a lot, for few bravery. Even a neglected Shiki should be able to wear a few of these clothing most easily. Once you can get over 50 defense on clothing, boost attack a bit, and eat as many stat building food you can get your hands on for a few days. Its easier to focus on one partner at a time with the "good" food that boosts Atk and Def for 3 or 4 points, while giving minor ones to the others when your main partner is "full". Getting the "Iron Vixen" Sticker also helps, since then no one ever ets full of food. But that sticker requires *gasp* TWO Scarletites... Unless you are already good enough on your own, or haven't beaten the whole story yet, Scarletite isn't going to be falling on your lap like that. For Healing, if you can manage to not get too much damaged during the game, there's this Water Shield pin known to be the GOD of healing, at least against Bosses that can't hurt you much too fast and if you can't damage them a lot either. It Re-boots, and that's why its so good in this kind of cases - infinite uses.

Most people only think of "Hit hit hit, Kill kill KILL" and ignore the puck and all the bravery/clothing/stats thing and then they get this understandable hatred for Taboo noise. If they followed it, and paid attention to giving the characters stat boosting food, they could beat the game in Hard first run, without any problem.

The last boss is called the easiest thing ever... To no wonder. That thing is a puck frenzy, since all you have to do is press one very predictable key for every partner to get a permanent puck that goes all the way to 5x in no time. Again, most don't give a damn and just think the longer you fight it the easier it gets. If only people realized ALL battles are like that. Yes even TABOO SHO MINAMOTO's Hard and Above battle can become easy after a bit of Pin collecting, stat building and actually paying attention to the Light Puck. He's a TABOO FORM for a reason! He only takes 10% damage and he's a boss!

And I'm amazed Sullen can say he has all pins mastered before he got all reports and the boss rush. Unless he had help, the reports and the boss rush should be a piece of cake by the time he managed to collect all those pins. And some pins, like the numbered ones that push enemies around, can take a LOT of time to develop. In fact, I might have used the one with "04" which takes 20 long levels to master for the span of 5 of Joshua's days while grinding for all noise drops on all difficulties. Makes me wonder what he has been doing the whole time he mastered pins. I can't find myself killing the same thing over and over.

TL, DR:

Finding yourself stuck? Tried all pins and nothing works? Taboo noise kick your arse?
Stop paying attention to your pins.
->The Light Puck is a damage multiplier up to 5x that goes across screens every time you attack. Follow it and keep it alive to beat bosses 5 times faster. This means actually putting Neku in your "secondary" focus every few seconds to do a combo "upstairs"
->Increase your Bravery, ATK and DEF. Sync rate increasing food are a complete waste of bits. Then wear only the best clothing possible, either the best stat builders or the best effects.
->Taboo noise only take 10% damage or less from ALL your attacks... Unless you have the Puck, then they take full damage. *hint hint*
