Lorenz Milton, the king of all media gossip, has invited everyone big and small to his first ever Masquerade Bash! As you enter the double doors of his elaborate manor, the first thing you see is a large chandelier hanging from the ceiling, but the lights have been replaced by tall candles. People in costumes and masks mill around, some near a large buffet table, others on a huge dance floor. A live band, all wearing skeleton masks play near the dance floor, and are playing lively, haunting tunes. The guest list comprises of many famous people, but it's impossible to know who, as everyone covers their face.
((OOC Requests and Reminders: All characters must be wearing a mask or some disguise to keep their face concealed. All masks will be removed and identities will be revealed at the end of the event when notified. Characters must be active in this RP event in order for this to qualify as an RP for advancement.))

Ana Cruz arrived at the party in an outfit she had spent weeks putting together with Hannah Wintour, editor in chief of Chic magazine. The look was loosely inspired by the fashion of pop singer Lady Baba. It was a purple wrap top that ended just at her waists. On the back of the outfit extended two butterfly wings. There was a skirt attached to the wrap that only covered her rear and sides, leaving her front completely exposed. She also wore a regal neck covering around her shoulders. For the required accessory, she wore a metal mask shaped like half a butterfly wing. She found the whole look to be very fashionable, classy and sexy, which she felt reflected her personality and style beautifully. She made her way to the bar and sat on a high barstool with her legs crossed, letting the half-a-skirt hang to her side as she ordered an appletini. Lorenz definitely knew how to throw a party, the entire room looked divine and luxurious, a perfect setting for the impressive guest list. When her drink arrived, she shifted in her seat to face the door, watching as people strolled in in beautiful costumes and masks. She tried to guess who was entering, but it was proving to be more challenging that she had thought. Perhaps her mask was too modest? But she wasn't that recognizable yet. Hopefully she would be able to recognize her friends more easily.

Riley fiddled first with the large plumes adorning her hair, making sure with her new, short hair that they didn't fall out. Next she moved her mask back and forth, trying to optimize how well she could see out of the holes and finally she let the jade pendant she had been nervously chewing on drop down to her neck.
She knew she was supposed to be concealing her identity, but she couldn't help but wear the old necklace, given to her by her family when she was little. She hoped that no one had noticed her tendency to wear it everywhere she went. Even in her Planet of Gorecraft commercial, under all the other dangly jewelry she had hidden little jade necklace.
The dark dancer looked around and her face suddenly dropped. Oh crap...there was no way she was going to find anyone she knew. Who was she supposed to talk to. Riley sighed. This might be more of a boring night than she originally thought.

Taking a deep breath, Brodi entered into the large room. He was slowly getting used to walking into a large crowd of famous celebrities, but he still couldn't shake the nerves in his stomach.
He adjusted his Japanese mask his sisters picked out for him, and was thankful that his outfit matched the blue color. As he looked around the room of strangers and tried to find someone he knew. He looked for Ana, or Lela, or Andrew. Someone he knew.
He always kept an eye out for Riley. He knew it was going to be hard to find her. He never got that hint she promised.

Ana waited for a recognizable face - or figure - for quite some time. She had already moved on halfway through her second drink. There was some beautiful outfits buzzing around, including this one woman in a bright green dress and plumes in her hair. But nobody she was able to recognize. Where were her friends? Where was Riley? Growing frustrated, she stirred her drink aggressively until she noticed a familiar figure. He wore a blue suit top, white bottoms and a blue Japanese-influenced mask of sorts. She wasn't sure quite who it was, but he definitely seemed familiar for some strange reason. She finished her drink and grabbed a new one so she could have something to carry as a prop. Ana then made her way over to the man with a large grin on her face. With half her face covered, she felt it was hard to express delight with just her eyes like the way she was trained to do as a model. "Hello there," she said a little loudly, reaching out on hand. "I like your mask."

Brodi looked over to see an exotic purple butterfly walk towards him. He smiled lightly under the mask, thinking that it was Riley, but over closer inspection he saw that her hair was too long and her skin was too light to be the Egyptian girl. The only reason he could tell was because her dress showed so much of it.
He tried his hardest not to stare, and was thankful that his mask hid the blush that had danced across his cheeks. "Hehe, thanks. My younger sisters picked it out for me." He said as he reached up to it.
"I love your... outfit." He wasn't sure if it was a dress or a skirt or anything like that, so in order not to embarrass himself he just mentioned to the whole thing.

"Thank you," she said in a way she had rehearsed for hours in the mirror. She always assumes she will get compliments for her outfits, but she feels the need to practice how she gives thanks for the compliments to be classy without coming across too arrogant. "Your mask is so large, how are you going to drink?" Ana teasing playfully. She was curious to see what he looked like under the mask. He had a nice physique and an attractive voice, but it may just be the mystery that was so alluring. "Are you old enough to drink? Not like that really matters here. What are they going to do? Card you to see if the mask matches your ID?" She laughed brightly at her own joke, doing her best to make small talk.

(( I assume I can introduce myself him here, yes? << >> No, probably not, but ah well... ))
Fred stood at the drink table, staring down into the punch bowl. The glittering, shimmering red liquid like a pool of glowing life that the God's placed upon this table especially for him... to poison him. Yes! Surely be it this night! The night of his very demise by simply drinking from this placid nectar. Oh, but would someone else be poisoned? No, certainly not, it was magical, intended to smite him in the roots before he could ignite the revolution against the punch-bowl-Gods. Fred stared at the punch for a few more minutes before finally serving himself a cup and taking a sip under his mask with a small twang of fear in his spine. Best die tonight. He didn't want to start a revolution; too much responsibility.
Fred turned around to stare out at the few people floating around with awe and fear. There costumes were fantastic while his was his everyday wardrobe, his only wardrobe, and a big gaudy mask that had been hanging on his wall. He had often had in-depth conversations with the mask, so it felt a little odd that it was now on his face. It felt like he was wearing a person, strapped to his face. It certainly felt heavy. No, it felt like he was the mask now. He was the person. Maybe now he would have the courage to talk-up the ladies and make business deals with the men. Conquer fame and glory, bursting out of his shell and becoming a star! Fred scratched the stubble on his chin under his mask. No, he didn't really want to do that. He just wanted to make money. Make money and go buy a castle in Ireland or something. Yes, that seemed suitable. Obtainable? He wasn't so sure.
Fred ate a chip.

He laughed genuinely. It was probably the best joke he had heard in a while. The last one he heard had to do with oranges and banana's. He never understood it, but memorized the punch line after his sisters told it to him all summer.
"I am old enough to drink, but I've never really liked any of the fancy stuff." He said as he adjusted his mast, accidentally revealing his face from his nose down for a moment. "Give me a beer and the big game on the weekend and I'm set." He chuckled.

Extravagantly Dressed Woman"Plumes?" asked the woman in a beyond-extravagant white and gold ball-gown with a matching mask and tiara. She smiled at the woman with plumes in her hair. Normally she would begin a conversation by introducing herself, but in the past few years, she felt that she needed no introduction. But behind this mask, things were different. And in a weird way, she somewhat liked that. Despite the way the media portrayed her, she wasn't that much of a diva. Sure, she liked to wear nice things and was part of the most powerful couple in the music industry, but she hated the way that was publicized. But extravagance was expected out of her, and boy could she deliver. "Very bold! I love when people take a chance with their attire," she said. "You pulled it off very well. You look absolutely stunning." It was then that she noticed the necklace the other woman wore. "Oh, my! I love your necklace! Where did you get such a beautiful gem?"

Riley turned, pausing her surveillance of the room and was greeted with a very fancy woman. Only half of the woman's face was covered, but Riley couldn't be sure of who she was, so she wondered if maybe it was another talent that worked for the agency.
Although, Riley really didn't pay too much attention to the famous people, she saw movies, but didn't go out of her way to memorize the people in it, and she listened to music, but she never looked up what the singer looked like. So it was possible they were quite famous.
Riley decided that it'd be best not to assume anything here. She thought briefly that Lorenz really was a clever man. Did he intend for all this second guessing to happen?
"Oh, thank you!" she said, smiling sweetly. The dancer touched her jade necklace. "Oh, this? I got it from my grandmother, when I was still back..." she was about to say 'in Egypt' but she knew she wasn't supposed to be giving away anything. "Back home," she finished. "I think she got it when she visited China, when I was 7."

Extravagantly Dressed Woman"China?" the woman asked with a warm smile on her face. She had just been to China, so there was something for her to talk about. "I just got back from China a few weeks ago for my tour. Well, then I went to Australia, and then England. But I'm happy to be back in the States now." She had hoped she didn't seem to be bragging about her success. Maybe she was as out of touch as people accused her to be after all. She was used to being surrounded by such high-profile celebrities that it is possible she fell slightly out of touch. The anonymity of the conversation was both a blessing and a curse. Perhaps if she knew a little more about the girl. "I'm a singer, by the way. Are you working in the industry at all?"

"The fancy stuff?" Ana asked. She wasn't quite sure what stuff was fancy. She had been drinking cocktails and fine drinks for so many years she wasn't quite sure what the average man's drink was. It wasn't that Ana was old - she was still young. Ana had just started drinking at a very young age. Her father was rarely around, so she would often throw wild drunken parties at her father's mansion. "I see." She looked around nervously for a moment, unsure if she could relate to the idea of drinking a beer or watching 'the big game'. Thinking of a way to spin the conversation, she took a massive gulp of her drink to give herself time. Finally, a thought. "So what brings you here tonight? Any hints to who you are under that mask?"

Brodi stole a quick glance around the room while Ana paused. He still couldn't make out anyone, and was starting to wonder if Riley was even there.
He looked back over to Ana after the long pause in the conversation and laughed lightly, bringing a hand up to rub the back of his head a little in embarrassment. "Well, I guess the only hint I can give you is that I'm a musician." He said. "And what about you Miss Flutterby?"

Heels - again heels. Whoever dictated that they were required for formal events was going to hear from her, Renee silently promised as she entered the luxurious room. Milton certainly knew how to throw a party, that was for certain, though not exactly surprising. She took a moment to take it all in, a little flustered by the fact that everyone was in masks. She hardly knew anyone in the industry as it was. Though she'd hoped to run into Ana again, it wasn't likely.
Still, some of the costumes were extravagent, even inspiring. One, however, stood out from the crowd - a young man dressed in well-worn clothing and a solar-based mask. Smoothing her skirt a bit (and why had she chosen this getup, anyway? She looked like a sugar confection that belonged on a carousel!), she made her way to the buffet table and the masked stranger.
"Good evening," Renee said as she came up to him. If it's one thing she'd learned, and learned quickly, it was that shyness was not an option if you wanted to get somewhere. Being a client of Walk of Fame had broken her out of that a bit.
"Lovely mask," she added.
