Humanity Wields a Midas touch on the world. that which we see as beautiful is what we create from a depraved god complex, as time passes we destroy trees and rivers in search of treasure and "beauty," even the creatures of the world are effected by our reach. I have heard people quote "god gave us dominion over the birds and beasts" but who defines beast? what Creature feels itself so mighty that it has dominion over a wolf or a bear?

How might I be of assistance?

We believe ourselves mighty because we have the greatest power to instigate change. A community of wolves can do little damage compared to a community of humans. We are the most successful invasive species.
We fail.

Hope that helps! Have a nice day!

No, but humans have agency, the freedom to act for themselves. They can choose to destroy one another with out involving any form of deity in the mix. Yea, some do it in the name of their religion, but the deity didn't make them destroy one another, man chose to destroy.

You see, humans are dumb and they think they're on top of the world and in control. We're not. We ARE animals. This idea was invented by the Abraham religions to assert dominance over animals and others. It gives them the right to test on animals and starve the Earth of its resources. Why do people think that way? Because humans are naturally selfish.

Your questions are short and easy to answer:

"Who defines beast?"
-Whoever did the quoting, in this case, the dudes that wrote the Bible. As far as I know, only humans have ever defined "beast."

"what Creature feels itself so mighty that it has dominion over a wolf or a bear?"
- I do, for one. Locked in a room with a bear/wolf I would get mauled, but I am fairly confident that I could take one given an expanse of wilderness and enough time to prepare. And that is by myself; I think it is fairly obvious that as far as species are concerned Homo Sapiens has dominion over everything on this planet.

Hope that helps. biggrin

Jerba2, how could you?

Calling humans dumb is like calling whales tiny. Only in relation to something usually considered irrelevant, like planets, are whales considered tiny. Likewise, humans are only considered dumb if you compare them to some god-like alien being or robot that as of yet is only a figment of the imagination.

Compared to all the other animals we know of, humans are certainly not dumb.

You DONT think we are on top of the world and in control?

For one thing, we humans cover the entire surface of the world, and have even flown off of it, so unless you define "on top of" as "in the core," we most certainly are on top of the world.

In control? Again, compare us with any given animal species and we are certainly dominant. We humans have the power to extinguish all life on earth, in fact we have almost done it already. Can you think of any other animal species with that power?

"we ARE animals." -okay, sure. If your definition of "animal" includes humans, then so it does. Could you, then, be specific and state your definition of "animal?"

"humans are naturally selfish."

-By comparison to what?
-Define selfish.
-Tell that, with that tone of voice, to Ayn Rand. biggrin

Nature is a closed system.* Because we are a part of that system, we can make no change to the system as a whole. That's basic physics.
__
*Nature is debatably not a closed system. But, for the sake of argument, we can assume it is, nevertheless, it should have no effect on the point I'm trying to make.

Jerba:

By "nature" you mean the entire universe? Because isnt that the only true closed system that exists?

In tha case, then yes, we will not be able to change the universe "as a whole." However, we will be able to rearrange things inside it considerably. biggrin

If by "nature" you mean something smaller than the Universe, than I would say we can possibly change nature as a whole, perhaps by destroying it entirely... smile
