Hey, have you guys ever thought about is the expectations for you are a bit too high and therefore making a microscopic mistake a felony?
Today i got named student of the month of my junior class. I have straight A's in all AP classes and my highest % grade is a 99% in Chemistry. Today, since Chemistry is my first period class and my Chemistry teacher happens to be my homeroom teacher; she told me that I had been nominated and won the student of the month award. She also told me that my grade is at a 99% and just 1% shy of a perfect score. She said that i can make it a 100% if i do well on my next test which is tomorrow. I mean, i love my Chemistry teacher and i respect her a lot; but its almost like she put me on a petistool too high and now i am petrified to make even the smallest mistake. To be so honest, i missed a day when a new material was covered and it was challenging material and it happens to be a big portion of the test... and i am scared that i won't be able to live up to her expectations. Do you know what i mean? I mean, what should i do in such a case? I mean, sure i know i can easily get a good grade and get that 100%... but still... what do you do when you are on a petistool too high and can't get off it without falling and breaking your neck??

You calm down. That's the first thing you'll need either way. Then you study the new concept until you know it. If the 100% means a lot to you, then all you need to do is calm down and walk into the test with a good mood. Remember the advice we both gave to Dr_Jelly about her big essay? Time to take a dose of our own medicine, Sweetie.

That isn't my point (taking a dose of my own medicine) My point is that the expectations are a bit too much for me to live up to i mean my teacher pressures me and pushes me harder than everyone in the class she wants me to get the 100%... i am content with a 99% because its still an A+... but as she said, "I want you to get the 100% that you deserve and i will do anything to make you earn it." I am fine with taking tests... but it's just the fact that tomorrow's test has 10x more pressure behind it than it needs to have in reality... make sense?

Relax.you have nothing to prove to anybody.I think when you try living up to people's expectations,you become your own worst enemy.take the test as you normally would.if you get 100,awesome! if not,oh well.if your teacher says anything,just repeat in your head the mantra "s**t happens" and move on.
If anything,your teacher is at fault for expecting too much from a human being.Nobody is perfect,and they should know that.if you don't get 100 and they mention being disappointed,remind them of this fact.

Thanks for the advice, Bill. What you said is actually 100% true and is undeniable. The funny part is... i went into AP Chem thinking that it would be my hardest course... at the end... it ended up being my easiest one. When teacher's see students excelling over and beyond in an AP course... the torment which i am receiving is there way of interfering as-so-to-say. Did i include the small fact that i have known her since middle school and yet i never had her as a teacher and that i am her most well known "teacher's pet?" - maybe this is part of the problem The thing is... my chemistry teacher knows that, especially since she has a doctors degree in pediatrics... and yet when it comes to me she throws that out the window... Sorry i am just a bit frazzled at the moment... Thanks again for all the advice... i will go in to do my best tomorrow and on Monday i will see what happens (;

XD Turns out I had a test in my Anthropology class first period. I freaked because I thought it was next week and I hadn't studied it. Turned out it was a piece of cake. I was the first one done.

Yep. That's really good. I don't think I've ever gotten perfect on a test before.

RosesFallingLikeRain Yep. That's really good. I don't think I've ever gotten perfect on a test before. Everyone's intelligence level is different. I can get a perfect score without trying at times... and its just because i am me and that's the way i am built. Trust me, if your best is a B... that is better than any perfect score because that's what you earned through trying and it was your best and not someone else's.

Same thing sort of happened with me recently: I had an appointment to hear about a college at 2o'clock.So i went to my 1:45 class and told my teacher about it and she said,"you have to take this test first." it was 65 objective questions,and i hadn't studied or known that it was going to be given that day.i finished the test in about 10-15 minutes and went to my appointment... A few days later,she hadn't finished grading all the papers but that she remembered that i did well on it.
Some people are fast test takers [like myself] while others take their time.to each their own,both have strengths and weaknesses...
