So many people who give at least a half assed thought about survival think the only way to stop a zombie is to destroy the brain. Many of them act like nothing else will work.
So let's flush the demon possession theory down the toilet and stick with the scientific likeliness of zombies. If it is a parasite or virus it is my understanding they pretty much control the body like a puppet.
This is where the conflict arises. For the muscles to properly work you need oxygen and food. This means the digestive and circulatory systems need to be in tact right? So if you destroy the heart instead the muscles can't get the blood and they die. Granted that could be a slower death, it would still get the job done.

Like a good friend of mine once said... if this is black magic, we've got far worse problems than zombies. If it's scientific, then certain things have to be true.
I'm more of a fan of the 28 ___ Later zombies, except with an incubation time more along the lines of days or weeks, not seconds. Also, superhuman strength and endurance. There are a handful of people in this world who have no sensation of pain, and they can overturn cars barehanded. They just KEEP LIFTING HARDER until something gives, whether it be their arms or the resistance. And I'm talking breaking bones, snapping tendons, and ripping muscles when I say "gives". The human body is an incredible powerhouse of strength when pain is taken out of the equation.

Don;t we only use something like 10% of our full muscle strength?

uryu ishida Don;t we only use something like 10% of our full muscle strength? I think that number is 10% of our brains. No idea what percentage of our full strength we use, but I know that pain is the big limiter. Any time you stop lifting, pushing, etc., it's because it hurt too much to keep doing.

Anyway this was more directed at those who believe Resident Evil and believe the 28 series and believe the max brooks book with no question and think the brain is the only way to stop them. Also I'm pretty sure it was only 10% of our brain we use. Also I remember hearing about a weight lifter that shot out part of his colon while trying to deadlift a lot of weight. gonk

The doctor just cuts a bit, pulls everything back in (they can't push it back in), sews em up, and then chews them out for a bit before sending them home.

Well I think the head shot thing came from the most common area for someone to aim with a gun. But if you have a melee weapon then usually just knocking their limbs off will render them totally helpless as they have no way of moving except to slowly pull themselves with their head, but then you can just stomp on the poor b*****d and end it.

But "knocking their limbs off" is among one of the most difficult feats to preform. Dismemberment is not an easy practice.

Well i would think that usually when people go for a melee weapon they usually pick sharp objects like machetes or axes. I didn't really include blunt objects. And if you have a gun in your hands and something that will bite the crap out of you, wouldn't you usually aim for the head? Think about it.

You used it in a somewhat historical context, saying the head is the target most people aim for. Since human zombies don't exist yet, you really can't say, "Well, most people aim for the head. IN THE FUTURE."
