I used to be a Catholic Christian. I switched to Buddhism last year. I havn't been confirmed to the Catholic church, but I have been baptised and had my First Communion. Is there something special I have to do to become a Buddhist?

I hope not, aside from taking the refuges (and believing in them) and actually remaining on good terms with the former faith (there's actually specific mention of that by the Buddha - you're to play nice and not disparage your old religion, support it where you can).
If there is something else I need to do, I might be in trouble. xd

1. if you're born into a buddhist family, you're likely to be a buddhist.
2. if you are practicing at a buddhist temple and/or with a teacher, you can ask to "take refuge," which means committing to the buddha (both the historical figure and our own potential to wake up to wake up), the dharma (his teachings) and the sangha (the community of followers). after a formal or informal ceremony, you become a buddhist.
3. you can create your own ceremony, or simply decide for yourself. i'm a buddhist.
