A lot of you have experience with attending or running parties, I'd like us to put our heads together to find the best way to set up this theater.

The whole guild is going to be in "Semi-RP" mode (pretty much posting with actions, some will take it more seriously than others) and the threads will be set up accordingly. But how?

Should some of them be stickies or announcements? Should we make a thread for every room on the front page, or release them as the days go by? Should be have someone make a big map of the theater so that they can make the threads themselves, then have a reference of the rooms?

We also need to build the Theater itself, establish the various areas and what not. I'll get to work on this for a bit...

Maybe subforums for different rooms of the theatre. Wait, does it cost gold to make sub-forums? I can't remember. If so, we could just do stickies, with an introductory "scene setting" post in each. The rest of the forum being a bit of a free-for-all?

The bathroooms should be haunted. Maybe someone drowned in there? (I'm thinking Moaning Myrtle ) rofl

Here are some areas. Just throwing out ideas.
Lobby
The theater itself.
Backstage
Catwalks
Prop room
Prop/set shop
Green room
Script library
Bathrooms
Dressing rooms.

Ghost origins idea: A techie who either died from a freak accident or was murdered.

I'd put all the rooms on the front page, and release some special ones as people "stumble upon them" in the RP or whatever. Don't sticky anything unless they're announcements or rules. This has seemed to work for similar events in the past.

I'll gladly write introductions for different rooms, and even possibly make a graphic for each one. I might even be able to do a layout picture, like this one but much better and cooler-looking:

I swear this is just like the event I held but less formal.

Very good Qwake! Very useful.

And that would be fantastic Miss. Chances are Haijin or Daks can help you out, and that would free my hands to get to work on other things. I have a good idea of how I'd like the theater set up so we could go through that.

5: Cost isn't an issue, but we'll be staying away from subforums. These events are rarely busy enough for them to be needed, and even if they were everything that enters a subforum ends up dead. I have one up for storage (and later for crew) That way during the actual event we can move ready threads easily.

The annoucements should be of the rooms they go to and the semi fourms will be stickys so they can RP and have fun.

User ImageDoes anyone know about Howl-O-Scream in Florida? I think we should sort of do it like that. 3nodding

As Miss conception said, I'd think stickies should be left to major announcements, rules and updates. I feel that the main room should be on the first page, and with Miss conceptions nifty map, maybe a mark or something showing the participants where they are.

I think another way to get into the murder mystery idea is to set up case files in a sticky. I'm not exactly sure how many suspects we're going to be having, but maybe they can be like our N.P.C.'s for this event and we as the participants can go and wander around scouting for clues and information to decide who really was the culprit. I don't know though, like I said, when I wanted to do one, the idea totally bombed in my head. XD

You guys are forgetting one of the most dangerous sections of a theater! What about the Orchestra Pit? So much poteential there. A dark, spacious area underneath the stage, rife with secret passageways so the musicians can get in and out freely. Maybe an actor fell through a trapdoor and perished, leaving his revnant to haunt the theater?

Also, what about a PoTO-style labyrinth of catacombs beneath the building?

Yes, we will keep stickies and announcements to business. Even if we get 100 people in here (which is looking like a possibility, this thing is really spreading) the front page will have plenty of room for everyone to interact.

In the past I've had Mansions where every room had its own thread... and half of them went untouched. Which gave me an idea (this is if we have a map). We could put the main areas up, such as the Theater, the Entrance Hall, all the big public areas... Then we'll have a room archive in a sticky under the map with all of the room descriptions. Say I'm in the Entrance Hall and I want to go to the room west of here. I could go to the Map, see what the room was called (let's say the kitchens), scroll down, copy the description and make a new thread. That way as people want to use rooms and areas they'll pop up, but they won't clutter the thread in the mean time.

And I'd really like to see if we can do this event with GCDers instead of NPCs. I've never run an event without NPCs before, sometimes we'd have as many as 10, and the job could have always been done better if we had people who took on the role. Say we want some cooks, let's get hire some GCDers to work the kitchens instead of making a cook NPC that we'll strip for gold after the event. It'll also give people an oppertunity to interact and work on their character.
I might bring back Butler Waldo, but we'll see. It seems like we have plenty of people willing to take on jobs.
