^ IGNORE THIS POST LOL. JUST READ THE TITLE ^

I was going to write some big thing about abuse of power and the reason why government officials don't sign petitions, but I won't. Instead, I'm just going to say things I don't like about the rules because there's no point in writing a speech on the internet. (oh Ignatieff, your facebook spam is amusing. lololol)

Quote:
*NEW* Petitions are welcome for any ideas you have for the guild or things you feel need to be changed. Petitions must be labeled with [Petition] as well as be fully outlined plans of how to execute their suggestions. Each petition must reach 10 signatures before being considered by the crew. If it achieves a majority vote from the crew, the petition will then go to a vote for the entire guild run by GCDSG-Kroo which will last for an entire week and be fully publicized. Any petition which receives the majority vote of the guild members will be announced and implemented. *NEW*

This is the rules post. Look at how magical and thought out and wall of text like it looks. It's written like a list, but isn't a list at all. Anyway.

Quote:

WHAT IS THIS. Seriously. If the majority likes it, but Kroo doesn't, it doesn't do anything? This is bad. This is really bad. This is almost a dictator level of wtf are you doing.

Also, I have noticed a trend in this forum. Things the Kroo like tend to pass because of the Kroo all voting for it, while things the Kroo does not like wither and die because we don't have a large enough voter base for the opinions of elected officials to not skew the votes. If we had 500 people, maybe. But I doubt that we have even 100 active members, and less than 25 (!!) that actually pay attention to/give a s**t.

so uh in the real world, some of the things the new kroo has already done would be in newspapers everywhere, and there would be media pressure, and other stuff like legal issues and whatnot, and there would be a reason not to ******** around with s**t. Not to mention the fact that there would be political parties and not just one ruling party (which usually turns out bad, but we're more of a club than a country so um)

OKAY SO I FAILED AT MAKING THIS SHORT.
... Just look at my tl;dr ->

tl;dr Kroo being able to vote in and for things makes them too powerful and they should be forced to be neutral and submit to the will of the people. :D
(also Chi's friend John said that I should add something about mobs and pitchforks... so here.)

I'm confused, do you mean we can't vote on petitions in this forum and then up for guild vote or just that we should remove the kroo voting on it in our subforum process or what? or all of that? are you trying to get rid of kroo from any place in petitions except implementing?

belle sweetie, the '10 votes then considered' is gone now, it was put in in the early stages to prevent people putting in things like "I think we should change the guild to being about ostriches." Also, no one really liked that all that much. (which is why it's gone)

the kroo tries to do what's best for the guild. when a petition goes to kroo now, if it gets majority vote (so 4) in either direction, that means it's passed/failed.

this isn't the real world. this new petition system is the most involved and reasonable the guild has ever been in getting new ideas to the guild.

the kroo uses this for new ideas. when we want something new in the guild, we put a petition forward before it turns to kroo. we don't just ******** around with s**t for lulz or w/e, and when we make mistakes we learn from them.

I feel this should have been a discussion that led to a petition of it went that way.

If this is a petiton saying that we should remove the kroo-vote part of the petition process- I will sign.

If this is a petition that says that Kroo should not be allowed to sign petitions or vote on petitions with the rest of the guild - I will not sign.

Basically, I don't think kroo should have it's own veto vote.
It makes it more about what the general guild public wants

belle sweetie,

AHAHAHAHA never do this again.

then update your rules post. not too hard, y/y?

This still means that if the Kroo doesn't like something, it doesn't pass.

I agree. For once. olol.

You could also put new ideas in announcements, which would alert the whole guild, and then people who don't really pay attention would put in their two cents, and then you could go straight to the guild poll by PM thing, and people would actually know it existed.

Where? In the Skype chat? If you haven't noticed, I'm not there anymore. Aaaaaand I'm not coming back. So no. <3

belle, why shouldn't kroo be able to make or vote in petitions? doesn't that make us useless?

no, I will not stop calling you sweetie. biggrin

I didn't know that old rulehadn't gotten edited out, and it's toastie's rule. didn't know it was THERE. :3

yes belle, it does mean that kroo can effect petitions. but you know, we're kind of kroo for a reason. guild is not anarchy. we are fair and have varried opinions.

if you feel that we could improve the petition process with an announcement, bring it up somewhere else? or put through another petition? I like the idea of a petition-announcement or something, kind of like look into kroo?

I don't mean a discussion in a skype chat. I mean a discussion thread in the guild about kroo's role in petitions and what would be wise and unwise. that way we could discuss opinions and look for reasonable compromises. I'm not against changing the ways kroo can effect the petition process, but I don't feel this petition is the wisest way to do it.

I want the Kroo to not be able to make or vote in petitions. :D

This removes the crew's opinions as people and refuses them their ability to have say in any and all guild decisions. Crew members are members of the guild too and deserve a say in what happens to it!

Serious Discussion in skype on guild matters is forbidden unless previously announced, agreed upon, and logged. A regular discussion thread would have sufficed : D <3

Then why should Kroo's opinion be held higher than anyone else's, Toastie?
I could understand in the case that the petition violates moral rules, ToS, etc, but that's normal mod activity.

The purpose of Kroo is to moderate, and keep the guild tame. Not to control, or dictate. Was there some extra power I'm not aware of they were given?

If they want a say, they can vote like anyone else.

I sign.

If you need me to explain my reasoning, please ask.

I'm not sure exactly what to think about this petition. It's kind of confusing. I would agree if it meant taking out the Kroo vote that goes on before the main vote, but to not let them have any say in creating or signing petitions is kind of harsh. They're members of the guild too.

I'm not going to sign, until this petition is better defined.

I sign.

Kroo should show a united front to the guild public. Having them make and sign positions makes it painfully obvious who is on what side. How can the guild be united when the people we are supposedly looking up to so obviously are not?

Besides they have the power to skip the guild petition and just go straight to seeing if the majority of kroo is for it. And Toastie has the power to veto any ******** up s**t guild members might pass.

I guess its the opposite of what you're saying Belle because I want them to have more power and REALLY REALLY REALLY want them to show a united front XD But I think that will come from them not being able to make petitions or sign them. In public.

Edit: Oh and also I think with the guild-wide vote kroo should be able to vote in those. I dont think they should be able to sign the petitions though.

I refuse to sign. I disagree with denying crew members a vote in petitions.

QUOTED FOR ******** EMPHASIS!

Couldn't have put it any better Nyms dear.

Anyways, personally, I don't really have an opinion on the matter so far... but I DO think that this entire thing is going in a completely wrong direction for what you INTEND Belle. I really don't have anything else to say AT THIS POINT.

I will agree with THIS part.
Kroo shouldn't be COMPLETELY removed from petitions.
Kroo should be allowed a vote like anyone else.

What this petition should be defined as:
[Petition] Removal of Kroo Vote before Guild Vote.

If a petition recieves an arbitrary number of signatures (to be decided based on activity) it will have a thread created as an announcement by GCSG-Kroo for voting on the issue.

In this manner, Kroo doesn't have a "special vote" because of their support or dislike of a certain issue.

Then why did you sign a petition that would deny crew members the vote, Shoy? I'm confused.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 17, 2009 2:56 pm

blah.
It seems that most people think that our government members are also civilians and should vote on stuff.
I guess I'll change the title to just banning them from deciding not to pass something with enough votes... oh well.
