He stands on the brink. The very edge of the tall cliff overlooking a rocky terrain, the ocean of life crashes upon these jagged ridges we call death. He is ready to jump, ready to end the thousands of years of hate. Torment. He knows this to be the end, he has seen it before. Just as he has seen it those hundreds of times before this. And the hundred more before that. Where does he go from here? Does he take a step back and try again? Or does he make that leap he has been longing to take for oh, so long...?
His eyes open and he finds himself facing an opponent that is fang and tooth, claw and nail. It is a hulking black mammoth of a thing that is indescribable aside from the word grotesque. His arms are heavy, but he lifts the weapon because he has no choice, the greatsword held in both hands angles downward in a defensive stance, spreading his legs to shoulder-width as the creature comes barreling forward. Eyes narrow, and all sound is gone aside from his heavy breathing and his adversary's low husky breath as it uses all fours to cross the distance in but a moment, rushing into him and barreling him over.
