Okay guys, here's what's going on: We've locked all petitions temporarily and notified their owners. This all comes with a purpose, and please take note of the word TEMPORARY. We need to work a few things out: Kroo is putting all petitions on hold until we AS A GUILD find a system that works and rules and guidelines that fit. As you can see from all the threads, it's become a bit of a mess. In the last few weeks, we've seen all the holes that this petition process has, not to mention the trouble that can happen as a result. It kind of knocked it back into our heads that we need to pause and fix things before going any further, including more than just Kroo in the process. The guild as a whole NEEDS to be involved.
We want everyone to participate in coming up with some options in this thread so that we can discuss them. We should be able to figure something out that will work for everyone, so that things don't continue to be such a mess. Discuss what works, what doesn't work, and what you think is reasonable.
Please be sure you're polite and courteous and at least try to consider other's opinions! Name-calling or attacking will not get us anywhere.
Once this is figured out and dealt with, all petition threads will be unlocked.
Please discuss with us and feedback is NECESSARY!

Things to Discuss:
- How should the process work?
- How should a petition go to voting?
- Should Kroo have any say in whether or not a petition goes to guild?
- What posts are allowed in petitions? Signing only or Discussion?
- Should there be a Status/Summary thread for Petitions?
- What can be petitioned for? Should minor rule changes be? Should stickies be? Should game changes be? Should events be? Where is the line?
- Should there be a rule about editing a petition after there are already signatures? About having a thread moved or deleted for a revision?

I think that we can afford to lose the step where kroo puts a petition to a kroo-only vote. I do think that kroo should be allowed to sign petitions, and then vote in the guild-wide vote. This kind of evens the playing field, but still allows kroo to have a say in what's going on in the guild.
I think petitions should be signature-only. I think a separate thread to discuss keeps things from getting messy.
I think that noticeable changes should be put to petition.
Does kroo get to have it's veto? Should the subforums get merged? Should we only hold our games outside of the guild? Things like that. I think tiny things kroo can handle on it's own.
Also, I definitely think that there should be a rule that if a petition is MAJORLY edited, than the petition is null and void and a new one must be made.

I agree with photo, but I think that major things should be petitioned, minor things don't need to be, but can be if wanted.

Second of all: Oh God. Is Kroo doing crap without asking Toastie again? Is this another Skype thing?
I agree with Photo. The Kroo-only vote should be taken out.
Other than that, I don't believe that there should be some sort of rule that says what we can or cannot petition for. (This includes counter-petitions) I kind of feel as though this is the Kroo throwing a fit about stuff, but whatever.
But of course, you should probably talk to everyone before pulling something like this, especially if Toastie doesn't know about it.

Oh! And I think that the posts in the Petition threads should be reserved for signs ONLY. No discussion because it muddles up the petition thread and it's harder to pick out the signatures. Perhaps if someone wants to discuss that petition, they could make a separate thread. Kind of make it like the votes in the Game. Any posts that aren't for the votes (or sigs) should be deleted.

I think ALL voting of petitions should be removed, and it should be handled exactly how it is in the Gaia community at large. Petitions as a way to get ideas heard, with crew as the final say on exactly how or if anything gets implemented.

QFE If crew is running things, then petitions should just be a way to let crew know that there are a number of people that want an idea done, or something... this guild doesn't seem large or active enough to need its own little voting system, imo. plain old open discussion seems like the best place to start. if there are any big issues, how they're handled can be decided from there. the world is not going to end if every step of the process is not run with strict gov't-esque regulations. it seems pretty silly in my humble opinion

choic emphasis on the "tool" this guild doesn't seem large or active enough to need its own little voting system, imo. plain old open discussion seems like the best place to start. if there are any big issues, how they're handled can be decided from there. the world is not going to end if every step of the process is not run with strict gov't-esque regulations. it seems pretty silly in my humble opinion this ;-; petitions are cool but the more formal things are the more we get sticks up our butt. we don't need things this formal and my philosophy is ALWAYS where you can be informal, be it. everyone is more relaxed and things are more fun when things are more lax. we can be reasonable. there is no reason things have to be UBER OFFICIAL. an informal petition system would be rad but you guys can just ASK KROO TO DO STUFF if you have suggestions.
