Got your attention didn't I?!
Well I was just thinking we should make a thread to post our ideas about what features and improvements you think Maxis/EA Games should make when (not if) they make a Sim3.
Remember, this isn't a place to post your ideas of things for expansions, but things that are so game altering or so labor intensive that they'll most likely only be able to accomplish by making a completely new version of the sims.
Dream away! heart

I've been wanting weather changes and seasons. (: With the ability to turn them on/off, like aging. So you could still make themed houses but with the option of weather. biggrin DD
I'd like the ability to have children in the household without having to be related to someone, just as long as an adult is there, in CAS. It'd make some households easier to make right off the bat. o:
I think having to do laundry would be an amusing, if aggravating and too-realistic part of sim life. Maybe it's just the vision of a sim kicking a broken washing machine with smellbad coming off of them because of dirty clothes. I wouldn't really want that as part of the game.
I can't think of anything at the moment for build mode or anything like that. (:

Well, pets did come for the first sims.. but not for like.. four or five expansion packs.. so, who knows. they might be planned for sims2.
Well, I wonder if the Simsville will be the sims3? Not sure if any of you maxis watchers was following when they developed a game called simsville... sims scale version of sim city. you got to manage a few families at one time. not as intimate and directly affecting as the sims... but.. still intereting.

if you read the chat transcripts from discussions with the creators and developers, they have already promised the community that we WILL get pets for the sims2 in an expansion pack. My prediction is that in the next EP (the business one) they will have an option to run a pet store and you can breed and sell your pets to the other sims in the area. That's just my predicition... if not, I think that the pets in The Sims3 (which I would hope the base game would include them) should be almost as customizeable as the sims themselves. Then you could breed the animals and you know... pure breeds sell for more simoleans, while you can see what the genetics mixing two different breeds will get you.
I also think in the sims3, we should be able to customize the sims bodies as much as you can the faces in sims2. I would hope you could make your sims as fat/thin, short/tall, handicapped/athletic as you want... (yes i think they should have wheelchairs in the sims3 too)
I would also like a calander feature that allows you to see all the sims in your family, see their schedules, see the holidays that you choose to celebrate. In the people you know section, you would be able to see the basics about their lives, like the hours they work or go to school (so you know when it's best to call them) and their birthdays so you can call and wish them a happy birthday and get extra social points... doubly extra if you write them a happy birthday card. (more on this in a minute)
In that calander I would also include a feature for planning their wardrobe in advance (a week at a time would be nice) with it still defaulting to have them wear the same thing everyday for players who like to play that way. Maybe it could also include a random outfit picker option that chooses from what they have in their wardrobe. I would say you should also be able to make that your default option so you could stock up on 1 piece outfits and let it choose them for you.
Ok, back to the mail, I think its being terribly under utilized. I think the NL EP is getting there with the ability to recievce cupons in the mail... but I would like to see our sims write love letters, send birthday, congratulatory, or condolence cards. (I'm interested to see if this business EP allows you as the business owner to "send out mailers" to the residents of the town... that would be a neat way to advertise)
And of course, we all want to see weather and seasons. So I won't even bother with a further explaination on that smile Besides, this post is already super huge, so I should shut up now * xp Bites Tounge* .... I wish I worked for Maxis... I just don't wanna live in CA. crying

I don't like the laundry idea, but I do like the idea of making them stay an adult longer. I'd also like the time to not go by so fast. Seriously. It doesn't take me an hour to take a shower. Nor does it take me an hour to cook my breakfast and eat it. rolleyes

They might in the very very very distant future. The Sims 2 will probably have maybe about 7 expansion packs like the original Sims, and that took a while, so obviously, The Sims 3 will come out maybe in ages!

I dunno... I doubt the whole idea of a third sims... what could they possibly add to it after all of the eps for sims2 are made?

blackajah I dunno... I doubt the whole idea of a third sims... what could they possibly add to it after all of the eps for sims2 are made? That's like asking, "How can Microsoft possibly improve upon the X-Box?" They come out with the 360. I haven't played it, but I hear it's good. But it's the same basic principle. If there's audience and a raved-about product, if the product is improved upon, the audience will buy it. That's why they keep updating video game systems and making movie sequels. If it sells, it sells. o:

If it sells, it sells. o: *off topic... the x-box 360 sux worse than the original x-box.... which i own, they over heat and there are several articles about them having major crashing issues... just another example of microsoft releasing a product before the big bugs are worked out... like an overheating power supply! gonk PS don't get the new version of windows either, Windows Vista I think... they're being evil and proprietary with their graphics stuff and they are not going to support most video games... which means no sims!!! So stick with XP! ok i'm done now * Yeah like you said though, they will make improvements and the sims fans (which there are alot of) will buy it because it'll be more lifelike or more conrtollable, I think there's a lot of improvements that can be made and I seem to remember someone asking the designers when 2 came out if there would be a 3 and they said they start working on the next one as soon as the previous one was released and the EPs are just space fillers until they can finish the next one. I think one route they could take might be to integrate it with the next simcity more... that would be cool. Cause I love to build me some city too smile

That'll come sooner than you think. Oh that's gonna be so sad. I'm gonna have kids by then more than likely, so no time for mommy to play anymore! ooooh nooooo.

Don't mean to burst the bubble.. xD
It's very doubtful that Maxis will make a Sims 3, only because the Sims 2 was just taking the original into 3D. But it may be likely that in EPs soon to come, they may add in "weather" and so on.
But it is highly likely that they'll be putting out more and more Sims for the console. I find the GBA games very fun. Like a little adventure every game.

you didn't burst my bubble cause i think you're wrong. blaugh i think they're already working on sims3. the sims2 was not "just taking the original into 3D." It was, in the words of Tim LeTourneau "The next step to enhancing the total playing experience and expanding the possibilities of play" They didn't just introduce us to a 3D world, they gave us time, life cycles, wants and fears that give the sims more personality... I still see lots of places where they can improve on the flexibility of play.
I was talking about this with my husband and he thinks that the sims 3 may/should be more like the linux operating system where you can pick and choose the features and set it to run and play just the way you want. more player controlled options than just aging on/off. I see features such as the weather and calander and such that i've mentioned before as being a slot on the main game options panel where you can have slide bars and check boxes to customize the way that the sims actually function! I see there possibly being tools made available to the community to create their own animations with a set of tools like those in body shop now. I see sims becoming more and more diverse with little interuption to the play (i say that cause technically you can already have really tall or short sims using the skeleton stretch cheat, but using those distort the animations and cause a lot of "mesh merging" that's not really conducive to a realistic feel)
and more than all of that, i see how well the series is selling, their popularity, and the enthusism of the community about anything sims. so I'm sure maxis and ea see that too. They're a business so they're going to continue to feed their customers "new and exciting" things to keep us interested. They'll come to a point, just as they did with the sims 1, where they see that the sales of additional EPs are doing QUITE as well as before so they know they need something bigger and better to keep us hooked on the game! That and there will come a point where someone on the design team suggests a really awesome idea, but it won't be able to be accomplished with the current structure of the sims2 so they'll take what they've learned and build on that to make it even better!
Now I'd be hard pressed to see a sims4 in the futuer, but that'll all depend on what they do with 3 and what the response to it is. [/rant]

I don't think they will make a Sims3. Sims 2 is already sooooooooooo good! There's nothing else left for Sims3. I mean, they wouldn't beable to make it better then the Sims2.
