I just don't understand any of it. At all.
It's my History Honors class. It's KILLING me.
I've been doing nothing but living, breathing, and sleep this past chapter, and I still don't get it. I've made myself study guides, I stay after school twice a day trying to get him to explain it, I tried explaing it to a friend (sometimes when you teach it to others, you understand it better), I've had friends help me, I've had my family help me... I've been putting so much effort into this, and I still can't retain it.
It's stressing me out. Because I aim for a really high GPA, and the first marking period I got a C. I know, I know, a C isn't really that bad... but I feel like a failure because all of my friends say that this is the easiest class for them, and I just don't get it. (Everyone expects me to get A's. Sometimes B's, but mainly A's.)
We're graded only on tests (No extra credit), and I'm a horrible test taker, to start with. And his tests have these "analize history" questions that I just don't understand.
I do the reading, I've talked to the teacher... I'm trying! That's probably the most frustraiting part, is that I'm putting in so much of an effort. Sometimes, it takes little to nothing for me to learn something. I'm great at math, science, and literature...but this whole history thing...it's just a lot to know to me.
Any tips or advice? Anyone else go through this?
I would love to switch out of the class, but that would mean my whoe schedual being messed up, and me not being able to finish some of my other classes. I'd rather not do that for one class. =/

To be honest, studying was never really my thing. I had a crappy attitude towards school. I thought either I got it, or I didn't. I never tried to get good grades. I am 100% sure that if I had actually put effort into my work, I would have graduated with honors. Unfortunately, it wasn't that important to me and now I raelly regret it.
I don't know how helpful I can be, but I am going to give it a try.
This might sound a little crazy, but try NOT thinking about your history class and work. Give your brain a rest. Sometimes if you study too much, you can overdo it. It seems like you have a busy schedule... If it's possible, I would suggest taking some time to yourself to collect your thoughts. After you've cleared your mind, then give it another try.
I personally think classes graded only on tests are bogus. I too have always had a hard time with tests. Sometimes my brain just decided not to funtion during them or I get super stressed because I know how important they are... Maybe you could work something out with your teacher?! Normally, a GOOD teacher would understand that not all kids learn the same way and would be willing to work something out for you.
That's really all I can think of right now. I wish I had something better for you!
I hope you are able to work through this!!
Good luck.
