I gotta say 2 because Claire is by far my favourite resident evil character (then Jill, then Leon then Chris) and I loved the story behind it. The story was fresh and exciting and extremely scary the first time you played it.

I'm also really stoked for the Darkside chronicles as well. As a man resident evil fan I can say that I am looking forward to seeing Claire's a** in those biker shorts without those wonky camera angles..............................what?

My Personal Favorite would be 4 for many reasons and those will be listed below.

1. It contains my favorite resident evil character Leon.
2. It was new, It brought about a phenominal game engine as well as an amazing weapon upgrading system which increased your way of playing by about a million.
3. IT took the old story line and gave it more depth, the zombies as phenominal as they were...well were getting old. The Las Plaga's story line both made sense (parasite that controls minds...real parasites can do that) and was amusing blowing off an enemies head to reveal a giant bug was pretty cool. The bosses were very cool and they also added interesting twists to the game.
4. It was generally just a fun game, it combined destruction with at times difficult puzzles

AND NOW THE DOWNFALLS

1. The controls were at time's clumsy I didn't like that you couldn't walk and shoot like most real people do in danger, also once released on the wii with the retical how it turned red whenever you had an enemy lined up made hitting them simple.
2. The enemies were repetitive, I love killing el gigante but I don't love killing el gigante 5 times. I also never got why you just ran into a merchant, they should have hid him so that you had to try to find him to upgrade because if he was just walking around then the ganado's would have guns.
3. There were not enough puzzles, In prior resident evil games there were ton's of difficult puzzles which I loved. In Re4 after the first play through you have every puzzle memorized.
4. They should have fed more into the plot line. Which though was an issue with the release of Resident evil 4 for the play station they did delve into ada's side of things which deepened the plot. So this was somewhat addressed.
5. Mercenaries should definitely have been a co-op game. IT would have been awesome...they did make this true with Re 5.

Haven't had the pleasure of playing RE 5 yet, but out of the prior 5 (including RE 0) I'd have to say RE 4, mainly because I loved the system, I beat it seven times in normal mode and another four or five in hard mode before hanging up my pistol. The storyline was really predicable, I hated having to rescue Ashley over and over every time I turned around, and to be honest the enemies were more comedic to me than dangerous, but something about the game just caught and kept my attention and it seemed like every time I played through I discovered something new. That and lets face it, zombie-ish creatures and an infinate rocket launcher mix very well.
