The Purple Jala landed with ease onto the green grass. He had been flying for a few hours now, hoping in vain that he would find some glimpse of Diego. However, he hadn't even seen a hint of his father. The last few days had been a strain on the usually cheery stallion and he was feeling rather somber. How much longer would it be before they found any sign of him?

Slowly, Udi surveyed the area around him. There were a few others here and there but he didn't see his sisters. He hoped that perhaps they would have seen some sign of Diego. Someone had to have seen him. How could he just vanish into thin air? Udi's tried to cheer up. Aquila or Etain must have found him. Perhaps that's why he hadn't seen him at all.

The stallion began to graze feeling a little better, as he waited for the return of his siblings.

Etain had pressed on quickly after her chat with the white mare. Although Esterlina had said Udi's search hadn't been going well she as hoping against hope that his luck had changed since he'd talked to the mare - or that Aquila had found him. Swooping low over the land she serched for any signs of her siblings - finally spotting Udi's purple hide and golden tail as he grazed. checking her speed she landed near by and trotted the last few steps before coming to a halt and folding her wings with a bit of a ruffle.

Since they were both alone - there didn't seem much point in pointing out the obvious and making them both feel worse about not finding Diego so she merely snorted slightly and glanced around them "No sign of Aquila yet?"

Tired, irritated, and trying not to get her hopes up, Aquila spiraled down towards her siblings. Seemed they all had good timing at least. Diego wasn't with them, but maybe one of them had met him and he was on his way, maybe they'd at least heard some news.

"Hey!" Aquila called to the gold and purple pair as she drew near the ground. She landed with her usual lack of elegance; she didn't trip or anything, she'd just never got the hang of looking graceful. Something about the stocky body and short mane and tail she supposed... Though her father had a short mane and tail, and he always looked poised.

"So..." she settled her wings back by her sides and studied her siblings' faces. "Any luck?" No. She didn't need them to speak, defeat was written all over them. Maybe one of the other searchers had heard something, he couldn't just have vanished off the face of urin... right?

Udi looked up and swallowed his mouthful of grass as Etain neared him. Well, it looked like she hadn't run into Diego either. At least not alive. The stallion shook the thought up and tried to cheer himself up. Aquila wasn't here yet. Surely Diego would be with her?

"No, but then, I've only just arrived." He told his sister. Almost as he said it he saw another glint of gold and caught sight of his other sister. "Well, it appears we've all arrived about the same time. Although I don't think any of us have any good news." The thought sobered him up and Udi patiently waited for his sister to land.

"Hello sister!" The purple Jala called out to her in greeting. "No I'm sorry I haven't heard anything from anyone or found anything that might have pointed towards him. However Etain showed up only a few moments before you and I haven't been here very long either." Udi stood back and looked at Etain hopefully.

Following Udi's gaze as he looked into the sky she also watched her sister land, alone..and she didn't really need her to ask her own question to already know that Aquila had been just as unsuccessful as she and her brother. Well that was aggravating...and worrisome, she was still attempting to figure out how someone like Diego could simply vanish into thin air. He had to have gone somewhere she reminded herself...we just haven't looked in the right place yet.

Snapping her tail slightly Etain eyed her brothers hopeful look, she hated to disappoint Udi, but nor did she think it prudent to relay the rumor the Reya had told her - after all it had turned out to be nothing and wouldn't do anything but make them all feel bad. Etain was trying very hard to ignore the possibility that Diego could indeed be dead somewhere - even if it wasn't the bottom of a ravine near the ocean.

"I'm sorry...no, but I expect we can cross Quirne off our list now.One less place to search" She added the last bit with a bit of optimism, sure it was a sad attempt to see some good in thier lack of finding him, but at least it was an attempt.

"Drek." Aquila sighed; she was not generally the swearing type, but today she felt justified in a cuss or two. "So we've done Qurine, and other people have been doing some other places... Maybe somebody else has heard something. I mean someone who hasn't got back yet," she added quickly so as not to let hopes rise to high, "I talked to Estavan on the way here. Nobody who's checked in with him has heard a word. All the people doing Ryuten are back, most of the people doing D'ob, and a few doing northern Yisi. There's still people to come back though, so we might hear good new yet."Might, maybe, perhaps; it was all pretty depressing. Their young half siblings were missing their father horribly. They had to find him soon.

"So... Do you guys have any ideas about were we could look next?" she asked after a moment of unhappy silence. "I mean, even places people have looked before he might be in. He's just one Jala, easy to miss especially where the ground isn't open." She'd take even a random hunch right now, anything, any idea at all, any course of action other than giving up.

Udi sighed. He was tired of this. Tired of the searching and worrying. They needed to find Diego soon. He at least needed closure if his father really was... No. He wouldn't even think it. The purple Jala wasn't sure why Diego had left and not come back, but he would refuse to believe him dead. Not until they had solid proof. Even though this disappearance of Diego wasn't characteristic, he was sure he was somewhere. No one completely disappears.

"What about the mountains?" He suggested. "There are quite a few trees and rocks and such. Plus how many people made it there? It can be tough to maneuver. I don't really go there myself. I'm sure there are caves too, ones you wouldn't be able to see from the air."

It wasn't the best idea, but it made sense. Udi swished his golden tail and stomped his hooves in aggravation. The stallion did wish someone would come back with some news, but they couldn't stand around waiting all day. Something needed to happen.

Etain snapped her tail thoughtfully as Aquila asked them where they could look next - by the sounds of things the other Nequus had it pretty well covered, although it was impossible to cover every nook and cranny in the land, Etain was having a hard time fathoming just where Diego could have gotten to. Or at least she couldn't figure out how she would manage to disappear like he had.

Thankfully Udi seemed to come up with a decent idea where she faltered and she nodded her head slightly. "Maybe...that would be hard to search though" she remarked after a few moments - by the time they managed to look trough the caves their half siblings would probably be mostly grown - well okay that might be a bit of an exaggeration but still.

"Fyhi's worth a look," Aquila agreed with a nod, "I'd hesitate to go to Casa Tiner... but if we run out of other options, I'd be willing to try. Most people who go into the dark forest don't come back out but... Well, it's a risk I'd be willing to take." She was a pretty bold sort on the whole, Aquila considered to herself, but trying to climb the ice mountains wasn't bold, it was stupid. Diego wasn't stupid. He wouldn't have gone there... would he?

Estavan's vague directions, it seemed, had been pretty good after all; just ahead of her, a trio of purple and gold Jala stood talking. Her half-siblings... well she quite liked them, but she wasn't sure what they thought of her. She had, after all, run off and joined the Katilenuck. She'd abandoned the family to ensure she was never forced to take a mate for anything but love, a fear none of them had ever faced. As she drew near, Sekhmet whinnied a greeting.

"Hey guys, I've been looking for you... How's things?" Silly question by the looks on their faces, but it had been the first thing to come to mind so oh well.
PostPosted: Sun Nov 08, 2009 8:36 am

Udi nodded as he listened to his siblings talk. If Aquila was willing to go to Casa Tiner that was her choice. Udi, on the other hand, had a bigger responsibility now. His run in with Esterlina had turned into something a lot bigger than he had planned. If he hadn't... well there wasn't a whole lot that he could do about that now. What was done was done, and now he had to deal with the consequences, even though they weren't so bad. Unfortunately, he would soon have to drop out of looking for their father.

Well, he couldn't wait any longer to tell his siblings. They would find out soon enough as it was. "Guys I need to," The purple Jala began but stopped abruptly as his half sister Sekhmet arrived. Udi didn't really know the mare but perhaps she had some news of Diego. With all of the stress he seemed to have accumulated lately, knowing what had happened to his father would help relieve a little bit of it.

Udi almost laughed sarcastically at her greeting. Wow, things were bad. He shook his head a little trying to rid himself of the negative thoughts that he seemed to have had lately.

"They're..." He searched around for the right word. "interesting." He told his half sister.

Etain truly did not wish to play around in the mountains - and she doubted very much their father would have too - but then..if you were trying to disappear wouldn't you go to the place everyone else was afraid or in Etains personal opinion far to smart to go? It did make a sort of twisted sense. "Let's cross the mountain bridge when we get to it" Etain remarked wryly, right before Udi interrupted with well whatever seemed to have crossed his mind.

"You need to what?" She questioned him as Sekhmet appeared and Udi seemed ot loose his train of thought - poor Udi seemed to be taking things rather badly - or at least he wasn't the happy Udi she tended to recall. then again these weren't happy times and she let out a bark of laughter at Udi's response to Sekhmet before sobering up quickly."There's the understatement of the year"

Aquila, who had still been thinking about mountains, was rather caught off guard by Udi's cryptic comment, and then by the arrival of Sekhmet. "Oh, um, hi there," she offered the younger Jala a smile, trying to put her reservations about the mare aside. She'd spent what felt like a lifetime running around the world looking for this girl, only to find out that she'd allied herself with the Katilenuck. Oh, and Sekhmet had the elegance and grace she'd never managed to muster. Her full sisters were pretty as well, but she liked them - rather than just loving them - and therefore didn't resent them for it. As for Sekhmet... she did love her, but she wasn't at all comfortable with her, and most of the time would rather the girl was somwhere else.

"What were you going to say Udi?" she went on, fully pulling herself back into the conversation and turning to her brother. If Sekhmet had news, it could just wait for now; she preferred her purple sibling by a long shot, and wasn't about to shift her attention off him onto miss pretty and yet still tough and practical who apparently liked bigoted idiots. Humph.

Sekhmet gave an awkward smile and nodded. "Yea... things have been pretty intense. I've got some news... but it can wait for now, you were talking first Udi." She really, really wanted to tell them but clearly she couldn't just butt in. Sure these three were family, but they were removed from her, closer to one another not only in blood but in circumstance. They had been born with loose ties to the herd, and as such had wandered freely as adults. She'd had to take that freedom for herself, and had upset a lot of people in the process. Still, there was nothing she could do about that; she refused to compromise her freedom of choice just to please her family. It seemed that a few of her full siblings were happy to do that in any case, her parents and herd didn't need another loyal little bargaining chip.

The purple Jala shifted a little uncomfortably as his siblings shifted all of their attention on to him. He had been a bit relieved at the arrival of his half sibling. He had assumed that perhaps his own announcement could wait a little while, but it seemed that was not the case. Well, it was better to get it over with now. He knew that they wouldn't fault him for it, actually they would probably be a lot more surprised than he was.

"Well," He began, once again searching around for the right words. He had gone over this conversation a million times in his head on the way home. However he couldn't remember a word of what he had come up with. Well that was what always happened wasn't it?

"Well," he continued on sounding a bit like a broken record. "I uh, kind of need to be heading back as soon as I can." He started off slowly. "I kind of left Esterlina alone at the tree and with the fruit it's going to be hard and she shouldn't have to do this alone, I mean it is my fault and responsibility too." He rushed through the rest of it getting it out in the open before he lost his nerve.

Etain was beginning to get the impression that Aquila was not entirely pleased with Sekhmet's arrival, quite honestly Etain didn't know the striped Nequus much, didn't know any of her fathers new family really and had yet to really form an opinion of the younger mare. And this didn't seem to be the time to try and get to know her either, maybe after their father was found she could make an effort to know this extended family.

Such thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt however as Udi blundered through his little speech, He babbled things out so fast that she had to p***k her ears forward to better hear him and was on the verge of telling him to speak up already when she got the gist of his message. Etain froze, her jaw dropped and for a few moments all she could do was stare stupidly at her brother, When she did manage to close her jaw the first thing she did was tick her gaze towards Aquile to see what she thought of this - or if she'd even heard the same thing Etain had. Maybe she'd heard wrong - that could be it. As far as she knew Udi wasn't interested in well...she cleared her throat.

"I think I might have heard you wrong Udi...come again?"

...Wait. What? Aquila returned Etain's confused look. "Err... Udi... I thought you liked stallions?" She supposed he could have changed his mind, such things happened, but he'd always seemed so firm in his preferences. "And who's Esterlina?" she added as an afterthought. "When did you leave her?" This was a concern; the mare wouldn't be able to feed herself! She was glad that Udi had come to meet them and still wanted to find their father but... well, however he'd come to father a tree, he needed to get back there before the mother starved.

Well, this was a conversation she didn't really feel part of. she didn't know Udi well, she hadn't even been aware that he liked his own gender best. It wasn't too great a surprise to her that he did, but she supposed that did make it a surprise that he had a tree growing. She envied his freedom for a moment, and then came to the odd realization that she had that kind of freedom too now. She was welcome enough at home, but no longer a part of the herd. If she wanted to shock everyone by producing children with some stranger, she could. She planned to eventually, she did want foals of her own, but how soon she wanted them she wasn't sure. She wasn't even sure who she wanted them with... well there was Dahak, but things between them had been very tenuous when she'd left, he might have found himself another girl by now. She hoped he hadn't. She liked him a lot.
