I'd say Ike. The character design and his stats are overally great. Especially when he changes class; the image changes too. And his critical for when he's a Lord is awesome... (backflip!)

Ike is SO strong, it is unfair. He wields a sword that gives him +5 Def, and he normally maxes Def out= 28 total Def. This sword has infinite uses and doubles as a ranged attack. He cannot be double if he maxes Spd. His luck is decent. Attack is outrageous, mutilpied x10 if he's using Aether. Let's face it, Aether breaks the game. Healing plus ludicrous damage... You don't need to even have other units on the field... Ike owns all of the enemies by himself!!! Well, you might need a staff user if a Bishop puts Ike to sleep, but that's it!
In fact, the only reason he'd lose, aside from being put to sleep, is if he's facing an enemy that is even MORE broken than he is. Example: BK, Ashy. Those two are Brooooooooooken! A General with 27 Spd? A Wyvern Lord with 27 Spd? Give me a break! They cheat I tell you!

Ike becomes stronget when he wields Ragnell, which is of infinite use. Besides, he's the main character, and the son of Greil, it can't be helped. Ike just never recognized Greil's actual powers... which is much more stronge than when he trained with him. So if he's his son, it would make sense that he inherited his father's strenght...

Ike's definitely the best. But my fav has to be Zihark. Damn he's incredibly awesome in appearance and combat. Give him gamble and a killing edge and its 100% critical assured, its hilarious xd . Also Oscar, not my fav characterwise, but in my file he was incredible. Dodged everything, doubled everything, Sol'd everything, no dmg to him, Jesus, unstopable eek

Well, besides Ike who can kill everyone and their mama, I'd say I like Jill the best. Interesting character, decent supports, and a superb combination of speed and strength. Of course, she's no Marcia combat-wise, (at least in my experience) who has absurd strength and defense once she promotes, without losing any of the Falon Knight's trademark speed/skill/res. combo.
And Shinon's pretty cool but his stats are pretty iffy so that loses him some points.

i like using mia....and she COULD be meh favorite cuz she rocks and basically thats why.
uh....soren and rolf are good too...
but i need to read more supports...hah
